I Got The NEW COSTCO Kirkland Driver & The TRUTH IS… With the releases of the latest golf clubs either having been announced or yet to come.. the driver that most people are talking about at the moment isn’t the Taylormade Qi10, isn’t the Callaway Paradym AI Smoke. isn’t the Ping G430 Max 10k and isn’t even the Cobra dark speed driver… but in fact the Costco Kirkland signature driver… a new driver for $199 could well be the best driver of 2024 when you go and buy your ketchup, loo roll and toothpaste. Is the costco driver the best forgiving driver of 2024? is the Kirkland driver the best budget driver of 2024? well finally… it’s time to find out…

With all the talk in 2024 revolving the brand new tailor made Callaway ping pxg and Cobra drivers all around 4 to 500 I’ve managed to get a hold of a driver from Costco that will cost you just $199 guys that’s right I have the brand new Costco Kirkland Signature driver and

I must admit looking at this straight away it looks absolutely incredible guys in this video we’re going to take a look at this Costco signature driver we’re going to see just how it performs we’re going to see if it can go head-to-head with some of the world’s biggest Nam

Drivers also huge thanks to Gabe from let’s playr he sent me this driver from America we can’t get them here in the UK just yet and he actually sent me one of his head covers as well so I’m going to cherish this Gabe thank you ever so much

Mate I’ll put that either in my office or I might even put it on a driver for a couple of months let’s see exactly what this Costco Kirkland Signature P driver is all about guys hit that subscribe button if you want to see more Costco golf related content cuz the irons are

Coming very very soon and we’re going to do a couple of comp comparison videos for your money both with the latest and greatest clubs and some secondhand clubs that will cost you the same amount now without any further Ado let’s go hit this bad boy so before we do hit this

Drive I must say one of the big things that I’ve really enjoyed is the experience behind getting this club you can see the box is full of information about the driver is a high performance adjustable driver I can’t get my head round you can get an adjustable driver

For that price you can see as well we also have lamp King grips on there a ridiculous Even Flow rip tied shating of which we have a 6.0 so a stiff lovely head cover and a wrench two chains at Loft because of course it is a high performance adjustable driver so I’m

Going to have to level with you all just a bit I’ve been really looking forward to testing this driver like probably a little bit unhealthily so because I’m a huge fan of golf products that don’t break the bank of golf products that can help you play good golf and not spend a

Ton of money money I.E the Cali golf clubs the Tacomo golf clubs the Kirkland golf balls the seed golf balls and now of course the Kirkland golf clubs guys how good is this driver going to perform against some of the best drivers of 2024 or should I say the most expensive

Drivers of 2024 we’re going to test that in today’s video in the studio I’m going to hit some out here now just to see if it feels as good as it looks because I’m going to kick things off early it looks fantastic way better than I thought it

Did look in some of the USGA posts and in some of the hype that we saw on Twitter and yes I’ll go ahead and address the elephant in the room it looks a little bit like a titless tsr2 okay in my opinion that’s not a bad

Thing I think it looks like a great driver you can see we’ve got a little bit of waiting in the back there that’s going to make this driver nice and forgiving they don’t give a lot of tech on this club it does have a titanium face which is designed to maintain ball

Speed across the face and you can see that carbon looking Crown I actually think it looks Mizuno esque from the top guys comment below what driver does it remind you of and just a nice little Center Line in the middle there to help alignment you can see we have that

Adjustability I have it set at 9 and A2 that does change the L angle to sit nice and square for me it does sit a little bit toe up if you have it in its standard Loft standard Loft being of course 10 1/ 12° on this model so looks

Wise I think it’s very commendable the fact it’s got an even flow shaft in there is pretty ridiculous and looking down at the ball from this head I honestly think it could be a bit of a winner First Flight nice big fade out there that’s just going to the right hand side

Felt a little bit tinny First Impressions there first impressions a little bit disappointed it doesn’t feel as solid as maybe some other drivers I’ve been testing today I’ve just been testing the Ping g430 Max 10K driver and that feels phenomenal you can see I’ve hit this

Bang smack out of the middle of his face it’s launched a little bit High it felt a little bit tiny off that titanium face let’s give it another couple of goes let’s see if we can keep this ball nice and down that was better that was a more

