The committee has voted. Here are your 2023 Golden Whiskers Awards Nominees.

N Pap La what’s going on everybody Welcome to palet cats live the golden whiskers nomination show it’s been a while we’ve had a few hiccups already today but as I was chatting with people earlier I said I had to remember how to do this streamyard has changed up just a little

Bit since the last time we used it but uh we’re here we’re rolling uh we got a bunch of people in chat got 75 people watching and I just want to start off by saying thank you uh to my boom Squad members foa customs and gear been a member for

26 months thank you Freddy and Nina and family and then I had another pop up here just a second ago fishing with Big Mike remember for 30 months said Awards time yeah what’s going on Mike and then we just had another one pop up Tony Harrison he said congratulations paletto

Thank you for 29 months so uh thank you all for being boom Squad members and for those of you who um yeah chat is flying it’s going crazy um those of you who I didn’t mention I just thank you and I put a little special thing in the intro for

You well um I was hoping we’d have some people up here tonight from the nomination committee but I’m not going to wait we’re going to keep on rolling tonight um is typically a uh not a long show but it’s uh it’s been about an hour definitely and I want to go through and

I want to make sure that everybody um knows number one who the nominees are uh who the nomination committee is how they everyone was selected and um you know dealing with whatever comes along that way um hopefully uh this is the fourth year we’ve done this so hopefully

Uh we’ve got a awesome process down and uh most people will be at least happy with the process even if they’re not happy with the results which you know you can never you can never please anybody when it comes to results but I am very happy with the committee’s

Choices and uh we have you all to thank for that mostly from the Facebook page the golden whiskers Facebook page and from the uh golden whiskers fany suggestions those of you who don’t do Facebook I sent out a survey so that you can put your nominees in there to give

Our uh committee a place to start you know videos to look at and several of them said I hadn’t even seen these videos before from some of them so great job from the community you stepped up you put some new videos out that people haven’t seen yet so thank you for that

And I see a lot of new names in here and a lot of old school names too I’m not going to call all 90 of you out but I just see you and I love you and I appreciate you coming in um it’s been a while since I have done this and uh

We’re going to get rolling here first of all those of you who are new to the golden whisk whiskers and I’ll do this quickly it was H supposed to be a joke four years yes thank you woohoo fish and magician uh thank you for that go go

Check out fish and magician guys he just put out a catch and cook video which is a category in the golden whiskers where he fried catfish and Trout from a local pond and had some fish tacos uh thank you Mor Mor is killing it go check mark

Out thank you for the 499 Super Chat my friend um this is the fourth year the first year was um it was just supposed to be something fun Michael Millo uh all of you know him a good friend of all of ours um he suggested we do like a parody

You know hey let’s have the Palamino Awards and you know because everybody messed up the name and everything and and uh so I thought it was a great idea he’s always full of awesome ideas so we started uh you know coming up with categories and whatever and uh then our

Buddy Tom from LG bass he suggested a name the golden whiskers which was awesome so it was a uh Union of ideas between myself Mike Millo and LG bass um basically Mike had the original idea Tom came with the name and I did the categories and here we are today now we

Have a committee of it was supposed to be 10 people um unfortunately uh you know one of our committee me Members passed and we’ll talk about that KP and then um one of them moved on from the community hadn’t seen that person in a while and so we added one more to fill

That spot so it was an odd number but um how the how how this works is uh fans all year or creators add their content to the Facebook golden whiskers page for nomination possible nomination um and then about a month or two ago I put out several documents forms Google forms so

That if you don’t have Facebook you can type in who you thought should be nominated and between compiling all of those I didn’t discriminate against any of them unless the video didn’t exist or it went against the guidelines which I think we we didn’t even have any this

Year that did that um but everything that was put up there as long as it fit the category I put it in our committee members uh vote which they did last week um we even had to have some tie Breakers um and I’ll explain that as well

