During the Broncos game, Denver seemed to have two players called as eligible many times. Only one of the two lined up to actually be eligible.
Dan told the refs pregame that two would walk up to the ref and Decker would be the only one to report. This is exactly what happened. Yeah, fire Allen but that doesn't solve the problem. There are many, like me, that thinks this wasn't a mistake. That is totally obvious.

That's exactly what happened, the Detroit Lions coaching staff attempted to Shadow and confuse the Dallas Cowboys by sending three offensive lineman in the general area of the official in the attempts to, shall we say, camouflage their trick play. Whatever coach suggested the other two players to roam the range by the official at this time should be docked a day's pay or horse whipped whichever the Detroit Lions fans prefer. We cannot blame the official if he did not in all good conscience hear the player check in as an eligible receiver and it doesn't matter if the head coach informs the officiating crew with the trick play prior to the game. The rule is the rule, and you have to check in and announce yourself as eligible receiver when it requires you to do so.
The best way to avoid this is simply having the one offensive lineman announced he is an ineligible number lining up in an eligible receiver position and utilizing the CAC method of communication convey, acknowledge, and confirm
The player conveys his intention and should have waited for the acknowledgment by the referee, and obviously, he did not receive it and at that time should have repeated that he was checking in as an eligible receiver.

Unless anyone can say they were privy to the actual conversation, how can they say that #68 ACTUALLY reported? The Lions apparently only succeeded in confusing the ref by sending 3 lineman to the ref. Perhaps if #68 had reported correctly (and made sure the ref knew it), and the Cowboys were informed of it as they should have been, he would not have been so wide open. If he had report correctly he would have not been left uncovered which he was. Tells me it was a Lions screw up by not making sure the ref was clear as to who was eligible. Regardless, Dan Campbell screwed up TWICE by not kicking the XP to go into overtime. Also, everyone seems to be negating the remaining 23 seconds and declaring the Lions were robbed of the win. Seems like Lions fans seem to be happy denying the Cowboys those 23 seconds and declaring the game over after the 2 point conversion. Who's to say that in those remaining 23 seconds the Cowboys would not have gotten 30-35 yards so that their kicker, who happens to be the longest and most accurate kicker in the league, could attempt a field goal? I am not surprised at all. This is how it goes for the lions. So many examples over the years. It’s like we have to be twice as good as our opponent any given Sunday to even have a fighting chance. If we ever get in positions where it comes down to a single game winning play…..there’s a great chance we will lose…right after we win. The positive in this situation is that this game is going to fuel our fire. When 70 was announced as eligible.. why didn’t Detroit and Campbell stop the play and say no 68 is eligible. Detroit obviously confused the ref sending 3 linemen over to check in.

No one has brought up the fact that a few years back Lions/cowboys playoff game the Detroit WR had his shirt pulled and the Cowboy defender barreled into him not looking at the ball and a PI was called.