Mid-flight down the left side peeling back again one thing I like about the shape of this head is I don’t feel like it’s going to turn over too much on me I feel like I can maybe play that nice safe shot down the left side and see it

Just peel back I will be interested to see what the numbers say about this club I think potentially looking at those two ball flights it may be a little bit on the spinny side whether or not you could retrofit a shaft in here to bring that

Spin rate down only time will tell for $199 though maybe £200 when it comes here to the UK how good would you expect this to be and would you pair it with a Kirkland ball and see just what performance you can get when you go and

Pick up your ketchup and your L roll and your hot tub cuz you can get them now there as well okay this is the interesting one can we play a little bit of a drawer a little bit of a turn over one just start it right and let it move

Back it’s not a bad shot it’s not drawing it’s my kind of standard stock shot to be honest I’m going to hit one with the Ping down there and see just how far this can get down there we’re into the wind so let’s see if it’s

Easier to keep the ball flight down on this g430 Max driver straight away feels like a stronger flight we’ll get down there and see where they are for me feel wise it’s just lacking a little bit is it going to make up for that in performance only

Time will tell the head cover is a great looking head cover but it is quite hard to get on and off I think I use gab’s head cover moving forward now let’s see if we can play through cheers Gabe now the thing that interests me the most

Here is obviously the price the price is astronomical it is $199 it’s really not that bad at all astronomically low is of course what I mean by that also you can’t really go and try them you’re not about to go to your Costco and be able

To kind of get fitted for it and then have a big simulator there although I have seen they do sell simulators now but it would be interesting to see if that changed and if you could go and get fitted with a Kirkland head and if maybe

It could keep up with the big boys let’s go and see where this driver has finished and let’s see potentially how it could compare to a ping g430 Max so interestingly we have a ball over on the right hand side of the Fairway just shy of the 150 markers that was the first

Shot that hit with the Kirkland driver there’s also a ball in that right hand Fairway bunker we also have a ball here so the three balls with the Kirkland driver are all pretty much a similar distance so front to back dispersion isn’t too bad even with the shot that

Spun up a little bit and I felt went too high interestingly the g430 max is there so actually further offline than the Kirkland but 10 yards further up so is that down to the bounce the time of year we’ll talk numbers in a second let’s go

And hit some t- shots that might put the heie jeebes in lot of golfers including me so for me personally I don’t really feel like the new drivers of the market are going to be a threat to the Kirkland Signature driver I think actually the biggest threat to this driver is of

Course not only the head cover it’s impossible to get off but the secondhand Club Market guys make sure you hit that subscribe button we’re going to do a couple of videos testing this driver against some secondhand clubs that you can get for around $199 or pound

Depending how much this is going to cost when it eventually comes to the UK Market I’m amazed it’s not come to the UK Market already but I suppose things have to start somewhere and then we’ll see just how good of value this club really is because one thing I’m a huge

Believer in is value doesn’t necessarily mean cheap if a driver’s cheap then yes you’re going to get it and not part with a lot of money but if it’s rubbish then it is cheap if it’s cheap and performs well then it’s a good value driver so those things do differ

Slightly now let’s see there’s a big lake on the left hand side here that I do not like I don’t think this driver necessarily is going to struggle with that can of Hit the Fairway a couple of times with this club that was actually out the toe and that

Felt better than when it was out the middle and it’s down there on the left hand side that actually has performed really well out of the toe I think the spin’s dropped a little bit it’s interesting cuz I don’t think there’s going to be a lot of low handicap

Scratch golfers going to buy these clubs in replacement of their ping Taylor Made Callaway tight list but I do think that it’s going to get a lot of people who maybe go to Costco and go you know what I’ve always fancied giving gol a go one

99 doesn’t seem too bad I could buy this take it to the driving range and hey Presto I might get into golf and that is where my love of the Kirkland products comes from because for me I want to see as many people playing golf as possible

Be that good golf bad golf cheap golf expensive golf any golf that’s another one that’s actually that feels like it’s come out quite strong it has gone in the water though I thought it might have carried the water but it hasn’t done but certainly as these strike locations are moving