Um when we get there but we had uh tiebreakers and then as of the day before yesterday we had our final Comm our final uh nominees we took three in each category only three except for the Junior and the youth and we’ll get there we’ll talk about that when we

Get there that’s about it the and then uh when we get to catcon um in February we’ll have a show that Friday night where I’ll put together video montages and um we’ll we’ll talk about who won we’ll give the awards out but um when we’re

Done with this I will create a form for everyone to fill out and uh it’s an extensive form but I made it so easy all you have to do is click and submit click and submit but you’ll have an opportunity to vote for the nominees that you’ll hear tonight starting

January 1st so Monday morning 12:01 a.m. you can start voting for your favorites and the voting will stop at 12:01 February 1st and then the voting will be closed what’s done is done um you know that’ll be it and you’ll know the results at the end of February at the

Catfish concer conference if you can’t make it to the conference don’t worry I live stream the results from the conference and if you’re not familiar with that go back and check out um last year’s and the year before is they were held live from the catfish conference

The first one was held right here year except I was facing that way um that was the first one but here we are year four um all right well I’m going to stop yammering on we got 112 116 people watching make sure you hit that thumbs

Payne Michael Chavez myself Josh dunigan Matt Walbert Tanya Hollis and Chris Lee um those are the people that were active in the community I mean in the nomination committee they voted on everything um we are missing of course KP passed us passed aways in heaven waiting on us to get there a couple

Months months ago and um we had another Nick Sheely I haven’t seen him in a while but um Nick I hope you’re doing great out there man um but anyway thank you for those people if you see those people thank them as well because uh they had to make these hard

Decisions all right the first category we’re going to go over is the international Channel this is any channel not in the United States and unfortunately we only had two nominations so um here are the nominees we selected both fishing reminder and local marks fishing so congratulations fishing reminder and local marks fishing

You made the uh vote the decision for the committee very easy um because those are the only two of course we take three if there’s three if not that’s it so congratulations to those two channels again fishing reminder and local marks fishing congratulations uh the next category is

The thumbnail of the year um we uh take three and we had three submitted so all three made it and that would be the bait shop uh deer melhorn fishing and fishing and stuff and uh here are those slides here this is the first one it was on the bait

Shop the catfish Queen terara Blackburn the second one was by deer melhorn fishing catfish angler dies in tournament and then the third one was night fishing hacks by fishing and stuff so thank you to those that submitted those uh thumbnails those are only three submitted so all three made it

Congratulations uh next is our parody of the year um we only had two submissions so those two got in we have um muddy river catfishing he made a video about um well I guess I could click on it let’s see how this works here guys muddy river

Get me a a um a guard dog at cat conference all right we’re moving on to our young people’s Awards and um you noticed I said or maybe didn’t if you weren’t here I said that we um have more than just three um nominees and that’s because I

Feel like and a lot of other people feel like it’s not my idea actually um I feel like we should celebrate the youth so every youth anger or Junior angler that was nominated has made it in uh you had to go to the site you had to nominate them we just

Didn’t pick from who’s ever out there um but we accepted everyone um and I will have something for every single kid angler out there they will all be recognized so um so that’s a little change from last year so here are the uh youth Anglers that were nominated youth is under 11

Years old so as early as they can fish until 10 years old um they were they were nominated and that is Mason Blackburn from Jay Dogs Gone Fishing Ethan and Ellen from two STS fishing Action Jackson from Elgato Azul TV Canon Payne from 3+1 Outdoors uh Lauren Millo for millo’s family

Fishing Max L uh son of bradle Leo Riverland Rose and Wyatt Shelton congratulations I tried to confirm that um all these angl were Anglers were under 11 I didn’t hear back from some but if uh if they are over 11 just message me and let me know if you would

And I’ll put them in the junior angler category I won’t cancel their their nomination but um I’ll definitely move them to the correct age class but um you’ll get to vote for there will be a winner I do believe that you know even kids should learn that there’s a first

