simple changes I’ve made that have made my approach game way more consistent
So give you a little few tips oh by the way if you haven’t subscribed yet please subscribe I’m out today it’s a beautiful day today and I’m finally getting to play some disc golf which is fantastic love the sport but we’re going to get into it so um I’m dis Maniac by
The way if you guys don’t know okay so we’re going to talk about the approach game something I started doing recently that has helped me tremendously is I used to when I would actually go to actually throw approach an approach for me is probably 100 plus feet out maybe up to
Couple hundred feet um where I’m actually doing like a not a full power this type of form on this shot okay something that I used to do was I used to look away from The Target just like I would if I was going to do a normal will
Drive off the teapad and this has helped so much if you just I actually seen Kevin Jones do it in a tournament and I noticed what he did and I was like wow I’m doing this wrong so he stood here kind of shoulders slightly wider or feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart
And he leaned back over his opposite of your throwing hand so if your right hand it’s your left leg if your left hand it’s your right leg you’re lean back over that foot and you’ll push off that foot and throw but you always keep your eyes on the target don’t ever take your
Eyes off of them so let’s see if you can see the basket yeah you can see the basket okay so we’re going to use this basket for example I’ll lean back that was a little deep but it was definitely inside the circle okay now if you don’t have an area to do a
Like I like an easy approach for me is just stick it out of there on a heer and let it heer back to the basket aim right of the basket let it come in um filled work is another great tip if you have a basket if you don’t have a basket you
Can use your bag or discs or cones or whatever trees whatever aim for a specific Target out in the field that’s helped me a lot um but uh if you’re in a tunnel that’s a little different you may just practice those shots like if you
Want to go straight at it let’s say you want to go straight at it okay we’re going to go straight at it these I’m not as good at but we’ll give it a try Okay that was uh definitely an early release but but it’s definitely like the biggest
What helped me more than anything was just keeping my eye on the target sounds so simple those are some just quick little tips that seem to help me go get some field work in practice heiser’s straight shots um and keep your eyes on the target try to load that back
Leg and just uh use your hand as you pull through to just get the uh get the disc out there and uh it’s good to like you want to aim for the basket obviously but it’s good to have like a a circle in mind preferably inside the circle which
Is 33 ft around the basket so it makes it a lot easier when you have almost like a Target area to shoot for instead of just aiming for the basket I hope this helps you guys and I want to thank you guys for watching um be sure to like And subscribe till I
Catch you in the next one go on peace and be Blessed

Good tips for sure…i found this out pretty quickly, that it seems to work really well.
I wish I lived near you. I'd love to go for a round or 15 with ya!
Have a great new year mate!
An upshot throw I have (that near nobody mentions) that came from my days of throwing good ol catch frisbee's to friends…
Standing open to the target, front foot actually 30-45deg PAST straight (2 o'clock for my right hand backhand)…
staring at the target, straight arm Hyzer out and away where my leg was pointing, up about 30-45 deg (more wind, less height).
Basically you throw the disk in a big arc, out and away from where your looking… but with practice, I manage to near bullseye the target on the landing (to the point where i have shown someone what I do, aim at their bad 100ft away, and dang if i don't bowl over their bag…. If only I could do that in a game.
Another forward facing shot I use… is a WAY over stable disk, Anhyzer from above your back shoulder, aiming down directly at your target foot… and a good bit of oomph.
(I end up looking a little like a sword fencer, Rear arm above behind that shoulder…
Anyhooze, the result is an all weather straight shot that fades out hard with the over stability to land flat at the spot…
(Truth is this came from my early putting which was with my Pig… Either straight in with this Anhyzer, or a real wayward looking miss high and right, only to have it stall out and fall left into the basket at the last minute…
Very impressive to see when I pull it off… Very unreliable in any wind which is why I have to re learn putting…
Having said that… As the way my brain is wired is a little 'off skew' I quite often see/interpret/process things a bit odd, but it give me some great alternate ideas on how to fix things… but it means sometimes I don't quite get a method down as my brain wants to interpret something of it wrong…
And that seemed to be happening when "Aiming at a link in the chain" (Possibly because I think my brain is doing a neat (stupid) trick when "Aiming" at something… Instead of actually aiming, my brain would take over, recalculate subconsciously, and get the disk to where I was aiming, instead of just aiming there so the disk would go somewhere else…
You know the occasions… There's a line that requires the disk to turn before a tree… so you aim your disk AT the tree so it flips before it gets there… but your good ol gray matter takes over.. says "Right, the master wants to get that tree… recalculate so it goes further left then turns into the tree… I'm sure that's what he wants".
Result… The tree I aimed at, expecting the disk to turn before it gets there, instead goes left (But I aimed you AT the tree you inanimate piece of plastic) only for it to turn into the tree instead of turn in front….
Basically my brain sometimes outperforms me…
(Uhh did I get a little side tracked)…
Anyhooze….. I found, instead of aiming at a link in the chain… that sometimes had my brain just "Aim at the link" and the disk turns away… or actually calculating the path to that link…
I found a trick that seems to work WAY better (For ME)..
I now putt to put the disc over the top of the lower basket (Forget the chains.. Think of it like a big rubbish bin and you just want to pass the disk OVER the top.. (Not land it in it).
The result is instead of aiming at the chain and chancing my brain making that the actual final position of the disk (so it slows down & stalls off)… Now I'm just throwing a disk that will actually have a chance of passing the basket to the far side (I SOO OFTEN putted short previously).
It's a bit like kicking a field goal over posts… You don't aim your kick to finish at a point above the bar… so why was I putting with a finish point just above the basket.
So far, so good.. even today in strong winds I pulled off a couple of 20ft'ers with a lightweight base plastic putter that has otherwise ended it's flight a little flightily and anywhere but in.
(If you think that was a lot of typing you should hear me talk…. hmmm perhaps better you don't… and it's in a strong Kiwi (Keewhye) accent…
This is helpful. I watch of Robbie C videos and he says aim for the shot circle your best at. For example if you sink a 30’ putt all day long then that’s the approach or you want to for
I found out a few months ago, by accident, that this helped me tremendously. Not only in accuracy but also in controlling my power. The consistent power part I'm still working on, lol
Watch Simon throw short ace runs.
Only recently did I realize I should often use overstable discs for approaches. For quite some time, I was trying to throw straight approaches with a Judge. Sometimes, they were great. Other times, I would miss the angle nd turn them over and miss badly.
