Rory Rory Rory what are you doing like I I get why you’ve done this interview and I get why you’ve said what you’ve said but after everything that you have said over the last 18 months I’m like oh what is going on now Rory maroy has come out

And said he would be open to playing a tournament backed by live golf if the controversial tour became more like crickets IPL leag now don’t forget over the last 18 months Rory has been one of the biggest people against the live golf circuit whether that was him personally or he was told

To is this a U-turn now as we go through this we’ve got the exact interview and comments from Rory himself that together let’s analyze let’s read between the lines and let’s see if we can piece together what is exactly happening because it could mean a multitude of

Things now I just want to put this out there I am a huge Rory fan I’m just trying to look at this from an unbiased point of view and just looking at it from the exact way of going well he said all this over the last 18 months how can he now say

This oh I just feel like something’s not quite right here now it’s important just to note that the merger between Liv Golf and the PJ tour is still in TS and has been extended till well hopefully fingers crossed and agreement will be met before The Masters the first major

Of the year but I’ll be perfectly honest I’ll be surprised if it’s not pushed back again because we had the same discussion when we were sort of going towards the deadline of the 31st of December 2023 so don’t hold your breath on that one so let’s dive into exactly

What Rory has said and there are some lengthy statements here but it’s important really listen to what he said now Rory first said said I would love live to turn into an IPL of golf they take two months of the calendar you go and do this team stuff and it’s a bit

Different and it’s a different format if they were to do something like that I would say yeah that sounds like fun because you are working within the ecosystem but isn’t this what Liv golf were trying to do to start with I feel like the PJ tour sort of had the red rag

To a bow and they decided to go and do more this is sort of the idea that was put in place in the first place so if you’re wondering what the IPL is well here you go the IPL began in 2008 and has grown to become Cricket’s most high-profile lucrative franchise T20

League where players paid huge sums of money to play in the competition and largely given a free window in support of this calendar so essentially players who play international and team Cricket are offered this calendar this spot to go and play IPL every single year and it

Is absolutely massive now one of the biggest differences between Liv Golf and the established tour is Liv’s golf circuit being based around team events with 48 players split into 12 teams so this I guess could be a almost two months or a month or four weeks however

They want to do this of golf where all the best players work together now when Rory is saying this is he saying this because it has already happened is he saying this because he wants an invite and wants a big payday like the likes of John Ram like I’m

Getting so many mixed messages I really want to encourage you to get down the comments and let me know exactly what you think on this story because it really has me gripped now let’s not forget what Rory has said in the past Rory said if LIF golf was the last place

To play on Earth he would not not play so essentially saying he never wants to play live golf now how many players have said that before done the U-turn got the contract taking the money and I just think this might be happening I’m I’m not putting two and two together but

John Ram has no team right now Rory has supported John Ram going over to play live golf and said John Ram should still be included in the Ridder cup is this that uh is this does this mean he’s joining him oh my God I don’t know now he has also

Said some other things recently and these are more in favor or I would say more balanced the thing is I have come to realize if you’ve got old people or a soving wealth fund wanting to spend money in your sport that is ultimately a good thing but you just want to get them

To spend it in the right way and spend it on things that are important in the game instead of giving 100 million why not give 50 million into Grassroots programs for for the RNA or usgaa spending that money to actually grow the game of golf and not just buy Talent

Would be a better way I totally agree with that Rory but unfortunately if you look at any other sports that just doesn’t happen look at the Premier League in football look at the IPL in cricket people want to watch the biggest Stars play all in one place and this could be

That this could be that I think the I think this IPL thing could be a thing and that’s what Rory could be alluding to I Really really do I’ve seen other sort of rumors on this of Phil Mickelson saying all the best players are going to play together at some

Point there is some strong rumors flying about here so let’s dive into Rory’s comments a little more he also said this I was maybe a little judgmental of the guys who went to live golf at the start and I think it was a bit of a mistake on

