If your ball goes to the right of where you want then this video is for you and we find that no matter the skill level every category or skill level of golfer is challenged to some extent with the ball going to the right we also find that the average amateure we’ll call it

Handicaps of 12 and above we’ll battle with a ball that’s slicing off to the right for a different reason than an advanced golfer so in this video we’re going to give you some solutions if you’re 12 or above and some solutions or a solution if you’re a 12 below yeah I

Think that as coaches we’ve been coaching long enough we’ve seen enough balls go to the right that over time we start to generate kind of this Playbook of all right here are some plays that I know if I can acue that if I can give

This person I know that face is going to be more closed right right and some of those plays in our experience have a higher success rate than other ones do so let’s go through maybe some of the more successful plays that we’ve called definitely but before we get there I

Think it’s important for those that don’t already understand why their ball is going to the right to have that Baseline understanding of okay I’m standing up to it and I don’t want my ball to curve off to right field or a crop dusting slice into the right trees

But here’s why that happens yeah so on the most to make a very general basic level 10,000 foot this is exactly there are certainly other considerations but the fundamental truth is that that face is pointed to the right at impact of where you want it to go so the

Instructions that that club is giving to that ball with that open faces it’s going do probably curve further right than what you prefer cor correct now there’s path considerations to make but we want to keep this as simple as we can I want to make sure that that face gets

Left somehow all boils down to Club face okay so let’s start with the higher handicap player so the first place that I’m going to go is I’m going to look at Statics I’m going to look at before they swing is there anything that I can change about setup that will allow for

That club to close a little easier and usually the first place that I look at for this type of player is the left- hand grip MH now sure I would want to make it stronger or weaker right but more than anything I want to position where it is in the fingers I

Would love for the grip to fall a little further in these fingers than into the Palm so our checkpoint is this heel pad right here where you can even see a little bit of the wear on Cam’s glove is going to fall right on top of that so

That gets the grip in the fingers and for a couple reasons one it gives us a little bit more range of motion with our wrist to where we can we’ll get into our second point of what we want to do there mhm the way like to feel that sometimes

It’s just to hold an Implement that’s smaller and holding an Implement that’s smaller whether it’s a pen or in this case an alignment Rod feels far more comfortable holding it down in the tips of my fingers in this kind of first knuckle intersection than it does

Holding it up in the Palm it feels like I can’t do as much to it which I need to do to it to close that face in the Palm as I can in the fingers there’s that really good image of if you were going to pick up a Suitcase by the hand

Something like that to get into your fingers which I love that image pick it up that way yeah exactly so that’s our first one if if that grip is more in the fingers I know that it’s going to be easier to close that face okay moving on first check second let’s move on

Dynamics in swing okay I’m looking for some kind of a handle twist now when that happens is depending on the player y but here’s what I’m looking for I’m looking for this club to just rotate about itself so we’re just rotating the shaft this is like a screwdriver right

We’re not bending it this way or that way all we’re doing is in space is we are turning that shaft about itself right there so that creates some left wrist Bo right or some some Flex in that left wrist normally the cue that I’ll give players is to feel like that tiess

Logo on the grip starts to point down towards the ground a little bit earlier and you can see that that face starts to point down towards the ground and and another kind of point of clarification there it depends when you should feel this depends on usually the quality of

Player that you are your handicap right certainly yeah yeah so for a higher handicapper we probably need to get that in a lot earlier uh maybe even a back swing queue that’s that was my point of clarification is this down swing or a back swing I would say it depends yeah

Right so let’s let’s go through the version of that for a back swing so go set up and give me give me like left arm parallel in the back swing got fingers gripping the fingers and I’ve got left arm parallel yeah so that I’m going to

Give you that same glove queue M so that logo on the tiess on your glove I’m going to want you to turn that towards that down line camera right there turning back towards that camera and back to our first point the only way that you can do that is with that grip