Place and then there’s not a first place but um I will um have something for every nominee uh that is up here on this screen so uh congratulations to all those uh junior angler or that’s not Jun youth Anglers and then we’ll move on to the junior Anglers which is from 11 to

17 um it was 16 last year but I didn’t make a concession because 18 is kind of when you’re like an adult and you’re kind of you know you can do a lot more things um so we did from 11 to 17 um for this category and that’s

Junior Anglers look at there Tak down rod holder said he’ll donate a rod holder to all youth Anglers thanks Austin that’s awesome man some great people out there not just because he donated Austin’s an awesome guy in general all right here we go Junior Anglers that were nominated were Gabe dufor from

Creole catfishing tamaron Greg from outdoor Wicked Adventures Kota from Danny Stone Outdoors Coulson Horn Hunter I’m I’m not sure to say this last name I’m going to say t Tam or Tei I’m probably way off on that and then Robby Marino from fishing with Robbie again if um these Anglers are

Under 11 any of them are under 11 which I don’t think so uh based on the pictures just let me know and I’ll put them in the correct category but again there will be a first place so when you vote you vote for the angler the junior

Angler of the year year there will be a junior angler of the year and a youth angler of the year but I will ask if they want to all these um kids to come up on the stage and they will receive something in honor of being nominated so that is our young

Got all my Awards I’ve gotten from fans I got the original golden whisker ones up there too all right here we go best new talent for 2023 fishing fever outdoor Wicked adventures and rigging for fatties congratulations there were I think seven nominees seven were nominated but we had to narrow it down

To three um and so congratulations the nine committee members voted on these for the top three congratulations all right next is our catch and cook um now I’ll talk about this after we do it so basically if you caught a fish in a video and cooked it in the video you

Were uh could nominate your video for that award and there were probably 12 nine to 12 that were um suggested for nomination so here goes River certified gills and girls and myself paletto cats now I need to stop and I need to talk about this um I’ve struggled for

Years to accept nominations and the past three years I have not accepted any nominations at all despite my wife getting on me about it my friends getting on me about it um it just feels weird but um again this year I’ve been told to you know just accept it

Because of whatever reason um I’m not going to elaborate any more than that it feels weird to me and if there’s any drama out of it I’ll just cancel it and I’ll give the next person in line the nomination but um um I’m I’m going to accept it this

Year I feel very humbled by the amount of nominations I got this year especially because I didn’t put out as much content this year as I’ve done in the past past but um I’m extremely humbled by it and there were at least four tiebreakers that had to do with my

Channel and when I sent those to the committee I did not vote on those and I have I have it in results if anybody wants to see um you know in private you know we’ll I’ll show you in private at the catfish conference or whenever you want um how every everyone voted you’ll

See I did not vote in a category that was a tiebreaker that included myself I also didn’t vote for myself at all to be nominated in any category so uh I know Josh dunigan he’s on the um uh he is on the committee as well and he received

Some not and won some awards last year and he wanted the same thing to be known for him and I can tell you 100% that um Josh was very straight up with everything very transparent as you know Josh is amazing Josh is an awesome dude

So I just want to let you know um I will accept the nomination I’m I’m very thankful for it and if I happen to win it it’s going to be really weird for me to present but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there but again

If there’s any drama from it I will happily deny the nomination and give it to the next person but here here are those best C catch and cook again and I appreciate all the comments I I see you guys over there I just the chat’s going

Live talk show of the year um so this is a show that comes on and there’s no uh not necessarily any fishing but it’s all about um talking about fishing and well in in some cases more more than just fishing about life but um they usually

Have a fishing background to them um hey JG all right here we go the nominees are the bores Nest on hog leg catfishing chat with muskrat and creole and that’s on two channels that’s on muskrat adventures and creole catfishing and the bait shop which is on fields to water so

