I mainly specialise in long game coaching. I look to provide you with some breakdowns and areas to search for in your game.

I understand not one drill will help the same issue so I look to dive deeper into what you can mechanically look for.

I want to help you play better golf so I will be providing topics on all areas of your game such as how to help fix your slice, fix your hook, hit the ball further and striking the golf ball better.

From this position here we’re going to start working to the top and as I work to the top I’m really looking to reenter back into the middle so for purpose of the board as I’m here I’m going to start rocking the board back down to the left as my hands Hit hi everyone and welcome back to my channel in today’s video I’m going to show you my three favorite drills for better weight transference in the downswing it’s quite common that on the lesson t with see players start to hang back they’re not really sure how to get

Their weight forward or even where in the swing that you get it forward so in this video I’m going to cover all of those things for you and make things a little more clearer so let’s get into it so getting your weight forward is vital for more power and definitely better

Contact so if in the Down song we are able to get our body certainly lower half and handle a little bit more forward than it started we’re going to be able to generate a little bit more power because I’ve transferred my weight so momentum is taking me forward I’m

Likely to push out the ground better which will help me unload the club into more speed as well but certainly be able to get the shaft a little bit more forward than it started which is going to help me to create quite a bit of compression and a little bit of shaft

LAN leaning to better strikes so for me there are three drills that I use um more regularly for this so my first drill that I’m going to show you is this pressure shift board now this is a homemade one where I’ve just got a piece

Of wood and I’ve cut it down to my stance length or stance width should I say and then popped another little bit of wood through the center of it to make it like a seesaw and this is going to give me a really good idea of where my

Weight is and at what times in the swing so for me you can see here that this rocks back and forward okay now the importance here is actually when things start to rock back and forward because what we tend to see from a lot of our

Students is from this position here if I just leave it on the left side they would start to go to the top of their swing move their weight onto their right side hold it onto the right side keep holding on to the right side and then reenter really really late and when I

Say reentering I mean getting back to my original starting point quite late and what we’re actually looking for is for that to all happen a lot sooner so if I take you through when things happen now you’ll see that at a dress I’m going to have my weight marginally forward so I

Would say on average the weight is actually around 55 60% on the lead side as we start moving the club way the weight should move very marginally onto the right side so here you can see the Bold starting to tip down now that’s because firstly I’m turning secondly I’m

Putting my weight there and thirdly my arms and golf club weigh something so of course natural forces are going to suggest that there’s going to be more weight on the right side from this position here we’re going to start working to the top and as I work to the

Top I’m really looking to reenter back into the middle so for purpose of the board as I’m here I’m G to start rocking the board back down to the left as my hands hit the top of the Swing okay so as my hands reach my head I should have

Replanted that side of the board so in motion that would look something like this and it’s quite a fluent motion once I start to get it right and again if I can just replant that board I’m not saying throw and slide everything over to the left we’re

Just trying to gently replant the board and keep pushing forward so again from a weight distribution it will be let’s say 55 on the lead side to 60% here maybe 70% by here onto my right side but then as I work to the top the weight’s going to move back to

50% 60 70 80 perhaps 90 impact and then my head and chest release up like that so this is the very first drill so if I show you from the other angle I’m going to try now to hit one like it and it’s quite difficult and I do it quite slowly

If you’re going to hit BS this because it does want to slide around a little bit so again I’m just going to have my weight marginally on the left just to get that board planted shifting over marginally going to try and get that ball just gently moving back and I’ll

Push through into the Finish let’s see if I can do it so slow one to start moving over reentering okay so I really felt myself hit down into that golf ball quite a lot there so let’s see if I can pick up the pace a little bit and do it a little bit

Better this time so again ball position marginally forward of Center down back so there you go I hit that one a little harder and just saw The Bard move there so you got to be a little bit careful but if I take that board away now and

Try and hit one more for you what I’m going to try and do in this one is I’m going to try and replicate when that Bard was Landing not how hard I’m doing it but it’s when I do it so just feeling when I get to the top I can feel a

Little bit of pressure running through that left foot and a really nice strike there I really felt like I was into the back of the ball so my second drill here is the force pedal which you can buy online directly from their uh from their website and it is pretty much a silicon

Um half cut tennis ball is the easiest way to describe it and it has a kind of honeycomb shape inside as well which means when you press into it it kind of bounces back out which is really good for us because you can just use a half

Cut tennis ball at home for this just to get used to it but the problem with the tennis ball is as you press into it it kind of just folds in and uh it doesn’t give you any sort of bounce back which um is exactly what we need for this

Drill now you can just use a piece of foam you can actually fold a towel in half and just put something under your lead foot for this one but what we’re going to do with this one is we’re just going to pop that down there

And we’re going to put it under our lead ball of the Lead Foot now again the drill here is to try and press this at the right time so for us as we move back you now know that the weight’s going to move off it a little bit but certainly

When my hands get near the top we’re going to feel like we’re pressing into that pedal okay so we’re not trying to slide our hips really far forward in an effort to get our weight forward we’re not throwing our heads at it we are literally trying to change pressure

Change where and when we push into the foot so from here I’m going to work to the top and again when my hands hit the top of my swing I press and I push off the pedal from there okay so again from this angle if I hit a couple for you

Nice and slowly have the pedal under my left foot feel I’m going to press it when I get to my hands at the top see if we can hit one for you again I hit that really well there now again for me that felt quite powerful

That felt like a lot more vertical Force which is when you’re pushing up through the ground I felt that when I pushed into that I actually pushed back out of the shot I felt quite a lot of clearance in that one I felt my chest was turning more through the

Ball so one more for you again as I work to the top of my swing just feeling when I’m pressing not how much more when my hands hit the top of the swing now again I would say I definitely made a much better contact there because I

Was able to push back out the ground now my third and final drill is probably one of the most common ones that you’ll find which is the step drill which again is pretty difficult to perform and time it all correctly but again it’s all around when we step when we press forward so

The step drill is quite simple you take your original stance and and you’re going to take your left foot and you’re going to move it across to your right foot from here as you work to the top you’re going to replant your left foot as your hands hit the top of the Swing

Again what we would see or how we would see this be performed incorrectly is a player would move their foot over they would swing to the top and then they would start stepping into the down swing which for me is a little bit too late by

The time you get your weight across so if we are trying to a little exaggerated and we are trying to plant our weight and pressure at the right time for me again it would look a little bit like this you’d move your left foot across as

My hands get to about here I’m then going to start to replant as my hands hit the top continually push and then push up through impact so let’s have a got at this one I would say this one’s a little bit more difficult just purely because there’s a lot of timing that

Goes into this one but probably one of the most effective again so Fe you here put this foot here as I get to the top I’m going to plant and then I’m going to hit now that one was interesting because I felt like I had all the Time in the

World to swing through my weight was already there and I could just let the club go after that so that was quite a nice one as well so one more time I’m going to set myself up left foot across as I get to the top old plant

And again that was a really good one that felt super powerful because this time momentum was really being pushed forward so I hope you found that helpful into how to transfer the weight a little better some drills to do it but more importantly when you should be transferring your weight that’s always a

Common question like how should I start my down swing and actually we’re starting it a little bit sooner than you’d think we’re actually starting the swing or the down swing from as my hands get to the top I’m starting to shift and then rotate through the ball so

Again just to recap 55% weight here on my left side or lead side it’s okay for there to be a little nudge off but we’re looking for everything to move back into the middle by the time your hands get to the top shift across turn push up and hold the

Finish so I hope that really helped and I’ll see you all soon
