Do YOU NEED New IRONS in 2024?!?! STOP! Watch this FIRST!!
It’s that time of year where everybody’s looking for new clubes and if you’re looking for new irons you need to think about do you actually need them and what are you looking for for me obviously I’ve been through all the irons out on the market last year from Hollow boded
Irons to bladed irons to Big cavity backs so even hybrid irons with our mid handicapper and today we’re with our mid handicapper because the Grass Is Always Greener we’re always looking on that other side there some new irons coming out and they’re the same as mine but
They look a little bit nicer they’re blue instead of black so I might go for those but today what we’re going to do is put it through the test obviously Dave’s got his irons here we’ve got the Tacomo 101t irons and he’s had them for
Around about a year now so he knows his distances he’s been getting his good ball fights it’s not the irons that maybe’s been holding him back it’s a certain club that we replaced only a couple of weeks ago thanks to Mrs Harrison but his irons he’s been hitting
Them well he knows his distances he knows how they are going to fly and he’s also made some changes at the top of the bag to fit him with his irons again just for me here I know the distance that this n iron should travel it only just carried over there as
Dave’s laughing because he wanted it to go in the bunker but I know how far these clubs go Dave knows how far these clubs go but we’re going to put that to the test now and see if he can hit the green with every single line in the bag
We’re going to give him two attempts because as an average golfer you’re probably going to miss more greens Than You’ll hit and that’s probably you thinking well no I should hit more greens but on average you’re more than likely going to hit less than nine greens a around so for you there it’s
Less than 50% so we’re going to give Dave two golf balls with each Club can he hit the green can we see that these golf clubs are still the correct golf clubs for him he doesn’t need to change he doesn’t need to look for something
Else he has a new driver he also has another new club coming into his golf bag which might be from a similar brand that you’ve seen on the channel and what Dave is using so Dave’s in here now he’s got his pitching W because we’ve got 98
Ys to the flag so 500 y tour averages with inside 23 ft so for Dave as a mid handicap golf up we’re just trying to hit the green Dave’s laughing there because he said oh I hit it inside 23 ft every single time no I
Didn’t he was building up to that Dave I know I know he was right so we’re GNA give Dave Two Shots here how many can he get on the green again like I’ve just said there tour average is 23t from this distance so don’t beat yourself up if
You’re just on the green that’s what an everyday golfer should be looking for and that’s straight at it from Dave he wants to prove me wrong here that he gets it inside that and that’s a great shot straight away there so probably to around about 10t I’m sure it will say
But I can’t see the number there how far did it say Dave don’t know oh that’s a shame we’ll say it was 24t away there da just outside tore average but that was inside s average and this is what we’ve seen from Dave he’s got a good trajectory on there we’ve got Landing
Angle and that’s why Dave changed to these clubs hollow body design reasonable loss again there a little bit higher than the first one has it still got the carry of course it has if anything a little bit long but stopping nice and quick there which is why Dave went for
These clubs so we’ve now moved back 10 yards Dave’s gone to his 99 so he knows his gaping here this should be perfect for this distance but obviously Dave’s gone for a hollow body design so he’s not gone for something that is too big he’s not gone for something too chunky
There’s other options from Tacomo such as the 101s which are a little bit more offset and if you’re somebody who loses the ball to the right they might have been perfect for you for Dave we know his misses actually left so we went for something with a little bit less offset
And we can see from those shots DAV if anything hitting it straight or a little bit right of the flag but hollow body designs getting in the launch that it desires and that’s why they been so good this season right so in with 99 110 yards let’s see two for two so
Far that’s another one straight at it for Dave he’s getting his proximity here landing on the green and well inside tour average so so far so good for Dave he did say that he hasn’t played for a couple of weeks I and he’s going on holiday at the weekend so wish dayve a
Good holiday he going on a cruise I believe da yeah but oh there’s a simulator on on ship he taking you no oh do you good J M Sis’s nice but she’s not that nice well she did buy you a drive she did yeah yeah but yes so Dave’s not