More in your fingers right so that’s why we started with a with the static position first um a training aid that we’ll use a lot we use our total go trainer this can give us feedback because without a coach there it’s kind of hard to know if you’re doing this

Correctly right so once halfway back he’s starting with that little red ball right in the middle of his forearms and then as he goes back I’m going to want it to get on the other side of his forearm that requires a ton of this left wrist Bo right here you can see that

Tiess grip start to show up on the camera yeah I’m taking it from my wrist cup I can actually feel the wrist cup there and now I feel almost almost like a Boeing but I’m feeling it actually thre my right hand for the viewers out

There is that okay if they cue in a way for sure now I I do have a cautionary point the one way that I wouldn’t want them to feel this handle twist and what I think you’ll agree we see a lot of is we start to see a lot of maybe right arm

The arms extending or losing these angles to do this and it’s really important to not we’re just isolating the movement of this wrist we’re just twisting that handle again like a screwdriver instead of adding any other motion to it cool okay what about down swing well go better same sens oh sorry

Same Sensations for the average amateur out there 12 and above yeah I think when I when I’m trying to give somebody this Q Cameron I’m trying to determine one I know that this closes the face there’s no doubt that it does I’m trying to help them figure out when do they start to

Feel it mm what magnitude do they feel do they feel like they’re doing a lot or a little and then kind of how long do they feel that what’s the duration of that feel right so that would involve hitting some shots actually experimenting around with it 100% trial

And error here yeah and feedback that we’re looking for when we’re doing this is what I want the ball curving left of left like I I don’t care if you’re over curving these I want you to start to see if you’re a player that has that ball

Curving right I want you to start to see even if it’s a pull hook I’m fine with that I just want to see that face I want to see evidence that that face is closed and we got a nice tight draw right there so whatever you felt like that yeah just

Do that I felt it back swing and yeah okay yeah so now we know what you need to feel all right let’s talk better players beautiful now this is a really careful cautionary point we would not really give this to a higher handicap because I I would say that in my

Experience I would see that whenever we in down swing create a lot of lag right so better player error right ton of this angle between the lead arm and this shaft right here that’s usually accompanied by some of the opposite movement in that wrist right we get this

Extension in the wrist right here the face can tend to open up a little bit and then there’s some sequencing things to that too because now I’ve created all this angle eventually I’m going to have to let it out and if I’m late letting out that angle I start to deliver some

Shaing and I’ve got the face pointed too far right not very common for a a higher handicapper but certainly an issue that I see a lot of anytime a good player says I’m missing him to the right it’s one of the first things that I would

Look out yeah what’s the play that you call in so I’m going to use this Total golf trainer right here to help you out with this I straighten it out from where it was before when we were working on the twist go and take it to the top of

Your swing yep so now that you’re in that top of the Swing position I want you to feel like you’re going to let out some of these angles and as you let out that angle you see that that red ball starts to get more in line with your

Forearm again this is like the death move for a high handicapper I don’t want them feeling like they’re throwing and casting from here but for a better player that’s creating all that face opening and lag and angle and narrowness this is a beautiful thing to kind of widen out that structure between the

Left arm and the club I feel like the ball is going back and trying to get between my arms yeah perfect versus moving away from my lead arm yeah and again we just want that kind of feedback in your practice because this is this happens very

Quickly right okay I’m going to give it a shot okay give it a go feels like it’s going to make the ball go higher as well for sure we’re going to add a little bit of Loft here as well no doubt very nice draw a little low on the club

Face so I didn’t get the Loft I anticipated but I certainly felt that Arc width get really re wide really early yeah so no matter what kind of player that we have what kind of handicap or ability level we’ve got all sorts of different ways that plays that

We can call that will close the face so if you see the ball curving right the most simple basic fundamental thing that you need to do is figure out a way to close the face and you can use one of those solutions to get the ball curbing left oh

  1. Can I follow this as a left handed golfer? My slice being off to the left but everything is mirrored right?