Congratulations to all of you we appreciate all you do weekend and or weekend and week out and for leg every day but Friday so we appreciate you guys um there are definitely like um I think six six nominees and um you know that’s who the committee voted for for the three

USB out I don’t know where you heard me but I’ll go back and I’ll say this category used used to just be innovation in video production um and ideas but all the nominations coming in there also inventions inventors people um people that do make new things and Innovations for the catfishing industry

As well so you’ll see nominees and we had nominees from businesses um creators um the whole gambut so it’s kind of opened up the the uh P the uh open up the category a little more we had more people nominated so the top three from all those people

Were the fishing magician 2.0 for his um innovation in video production and all the different angles and and the ideas he comes up with guard dog for creating uh an a tool in the industry that has been widely used and foa cssm gear again uh for innovation in um rods for youth

Things uh other organizations but I think the golden whiskers needs one so um we’ve only had three there’s um epic catfish Muddy River catfish and Chris Flores and Steve Douglas was the first so three amazing guys who uh contributed lots to the catfish Community um tons tons more than most of

You even know more than I even knew at the time but um here are next set of nominees you can only be you can only win the award once you can only be a Hall of Famer one time so uh Steve Douglas and epic and Chris Flores were

All nominated again but you guys are already in there you can’t be nominated again so we you know we scrub them out so here are the top three nominees for Hall of Fame Chris saers ly Stokes and Tim doc Lang congratulations gentlemen I think this is probably the most prestigious

Awards um yeah Luke Nichols was also a nominee but he wasn’t selected um Chris S actually Luke Nichols was in there last year um but we are proud of all three of these men Chris sers L Stokes and Tim doc Lang you know Chris SS uh from SL slunger cat

From um from his tournament experience from the show that he did uh his YouTube presence all he does for the community um Chris sers is around everywhere and uh he was nominated last year and uh you know just can’t say enough about the guy just an amazing amazing person

Uh Lyall Stokes been around for a long time uh catfish Weekley for nine or 10 years straight I think it’s nine years straight y’all correct me if I’m wrong um you know for his work with the catfish conference uh from his work with tournament scene I know he definitely

Was a heavy hitter uh in those tournaments with his wonderful bride Cindy um you know still does a lot for the community and uh is amazing fella and I got the privilege to meet him and Chris sers I met Chris several times I met um got to meet Lyall at uh patri

James tournament a couple years ago so congratulations ly has been around since the grand can was a muddy ditch but yeah uh and then uh definitely last but not least uh doc Lang who um was a previous co-host with Lyall on and catfish weekly um still fishes I think

Every day and uh I think everyone who goes down to his new home um in Alabama goes to fish with him and he’s always opened up his mind for advice for people to pick his brain um huge in tournament scene still does tournaments still fishes like he’s just as young as he was

I’ve seen some old footage of him at catfish conference is giving seminars and just the wealth of knowledge that he brings um you know I learned how to tie the snail knot watching one of his videos um so actually it wasn’t his video it was someone filming him doing

It might have been the weekend anger I’m not sure but uh three amazing gentlemen and uh I hope that all three of you feel honored if you’re watching um but that’s that’s such a tough choice that’s a tough choice to make Creo says Doc is

Such a humble guy yes I’ve I’ve not met Doc in person but I’ve spoken with him on the phone and um back when I first started my live show he came up on a show was just amazing person to be with and then ly and Doc had me on Catfish

Like you all to stay in um and I’ll go through it very quickly but uh here are Switching gears to our current standings in our live fishing tournament League this is the league that I started with Brian B fishing and shireena and some others and since then it’s been mostly

Me and Brian B doing tournaments and then Chad got in on one um he’s doing one next uh month that you need to get on on and there’s been some others that have come in there and it’s just it’s going to get even bigger next year guys

But and more organized I’ll say that current standings um two stands fishing is in the lead Cool Cats fishing fever this is your top 10 um the winner of the next one gets 15 points get 15 points for for um participating you see all the completed tournaments over there and