Played much recently but we can see he comes back to these clubs we know that he’s got the right shout in there the KBS regular shafts that won’t be best but it’s working for me a little bit left long a little bit long but I don’t mind to see
That and that’s a Miss I don’t mind to see so Dave’s actually gone a little bit long long there so a lot of people come up short because they think they hit their eyes a little bit further than they actually do so for Dave there we
Know little bit of a pull that’s exactly what we’d expect to see we’re going to go back another 10 yards we’re going to go to Dave’s aing and see if we can keep the Run going so guys it’s that time of the year where you need to be thinking
About through the winter making sure you know your yardages know how far your clubs go and if you do go for a fitting make sure you take your clubs along with you and see if there’s actually any benefit think about what kind of flight window you want to see what kind of
Flight you need you need something that’s a little bit higher launching you need something lower launching is that just going to be the different shaft in there because again options for you to be able to change shafts in your golf clubs it may be a cheaper option than
Buying a full new set with those shafts in them so think about it do you need to just change your shafts do you need to get a different head design or are they perfect still for you it’s not always going to be better changing your golf clubs but start to know your distances
If you’re going to get fit make sure they are going at least maybe 10 yard yards further all the going 10 yards higher depending what you need to lower your scores going into 2024 fittings are essential but knowing your distances before you go into that fitting can help
You in the fitting not by some clubs just because you feel you was pushed into them a little bit they’ve said they go 10 yards further when actually they don’t right 120 yards for Dave here so a time is the club of choice now for Dave and here we’re very much working on
It’s 120 yards to the flag looking at Dave’s carry numbers here that’s the big number we want to know we want to make sure that he’s carrying over the trouble Dave how was that strike bit fat little bit heavy yeah that’s a great example there that’s a little bit heavy
A slight m strike there from Dave but it’s only just come up short so if there wasn’t any bunkers there that would have still made the green and this is where we’ve seen forgiveness from these irons and that’s why Dave has gone for these Hollow bodied irons which we have
Mentioned before because it’s getting that forgiveness Dave is a 1300 handicap golfer so he’s got a very good handicap but he still wants forgiveness we all want forgiveness so he hasn’t gone for a cavity back hasn’t gone for a muscle back design he’s gone for whatever is
Going to make him perform the best but we all really know it was because of that price oh very true o bit to the right yes but a nice high launching shot Dave is it the number of course it is again a little bit long we don’t mind that from Dave it
Was a little bit clean which would have got him a little bit more distance but so far Dave obviously that’s just gone long but we would have reasonable chips from both of those shots wouldn’t we yeah I sometimes think that the gaping between the nine and the eight isn’t
Quite 10 yards if I hit a decent one it’s going probably three 133 135 yeah so maybe 15 yards and that again is a great point from Dave there he thinks the Gap is a little bit longer so he may obviously in the win to practice some
Three quter shots with his a time when it has got those gaps and that’s why we want want to do this whilst we’re practicing make sure that we know the numbers know the exact gaping because it’s not always going to be 10 yards 10 yards 10 yards it might move to a 15
Yard gap which then makes you think about the higher end of your bag so Dave’s going to knock us back to3 here so like Dave just mentioned there a good one with his ATI might get to 133 total it’s not Landing there this is where obviously Dave’s going to go with his s
Iron this should land on the green and get over the truck you need to make sure this year guys that you are getting on the green and not being short that’s a great towering shot there from the 7 iron Landing in the middle of the green it is the the most narrowest
Green on the golf Zone simulator but that would have stopped on the green there nice landing angle so in again for Dave we’ve only had the one shot short which is great again like we’ve said there narrow green which it can be on a golf course so we can’t blame
That okay that’s a nice taring shot straight up the flag this time Dave and again that would have landed nice and soft on a green fantastic shot there good dispersion from all these irons right this is the area of Dave’s Golf Bag where he does look to change so
At the end of back end of last season he did introduce a six hybrid so he got the 11 hybrids he got a six a five a four and a three so he took out his six iron but he does also use that so in the summer when it’s running a little bit