Towards the toe of this Kirkland driver I’m starting to see ball flights that I do prefer do I just have to aim down the right hand side and hit that little towy turn over one maybe I still stand by it looks so good down at the ball if

Callaway or tailor maid or titless released a driver that look this good with this carbon crown on top I think the world would be like yeah that’s acceptable we’ll take that no problem and that’s probably the biggest wow look at that that’s the biggest thing I can say about this

Driver that was the best Drive I’ve hit that felt really really good and again tiny bit high toe aimed a bit right and that was the result guys let’s jump in the studio let’s see just how this driver does perform against pretty much all the drivers I’ve tested so far in

2024 and then let’s have One Last Dance and see if it could maybe go in my bag or your so interestingly having hit this driver inside against some of the biggest names of the year as you can see these are the low spin levels of Calla and Taylor Made the ball speed wasn’t

Quite there it spun a little bit higher but to be honest all the price if you look at the difference in distances here I really don’t think that’s bad at all we’re a couple of yards off call it 10 yards off $199 that’s be fair unfortunately it is

A watery grave for one of the Kirkland however the other two are right up here past the 150 markers and really impressed with that again that front to back dispersion out here in the course seems pretty good right One Last Dance how far can we get down this 18th hole

It’s not running that far at the moment so One Last Dance with the Kirkland I say that guys there’s going to be lots of content coming with this driver so make sure you do hit that subscribe button and we’re going to go ping g430 Max as hard as we physically can we’re

Off the forward te here on the 18 hole with it being winter but we should be able to get right down there we’re going to take this corner on and see if we can get this driver out of the screws if it can compete with something double the

Price the difficult thing being we need two shots out of the screws first up the ping we’re going to take the corner on see how far down there we can get that is gorgeous I’ve been testing the Ping against the New Ping today actually doesn’t seem to be wanting to

Let me down now for Kirkland as my hand cramps up trying to get the head make the head cover bigger guys just bigger now let’s try and go same line same swing and see if we can get this as far down there should it go as far being half the

Price that’s actually a better line that’s a tiger line I’ve pulled it a bit but I’m going to be really interested to see the difference in distance with these two clubs guys let’s get down there let’s have a little bit of a Roundup about this Kirkland Signature

Driver and see if it can go head-to-head with one of the world’s biggest names in golf when you finally get it out the middle so this is rather remarkable but as you can see we have the Ping driver in the middle of the Fairway there maybe

Just on the right hand side if we’re being picky and the Kirkland driver is way down there yes it is a down slope yes it could have taken a good bounce but for 19 199 yes it might not perform as consistently as some of the huge name drivers of

2024 but as a driver for the people when you go get your ketchup your L roll and everything else I think this is quite good I don’t think it’s perfect I think it’s the first iteration they brought out a second generation of wedges you might start to see second generation of

Drivers NS and things like that but it’s only a good start for Kirkland guys thanks for watching smash like subscribe on Gabe you are a legend thank you so much for sending this drivethru I can’t wait to catch up with you in Florida I definitely owe you a beer and apart from

That I’ll see you all at the same time tomorrow goodbye

  1. Interesting because other reviews I've seen says the Kirkland driver is one of the lower spinning drivers they've seen. I've got one and I haven't put it on a launch monitor, but it does seem fairly low spinning. Should pair well with the high spinning Kirkland balls. Either way, the driver feels really good to me and the price point was great. I've got the Kirkland Irons as well and honestly only a few could possibly match the quality for the money (Takomo for instance). Glad to see a lower cost option for folks that love golf but don't love spending tons of money on equipment. Keep up the great content James!

  2. Looks decent but I’d rather risk £199 without trying it on the PXG Gen 5 driver Xmas deal, at least that could be sold on with little or no loss.

  3. Well it’s about time. I consider you as big of a Costco nut as I am. Would have thought you’d be the first to review this and their irons.

  4. Great video. Couple of questions. How does this one compare to the PXG driver that was sold for $199 earlier and for someone that does experiment with shaft changes, what adapter does it use? I always learn with your videos. Thank you

  5. i think your spot on James more aimed at people just starting out or people on a budget i mean i am on a budget but thats what getting gear on tick from American golf is for right 😂

  6. Great initial test James 🙌 Seemed like it kept getting better for you. Spot on that it’s definitely a great option for beginners and higher handicaps. Looking forward to seeing your H2H comparisons.