Then there’s two tournaments left two tournaments left and those are the fourth annual winter Blues that’s January 13th and the 20th 9:00 a. to 3 pm. I’m not sure if it’s full or not but I know that there’s a lot of people fishing it so if maybe Chad or D can

Chime in and let me know if it’s full let everybody know if it’s full or not and then this one is the last one the one I’m doing the whisker Bowl that’s the day before the Super Bowl February 10th at 8: a.m. it’ll go 8

To 8 to1 I believe and this one it was going to be fishing on your own channel but we’ve kind of changed gears and this is kind of like big news for next year’s tournaments um it’s full and actually it’s the 13th 14th and 20th okay there

You go you got three dates and it’s all full um the whisker bowl is not full because we can have as many as we want I think Brian B is going to help me host and what we’re going to do uh starting on the whisker Bowl tournament and any tournament in the

Future to make it fair is that anybody who is declared for the league which you’ll have to do next year you’ll have to declare that you want to fish for points uh so that way I don’t have to keep track of all your points but um if

You declare for the league and the spots fill up the nine are already taken or streamyard then we’ll get a host uh for instance Brian B will host another nine and we’ll do those two um channels that whole tournament on the same day for instance let’s say that for

The whisker Bowl we have 18 Anglers I’ll do nine and Brian will do nine we’ll go live at the same time 8:00 am to 1 pm and they will compete simultaneously on two different channels uh if we get 36 or um what’s the 27 Anglers and we add a

Third Channel or if we get over 18 that way there’s nobody that can say I didn’t get to fish and that’s why I didn’t get points but um there you have it that’s that’s the big thing we will have a um Perpetual trophy for the winner this

Year and I decided today that the name of the Perpetual trophy is going to be in honor of KP and it’s going to be called the KP Memorial Cup and uh I’m designing that right now and I would have already bought it but I’m waiting on the winner so I can put their

Name on it but the uh we will honor the live fishing tournament League the trophy that gets passed around like Stanley Cup will now be called the KP Memorial Cup and um everybody who lifts it it’s got a awesome description on it um I had it somewhere I’m not going to

Read it it’ll make me cry if I read it but it’s got an description on it that tells you about um in honor of KP we fish for joy and we need to remember the joy we get out of fishing instead of the other things and that uh for every

Person who lifts the trophy up they should feel the spirit of KP and the joy that he had from fishing and the fellowship that came through um what we do here so um that’ll be the Perpetual trophy that you get your name on and you you get to

Take it home for a year and bring it back to katcon and then the other trophy you’ll get a trophy to keep as well um so that’s that’s it guys it’s like yeah gave me goosebumps too look at I got them on me right now but um just that I

Was thinking of something we could do for KP and that’s the least I could think that we can do and so uh thanks to Wayne husa fracture fix Lyn leaper um and very ious others who’ve donated towards the live fishing League back when I first started it um that’s the

Ahead and get up there so thank you for his memory uh Lord we want to lift up Tim Scott and we lift up Dustin uh Lord they’re both in the hospital dealing with some personal injuries and uh Lord we just know that you’re going to heal

Them but we do pray for that because you ask us if we ask uh you’ll make it happen so we just ask for those healings Lord for those everybody who’s going through the flu right now my wife’s got the flu um for everyone who’s struggling Lord everybody that doesn’t know you I

Pray for them to come and know you and Lord as we go into this New Year Lord I just pray that you would bring a spirit of unity and togetherness uh to to everybody in the community from a a year that’s kind of been tumultuous at times and and Lord

You know the things that I’m referencing and people are thinking about right now and we just pray that uh you would uh make this community reflect values that that you would have us reflect in lastly Lord I just thank you for the benefit that we get the blessing that we have to

Great job getting your votes in and if you want to be on the committee next year I think we’re gonna rotate a bunch of people off um and just get a fresh set of Vis in and then rotate do a rotation system every couple years um
