The season but this is an important one for both teams this is where we see did the non-conference schedule get you prepared for conference play obviously both teams want to walk out with a W but it’s going to be a defensive battle whose offense can overcome their defense

Let’s take a look at our players to watch in this one we start with Satan Hall and one of their standout upper classman is Anna Baines she’s fantastic she’s a three time Big East weekly honor roll member she’s doubled her scoring She’s So Physical it all comes back to

Her working out every single day let’s jump over to the Hoya the engine for their machine is Kelsey Ransom Kelsey Ransom Big East honorable mention last year you’re clearly trying to improve upon that this year and when you talk about her points those have increased she’s crashing the boards at a better

Clip her field goal percentage is also up this year but for them to be successful today she’s going to have to distribute the basketball and get her teammates involved coming up from our nation’s capital it’s the Pirates and the Hoya as they both tip off Big East play on the Big East digital

Network Saturday night the biggest game is on Fox Prime Time Hoops it’s a battle in the Big East as St John takes on Fifth ranked Yukon what a j Tristan Newton leads the reigning National Champion Huskies as they fight for the top spot in the country there it

In this one we start with Satan Hall and the Pirates of course LED as we talked about by aan Baines but a couple other players of note in that starting lineup as well and of course Amari that includes Amari Wright She’s a kid who’s been in the

Program for a number of years and you don’t see that much anymore Jeremy but playing behind some fantastic guards she’s really come into her own and taking advantage of the opportunity as for the Hoya kind of one of the rocks of their program graceanne Bennett another player who’s been in the

Program we just don’t see that we’ll talk a lot about the transfers for both programs here here but graceanne Bennett another player who spent her entire career here at Georgetown and we are underway in DC Hoy is in the White seatan Hall in the royal blue glad to have you along for some

Morning Hoops but down your coffee watch some [Applause] basketball Bennett hits it out to Rivera on the 15 on the shot [Applause] clock Claude pulls up at the foul line off the mark and rebound chased down by rright we were talking with head coach Tony Benzel for Sean Halland he said rebounding was going to be key well honestly both coaches said rebounding was going to be key so getting those

Second opportunities might be hard to come by thrown away but chased down by Davis still 10 on the shot clock and stolen away by Ransom but a jump ball will be forced and it will stay with Sean Hall I think that play right there we’re seeing Ransom play post

Defense I mean she does a lot for this team but that’s not usually part of her game and on aab ban Shan clock resets to 20 gray now gets it back SE Hall team coming off one of the bigger wins at least nonconference wise in recent program history as they

Dominated A ranked UNLV team and that was at home so they’re hoping to bring that momentum and bring that confidence on the road again there’s Rivera Bo his best outside threat Claude spins in the lane and gets it to go nice little post move finish over the

Rim Middle with that left hand so smooth Claude a player kind of got way back into the starting lineup and just has all kinds of talent transfer from both Duke and Morehead State was Player of the Year at Morehead as that’s thrown out of [Applause] bounds that last bucket

Here using the dribble using that Defender as the access quick spin darell Haney told us Mar just talking about how athletic she is kind of play the defense she can open up a whole lot of things for them Claude will take the shot but an offensive foul caught on the

Hoyes here’s Darnell Haney head coach of the Hoya on an interim basis course formerly at Jacksonville as a head coach brought in by the late Tasha buts as she came in tragically passed away earlier this year but coach Haney has come in and really done a great job with his

Team and how fortunate to have somebody on the staff already that has sat in that head coaching seat understands that demand and that Rhythm right kicks it over gray now Baines on the drive loses control taken away by Bennett Allen dribbling through she of course the sister of Anthony Cen former Maryland standout point guard is having to work for their shots as Rivera puts it up and hits for three that was really patient half court offense for Georgetown turning down a couple good shots waiting for a great

One it’s always seemingly tough with college kids right they don’t have the patience is that what you’re saying everyone’s looking to score all the time I know there’s been a few of those when your coaching days that no that’s not what we want Baines getting what she

Wants Off the Mark and rebound by Bennett here in transition this is where coach Haney wanted a little Improvement how can they score better and be more effective in their transition and clearly their miscommunication on that possession Rivera that’s what he talks he’s very big on roles Martin and said

He she’s our outside [Applause] shooter five nothing Le for the hoers almost knocked Away by C greay gets open and that’s off the mark and over the backboard so seat all ice cold to start there’s Tony bazella head coach Sean Hall 11th season almost 30