  7. There should not be a secondary market for the Kirkland drivers. Why would you sell the driver for less money, when you can take it back to Costco and get a credit for the full price?

  8. I love that Costco is getting into this market. I doubt if the average golfer could distinguish between the Kirkland and the higher-priced name brands. With customer feedback, I am sure that Costco will find ways to improve this club and its golf products. Moreover, you can always take it back for a refund if it doesn't suit you. So you really can't lose.

  9. I wouldn't bother with the Kirkland driver – you're better off buying a used driver from the past 5 years for less.

  10. James, so I bought the Costco driver and to my surprise it was pretty awesome. I am hitting drives further than my Mizuno gamer. I put the Kirkland head on my Mizuno adaptor and it fits, plus ever since I did that, I am booming my drives, so happy!!!!! I know that Costco is looking for the higher golf handicaps, but I am a 7 and loving the driver. Thanks for the video and be well.

  11. This isn't bad a price but for me I have the 0211 which I paid £129 new and the gen 5 was £199 for a while also at the moment ex demo clubs are coming in, it's just a hard sell for me personally but its not bad for the money just ild put my £200 into a ex demo or pxg if I was in the market for a driver now

  12. Gab is great and so are youJames. Love your reviews, and keep up the good work. For the price point and with people staying within a budget, that driver looks really good to me.

  13. Gabe is a great guy. I've met him personally and he is just as nice in person as he appears to be in his videos. As for the driver, it is something to look at if you are wanting a decent club at a decent price. I won't be ditching my STealth 2 for it but a casual golfer who plays maybe 10 times a year might look at this to replace his or her's 15 year old driver. It would cause a lot less heartburn from spouses for sure.

  14. Would be interesting to see if they bring out a 3-5 Fw and put them all together in a full set with wedges and putter and irons

  15. I think the dlimema is brand new kirkland or second hand big name manufacturer 🤷can get a very good driver 2nd hand 199

  16. Bought my son a new in wrapper Mizuno STZ driver with a cracking Aldila Ascent red shaft for £210 (golfclubs4cash). Better deal all round I reckon 👍🏻⛳️🏌🏽‍♂️

  17. Head to head vs PXG 0211!?!?!? You can customize and it's adjustable(plus hit it if near a store), so why not purchase that instead?

  18. Be cool to see a video of TSr2 w/ Pro V1 vs. the Kirkland driver and ball. That might actually be a cool shoot out series of videos. Team up brand ball and driver, Titleist, Srixon, Callaway, TayorMade, Kirkland and Mizuno.

  19. 1. Gabe IS a legend. I follow him as well, and especially his driver “bracket” for the best driver of the year is great. I got the Garmin R10 because of his reviews. (Why don’t you do a video segment on launch monitors? Or perhaps phone apps?)
    2. Being Dutch I love a good bargain too. I wanted to get the PXG 0311 gen 5, but they don’t sell in the Netherlands; so I got it via EBay second hand: €179. (How did copper wire get invented, a Dutchman and a Yorkshire man were fighting over a penny 😂😂😂). Anyway, I would love to see how this would stack up to the PXG 0311 gen 5, as well as other brands.
    3. I think for the lesser gods like me (13.2 handicap and up), a £199.- driver off the rack with some degree of adjustability would be great.

  20. The Callaway and TM drivers likely had premium shafts whiwhile Kirkland likely hand a cheap $10 shaft. Put a Ventus Black into the Kirkland and the distance gap closes

  21. James, you keep mentioning that the Seed golf balls are an economical alternative to the Titleist Pro VI. On Amazon, the Seed SD 02 balls are $76 per dozen. The Pro VI balls are $55 per dozen. Are they less expensive in the UK?

  22. Nice show again mate, could you do a comparison against the Qi10 Max, I bet it's a lot closer on the numbers then, and I think it will be the higher handicap golfers that will go for it. Keep them coming mate.

  23. the ping G430 is TRIPLE the price!!!! This definitely seems like a good deal especially for someone trying to just get into golf. You can essentially get a really good set between irons, wedges, putter and driver for around 1k.