My part because I now realize not everybody is in my position or Tiger’s position we all turn to professional golf to make a living I can’t judge people for making that decision so I regret anything if it was probably being too judgmental at the start okay we’re getting some more indications that he’s

Turning his view on what live golf is and what money is available saying ultimately people aren’t in his and Tiger’s position so I don’t blame them for taking the money now this is where things get a little bit more interesting he sort of comments on The Narrative of John Ram says this

John is smart and sees things coming together I.E the merger at some point he said okay I will take a lot of money up front which is his prerogative and if things come together I’ll play Live go for a year and come back to the tour and play Team golf on the

Fringes this is seriously interesting there is so many Clues here for me and what I think is a few things does this mean a U-turn from him maybe 50/50 on that but is this him trying to almost get an offer from Liv go almost him a

Bit of a public apology to that he shouldn’t have said what he said now I actually firmly believe that Rory was maybe goed into saying a few things by the PJ tour because of his position with in the PJ tour I feel sometimes like he was a little bit of a scapegoat a

Sacrificial lamb and he used those words himself so I’m I’m taking a few of the things that he said negative with the pinch assault some of them I’m taking very seriously but this is a huge uturn in Rory maro’s thinking in my opinion on live golf I think he’s really alluding

To what could be being written up in the framework agreement this IPL of golf and I think this could be the way in which we have a DP World Tour PGA Tour and live golf all working together in a more condensed schedule that maybe doesn’t

Happen once a year but twice a year it’s seriously getting interesting and as soon as we have more information on this I’ll be sure to keep you up to date thanks so much for listening and don’t forget to subscribe to the channel for all the breaking news in the golf industry

  1. The double standard irks me. Rory as got plenty of Saudi money in his off shore bank account. Can't knock the man's golf or his legacy. But it's just a bunch of rich folks moaning about irrelevant bullshit. These guys dont represent club golfers.

  2. Everytime he comes on my screen I actually turn it off. However I watched him on the footie lads video and he's made such an asshole of himself I've no idea where to begin

  3. He's changed his mind with more information becoming available. Whats wrong with that? Intially he defended the thing he represented and loved with passion. What a guy. I think he made perfect sense in the podcast. More power to him. At least he spoke up. The guy is a legend.

  4. I don’t think Rory was ever against it. I think he was asked/paid by the pga to rally the troops and to support the pga. The. After the betrayed their own players he had enough…..

  5. We forget that he's a boy that couldn't finish school, knows how to hit a golf ball. who now finds himself in this space. However, his example of the IPL is exactly what I was thinking. Except that Americans won't understand anything related to Cricket.

  6. I think you have misconstrued his comments completely. LIV is not an add-on to the current tours, it is trying to compete against the PGA tour. IPL, while detrimental to test cricket, is not in direct competition. It also is responsible for uncovering budding talent. However, I only watch test cricket but there is a huge fan base for IPL. To each his own.

  7. Rory is the biggest flip flopper af all time. He has jumped from neutral to anti liv over the time Liv has been around. I was a big fan of Rory but have no respect for him now. I am a club golfer in aus and most of my golfing mates think the same.

  8. Rory and the pga tour have all back tracked lately it’s laughable. After Rambo cashed in to grow the game
    lol.

  9. So, if people want yo see the "best players in the world" play they need to watch the PGA, that's how you get the kudos of being world number 1, 2 whatever. Once you join LIV you are just an exhibition golfer playing for money. Will, the kids out there who want to play golf for a job want to be world number 1, like their heroes, or for they just want to earn a load of cash!

  10. I’m sorry, but the way he’s acted in recent months has really overshadowed his career achievements. If he was to stop tomorrow I don’t think I’d care and if I’m honest I don’t think golf would suffer as a result.

I suspect this sudden u-turn indicates that something is in the works, the buyout is inevitable and he’s basically undoing his words to make sure he’s included. He’s left the tour board under the guise of concentrating on his career, but I suspect he’s trying to make himself as free of an agent as possible to avoid any conflict of interest between, LIV, PGA Tour and TGL.

