All right my friends today pxg is launching their newest driver called Black Ops and we are testing out in this video going to give you all the numbers for the Black Ops driver and the Black Ops tour-1 driver and at the end of this video I have a special guest that’s

Going to show us really what this would do in the hands of a touring professional so let’s see what we’ve got underneath the Hood okay so here is their previous model the Gen 6 and performed pretty well to be honest with you it wasn’t my favorite I didn’t like the sound the look is decent but I just wasn’t really comfortable with the feel and sound of this model so hopefully

Black Ops has something new to hear and to feel cuz that’s really important for me when it comes to the driver you’re going to hit it a lot it better sound and feel pretty good so the Black Ops driver is retailing for $599 us and the Black Ops tour-1 is retailing for

$649 the question is are they worth the price now pxg is going for distance forgiveness explosive feel and sound they have their Precision weighting technology and something new is what they call AMF Advanced material face we don’t necessarily know what that advanced material is I did ask and they said it is uh

Proprietary secretive stuff I did ask a second question question and said are any other golf companies using that material in their face they said potentially one other might be using it so you super out there might be able to figure out but they have a specific way in which they use it what

It does essentially is it makes the face stronger and more flexible at the same time which will produce greater ball speed across the face and maximum forgiveness across the face of the driver additionally they have an optimized variable face thickness design going on in the face it’s sort of like

AI but it’s not AI it’s um optimized variable face thickness you get the idea but it’s kind of that’s what’s going on here so you get maximum performance throughout the face of the club even on those M hits they’re going to be better than they otherwise would have been and

That’s going to be the same for Black Ops and Black Ops tour dash one the main differences between the two are going to be the head size and shape the Black Ops is going to be more for the everyday player and they’ve been able to lower

The center of gravity and move it back which gives you a higher launch with less spin basically kind of what you want you want to be able to hit that ball high and F then with the t-1 a little bit smaller profile a little bit taller face and

Basically a lower spinning driver and so a little more let’s say difficult to hit not difficult diff more difficult than the Black Ops is going to be this that’s why this is going to be for your really high swing speed players and really really good players so more of a tour

Model is what you would say so to start off we are going to first hit the previous Gen 6 just to get a good Baseline for the feel and sound that I just didn’t personally wasn’t my favorite okay then we’ll move on to the Black Ops and then the tour- one and

Then at the end we’ll give you some like a real professional quality swing speed with the tour dash one so you could see what it really does uh in for like a tour player okay and we’re going to use the same Venus 6s shaft in every driver

So that we have uh a fair comparison amongst heads let’s get started I mean the Gen 6 it always performed well like I didn’t really have any complaints other than sound and feel if we could keep that but increase the the look sound and feel I’d be Happy I’m never unhappy with the performance moving on what was awesome was that I was able to get fit out at Scottdale National for this driver and I was able to play a bit of golf with it so I I know that when I played now we played the other course giant Fairways

Beautiful place desert beautiful day the ball was flying I was hitting it great now it’s hard to miss Fairways there so it was tough to gauge it on a tight skinny track but I was hitting a lot of center of the fairways even the bad shots were really good the look I loved

The sound I loved and the feel was way better but now that we’re able to bring it in studio and get accurate numbers for ourselves we’re going to find out if it was just a a mirage or if it was Reality I was at 154 ball spe that was up like 3 4 miles an hour look how straight that one is 298 okay Black Op T dash1 I don’t know if this was the right one for me or not I did not play with this one out in

Phoenix Scottdale so I do not know I do like the smaller head profile and I do like the fact that it looks like it sets up a little more open so let’s see what type of performance we can get out of Her okay results coming at you here this is the previous model the Gen 6 driver which we know I didn’t like the sound or the feel of it here’s what we got not bad performance average Club at speed today was 103 average ball speed was 152 and my average total distance was

279 going about 84 ft in the air pretty good performer but did pxg step it up with Black Ops the face technology the variable thickness the weighting the center gravity everything they’ve done the magic material secret material flexible strong face did it help at all here are my Black Ops numbers trackman

Studio coming at you Club head speed 103.7 virtually the same Club head speed ball speed 153 a little bit higher ball speed but my total distance was 286 so I’m getting a bit more height a bit more carry a bit less spin so it runs a bit further as a

Matter of fact that’s pretty solid numbers right there so Black Ops for me and my current Club headp speed where I’m at today this setup pretty solid I love the sound and the feel is great even especially when it matters most on the M hits those sound and feel very

Similar to a solid hit you can feel it a little bit but the sound isn’t so jarringly different so great job great job with the Black Ops now let’s see how I performed with the T dash one and maybe that’s a better fit for me all

Right the tour dash one here’s what we got same Club head speed basically we’re all in that 103 range so that’s great ball speed2 a little bit less and average distance 284 so pretty good not quite as good as the Black Ops so solid but not as solid didn’t go quite as high

So a little bit lower ball flight a little bit lower spin so for me lower um flight lower spin doesn’t necessarily work together I love the look of this probably the best the smaller head but my M hits were a lot worse so for me as much as I do like

That smaller profile I think the Black Ops driver for me performs a lot better than the tour-1 but who is the tour-1 for well let’s find out you ready to rock this thing out okay Sky’s going to show you what the Black Ops tour dash1 is for he was fit that’s his shaft

7x Tour AD shaft Black Ops tour-1 hold on to your whatever you got let her rip my man just waking up he’s got 121 Club head speed 180 ball speed total 341 yards if that’s your profile then the Black Ops tour one is for you to

Dash1 if not Black Ops is your option link below for everything thanks for watching thanks for crushing it love you guys see you soon

  1. Good morning Matt! Sorry if you’ve covered this in another video that I might have missed… do you swing your shirt irons/wedge with the same velocity as your long irons and vice versa?