Further he has been using his six iron cuz that is an alternative club for him to use and he might switch it in and out but let’s go back another 10 yards let’s bring his six IR in and then we’re going to show you the differences between that
And his six hybrid so again talking gapping we’ve gone a little bit further back here cuz Dave’s closer to 150 155 with the six iron so let’s see we can see straight away there a great launch on that little bit heavy just ran up to the edge or onto The Fringe there
And that’s exactly what we start to see from this again yeah a shorter shaft than a hybrid and this is where obviously we’ve got the direction we still got a good Ball flly but we wasn’t maybe getting as much distance as he wanted from his six iron that’s a nice towering shot again
Should get there a strike that is up and onto the green so Dave’s working on that club speed this winter with his speed sticks we’re hoping to get this 69 back into the bag day yeah I am I I just think that you get a bit more a bit
Better penetrating flight with it than I do with the hybrid um hybrids are well and good but over here in the UK you know we we have more windy days than we do cam days so it’s sometimes handier and that’s it for dve is not always
Going to have the hybrid in the B if it’s a warm summer day and the greens are hard it might go hybrid for a landing angle but if it’s winter or it’s just normal the UK and it’s Breezy then an iron’s going to be perfect in the Goa
But let’s grab your six hybrid Dave so we’ve dropped it back now another 10 yards so 164 yards here so again a little bit further back but we’ll see the trajectories on here and we’ll also see the total distance trajectory straight away a little bit higher there just coming up short there
But how far is that carry Dave um Carry was bang on 151 151 so not your best strike no best still higher straight away so interesting there with a slight Mis strike it did go higher than the 6on exactly what Dave’s been seeing on that golf course that’s a higher powering shot is
That going to get up there again 151 carry so this is very interesting there for Dave obviously we have to start to see how far they are going maybe his hybrid is not going as far as we thought because we’ve just checked and the the shaft length is a little bit longer but
Probably only half an inch so we’d have to think about those numbers they are very close but we know we’re going to get that higher trajectory from his hybrid we’re going to get that more penetrating ball flight from his iron so Dave has to think about which one is
Going to go into his bag which one is right for the occasions he’s playing but guys obviously there’s a lot of clubs coming out at the moment but don’t think that new is always better think about what kind of ball fight you trying to achieve what you’re trying to do in your
Lessons and how you are trying to get better at golf this year in 2024 hopefully you enjoy that guys and if you have if you’re not a subscriber please hit that button below and join us watching Dave’s journey of how he gets on this year as well as how all the
Clubs will perform going throughout this season guys thanks for watching and we’ll see you here tomorrow

For some reason never hit Hybrid well I typically stay with Traditional looking Irons.
Too late! T150s were too good to pass up.
I've got Apex 19 Pro Dots with deep wear spots and have just ordered the Apex 24 Cb/Mb combos. Before that I had the 2014 Apex Pros. Funny thing is I got fitted for all of them, they've all just had the best combination of consistency and dispersion every time for me
Hi Chris the tokomo 101T irons Dave is using I am very interested in getting the irons myself however not been able to see and try them makes me unsure. What size head would you compare them to thanks
Very interesting, a good topic for a video. Looking forward to the next instalment. Happy cruising Dave.
Dave is going on a cruise 🚢 for holiday, wow either Dave or Mrs Harrison had spent some money 💴 for this holiday. Enjoy your cruise Dave and Mrs. Harrison.
Chris my swing speed is pretty close to Daves, what are his specs on his iron shafts?
Not changed my irons since 2015 when I was fitted for Ping G30 irons and its great since. But my grooves have been getting worse and so it time for change. I have a fitting at my local centre next week and will certainly look for to get some new irons and maybe even some newer wedges too
I just purchased the Mizuno 225 irons and I’m a little nervous about how much my yardages will change
I got fit in February 2023 for all 14 clubs from PXG's for my Retirement present to myself and loving them , I am 63 YO and have no desire to buy anything new , I will die playing these PXG;s !!!
I need a new body or step into Lee Majors golf shoes (6 million dollar Man) I definitely need rebuilding. Can you help?