  11. I watched that same interview and I didn't read into it anything other than trying to get a solution to this issue. Its masdively screwed up by both the tour and Liv. There is never going to be a solution.

No Rory stated he wouldn't play in LIV golf and he stated that he is happy where he is as he feels at home. Stop making it more out of it.

  12. I said already in your comment box when rydercup controversy happened…rory decided as pga tour environment is harmful for his future career

  13. Tigerwoods and patrick cantlay ..liv golf is not interested to join those people..but i think they are looking now for no1 ranker in owgr points

  14. greg wanted the top players in international tournaments years ago, he is not far from it today,it was right then & its right now ?

  15. Every time mcilroy opens his mouth he makes a bigger clown of himself. What a twat. Can’t wait for his first interview at a LIV event. He’ll be playing it because it’s great for the game, bringing in a new audience blah blah blah and pocket his £millions. What a fucking hypocrite pmsl

  16. That is exactly what LIV initially proposed, and Monahan told them to pack sand. Rory is saying this now, because I'd bet anything that is how the new framework is going to be set up, and he wants a piece of the money so he is laying the groundwork now. He is such a little hypocrite it's ridiculous.

  17. Rory 3 months ago
    “ I hate LIV golf -I hate it “
    Rory today
    “ I love LIV golf -I love it “
I do like a little fella that knows his own mind 😂😂

  18. The biggest problem I have with LIV is that the television product is almost unwatchable. It's like golf meets NASCAR meets WWF. Way too many moving parts.

  19. he talked toooooooo much crap, I hope he dont play in Liv. The way I see it, Liv will have the Best Golfers in the World, You can almost say that now, I dont know what kind of Coolaid your drinking,,, as of right now, All Pro golfers want to play for Liv.

  20. Sounds like a super league in the making. Best players playing in teams touring on top world venues. For top dollars!

  21. I don’t think Rory has changed his mind…. I think he has realised he was being used as a mouthpiece for the USPGA…he believed and was happy to regurgitate the lies he was being fed….for some reason his eyes have been opened to the reality and he now sees that LIV is not the big enemy he was led to believe…. I’m sure that’s why he left the players committee thing too…..Tiger will realise his mistake soon enough too.

  22. Mcillroy lost it way, way back last year. He opened his gob, shot his mouth off, and now he looked foolish. Why do you think Pro's like jorden and others knew to keep their mouths shut. Hmm! Immature or inexperienced

  23. So Rory's answer is for them to just give the money to us and we will spend it for you? (Grassroots programs) Rory is a petulant child. When he took shot after shot at Greg Norman he sealed his fate. People under 40 probably have no idea how great Greg Norman was. He was number one in the world for a ridiculous amount of weeks in a row.

  24. They are hypocrites, last year Jon Rahm distanced himself from LIV, but another 50 million to 450 million and he moves over, and now the greed is starting to sway Rory to playing in LIV events. The greed and the mismanagement of the PGA tour has seen money means more to the players, maybe if the players are not members of the PGA tour than they should be barred from playing the majors?

  25. I think I will keep playing golf, but for sure I will not watch or follow it anymore. Just like millions of us stopped watching the nfl.

  26. It's the perfect time to pair liv players against PGA tour players in a pay-per-view match for the good of the game.

  27. You might want to go watch the interview again. Rory stops himself SEVERAL times from finishing statements that would have more defined his point of view/agenda. He's still trying to hedge his statements.

  28. It does not change anything: LIV is an organization financed by blood money from an oppresive, anti-democratic and human rights ignoring government. Whoever dares to speak out against the Saudi ruler will end up in prison or dead. That is for who LIV players and Norman work and from whom they get their money. No matter how you try to white wash the matter. A disgrace for golf players and for human man kind in 2024.

  29. Sounds as though Rory’s being pragmatic in recognising that LIV isn’t going away and therefore is adopting a revised position along the lines of ‘ if you can’t beat them, join them’. If it’s not a ‘U turn’ then I don’t know what is.
