The champ at the bill frell and then there’s one chance Last Chance qualifier in uh what is that the first weekend in April I believe so who all tell us about who all qualified for the Olympic trials out of our hwc guys Spencer Lee he won the
Bill Ferrell so he qualified the very first event of the year and then he went again to the US Open and and won that uh oh he actually stole a spot from somebody else at at 20 or at you know 57 kilos so only four guys got to go there
Um and then we had Austin Des Santo at 655 kilos he played six or excuse me fifth he beat uh guy from Michigan um uh I can’t think of his name right now but yeah um now that you say it my mind’s not going to work he lost to
McKenna uh in a really tight match he he uh had a couple good wins over like Ian Parker he beat Ian Parker um he looked really good took fifth and then Alex Marinelli made it to the finals and lost to Monday uh it was two to2 at the break
And then kind of got away from him there in the second period but Marinelli looked really tough too Arnold’s one nothing lead as we go to the third and brown ton will start down and then what is that that’s three and then Tony copi Tony copi uh lost his year of
Eligibility for for gambling and then he made the most of it and went down to Texas and and took fifth unfortunately him and uh Warner were at the same weight and they’re on the exact same trajectory they lost in the second round put them on the backside and then they
Both lost again to go to the fifth and sixth place match against each other so the winner got a stot at the Olympic trials and the other one Warner unfortunately did not so um well if one of them would have beat Schultz then they wouldn’t have had wrestleing show
Oh I know it’s brutal and wasn’t Warner up like 90 I don’t want to talk about it but yes he was yes he was and he was looking really good he was a taked down away a push out away from getting a tech and then things kind of just went ay for him
Unfortunately and I guess those guys have wrestled seven times and their series now is four three Schultz and I guess they grew up wrestling each other in Illinois so there’s a nice sweep by Gabe Arnold down to the ankle Bron trying to kick away looking stuff the

Good to have people like that and and be able as they say you know iron sharpens iron and be able to work out with each other like that and it’s good all around yeah and it’s good that you know the money from you know the art to plunge
And many other fundraisers goes towards the hwc so these guys don’t have to go out and get part-time jobs and they can kind concentrate on training fulltime because training for the world championships and Olympic championships that’s a full-time job if you’re going to do it right yes 100% that’s a really
Good point I mean that like Austin of Santos Spencer Lee it’s their only focus only job all the guys in our club is to to make a team and be represent America and accomplish their goals so and hwc is not going to make enough money on these
These um fundraisers to let these guys live on the on the fat hog but it’s going to pay their bills you know try and pay their bills and and so that they don’t have to go out and you know look for extra you know money and so forth or
Whatever these guys pick up some extra money on the size doing camps and Clinics and stuff or whatever you know but uh their main focus has to be on training and keeping their bodies healthy at that age is another big one so as you age through the sport
Wrestling you got to be really diligent about your recovery and taking it serious and nutrition goes along with that um another big ass big part of the hawkey wrestling club is our Inner Circle our donors that that decide you know what this is really really valuable uh this is important to the University
Of Iowa the team uh we’re going to give we’re going to support you every single month and it’s a recurring donation system where you know you can give 100 50 25 bucks a month uh forever you know you just keep giving because you’re passionate about what we’re all about
