  1. Come on TR, you’re from the same era as I am and you cannot have a list of power surfers and not include the all time number one power surfer of all time (or maybe you’re gonna do a video of just him, like “and the guy who showed them all how power surfing is done …..,”) the one the only RICHARD CRAM!!!! That guy was the man and dropped off to tour ranked #10 in the world (I believe) but well within the coveted top 16 to work for quick and stay home and raise a family. And that was unheard of, giving up a seeded spot on the tour and he just dropped off the map as far as footage and shots in the American mags were concerned but you could still find radical images hidden within Australia’s surfing world and a couple other of the Aussie mags but they were rare. But the guy was regarded by this whole list as the man when it came to power and laying it on a rail. And he just oozed style too with his hand and arm placement just total 80’s Aussie style!!!!

  2. I think recency bias and the generation he's competing against has everyone thinking he's more new school trickster… But John John has laid down some of the biggest open face power turns of which no one has ever seen before nor done since. Margret River, Haleiwa, Sunset, Log Cabins.. When someone does power turns that no one else can mimic – eg.. JBG backside snap, Sunny forehand squat, Occy backside carve and what JJF did at Margarets, it should cement you on this list.

  3. felipe toledo, etan ewing and gabe medina would top that list if we are to be realistic in 2023. thas more like a list for the 90's

  4. Yeah and if you also notice all of those Surfers were pretty much 80s 90s Surfers when the boards still required a good amount of power to be great. RLTW 3/75

  5. My top 3 are
    1.Pancho
    2.Johnny-Boy
    3.Occy
Honorable mentions: Sunny, Taylor Knox,AI, and Carroll
There’s the new breed of surfers who are powerful as well that should be in the conversation like JJ and Ethan Ewing.

  6. Dear Mr. Real S. Stories, Am thinking you should have named this video "Who are the top Power Surfers of the modern era" . Of all time? No way. The greatness of many is lost for those who try to select from the age of the video camera only. Where is Phil Edwards or even Duke Kahanamoku? And many other Hawaiians from days of yore? Best Wishes in the new year.

  7. Boards were so much bigger especially on big waves. JJF buries his whole board on committed turns. Agree with occy and sunny.

  8. Not sure about this list. AI blows Sunny Garcia and the rest away. I’m fine with Occy at the top of the list; but Tom Carrol also blows the other 4 away on this list.

  9. Next try better make the title " the ten power surfers of all time" so you can include all these others well deserving….
You guys are all right Carrol,Cram, Potter, Knox you sure cannot leave them out