Years in over 30 years as a head coach overall that’s a lot of coaching we talked with him and specifically asked him about his 500th career win and he was so appreciative of all of his players and staff that have been a part of that really nice to hear

Him speak about his career dely Ransom there 42 just the start that Georgetown wanted knocked away and Ransom on the ground gets it to Cowan up ahead here goes Claude takes it in on Baines and that is going to be an offensive foul it will be look close to the semicircle Mar it

Looked close but it also I mean there’s this is a contact sport it is it that big of a deal I’m not sure like baines’s foot was definitely on that didn’t matter so seven nothing lead for the Hoya Baines turnaround jumper that’s Off the Mark another rebound by Bennett C

Hall’s done a nice job of making Baines work for every shot and make it difficult for her she hasn’t got her Rhythm yet Ransom in the Rhythm on three and she hits it this is the start that Georgetown needed when they can get themselves ahead and now rely on their

Defense offense is always questionable Ransom has improved her three-point shooting this season but not really her game but she was feeling it and gives a 10 point lead to Georgetown hooking the lane off the mark and a foul on Ransom as Davis will get set to the line after this

Timeout great great start for Georgetown as the Hoya with a 10 nothing lead here in DC Satan Hall going to try to regroup brce element element support for do George 10 off to a great start leading 10 nothing on Sean Hall Martin and really the lid has been on the bucket

For Sean Hall but the Hoya have done everything right so far they’ve made it very difficult for Baines to score and certainly she’s their go-to player for the Pirates and getting her involved no doubt that was talked about in that timeout Z Baines again the transfer from

Both virgin Tech and Duke as we see and see more and more now in the college game folks going to be having one or two former teams as we come into games that’s the evolution of college basketball and Jeremy un I were talking some people understand that and embrace

It and others it’s a little more challenging to see somebody play on your team against you and maybe then on a third team Off the Mark by Davis Davis one of the many impact transfers for this pirate team out of Northern Illinois time action in the back for her

Capital for the blue and gray Off the Mark by Cowen beny keeps it alive she’ll kick it out Scott will take a three that’s Off the Mark Bennett has it blocked and they’ll call a jump ball which stays with the ho four offensive rebounds in that possession that cannot

Make the seat in Hall staff very happy as that is one of the keys that they felt they need to win the rebounding battle if they’re going to win the basketball game honestly Marin this is kind of the opposite of what happened for Sean Hall against UNLV yes in that UNLV game they

Scored 15 of the first 17 points of the basketball game and now they’re in Jeopardy being on the other side of that another rebound by Bennett she’s come out like a house of fire in this one already with six rebounds in the contest Ransom kicks it back

Out and Bennett Off the Mark again there’s Scott she’s bumped puts it up no good Ransom gets the rebound back into Bennett now Scott dribbles in off class and good wow Jeremy that must have been a minute worth of offense for Georgetown and that’s so difficult and deflating as the defensive team

There that just cannot get the rebound tell you what you’re an old Penn Stater that’s a football drive about s minutes just no break just running the ball at you SE trying to get something going that’s Off the Mark B on the rebound of the right

Miss know she would love to win this game started her career at Penn State but then spent the majority of it at Sean Hall a key player for this pyate program bmy down the lane bumped again and this time the foul will be called this slot Drive is really set

Up this slot drive here is really set up with that nice crossover splitting the defense has the control to still get a nice shot up talk to coach bazella he said you know I like it here just we grad transfer and she had we didn’t have her

Major and that’s another thing that kind of goes into into this and and honestly M and I do a lot of Georgetown Sports and some of their other programs have benefited by that such a good school that a lot of folks say you know what if

I’m going to do a grad transfer year I might as well get it where I can get a really good degree there’s a lot that goes into transferring and I think a lot of it is talked about in a negative connotation that oh we’re trying to get

Away from this program I don’t want to work hard you know there’s something wrong when really you’re pointing out an opportunity to get an advanced degree in a specialty or or at a very prestigious institution I mean these kids are very smart to take advantage of that yeah the

Men’s basketball and baseball programs at Georgetown have really benefited from that see a lot of Ivy Leaguers folks from closes like Stanford say give it a shot over here right now the Hoya giving their best shot leading this one 14 to nothing as we’re coming

Up on two minutes to go in the opening quarter shot up that’s Off the Mark rebounded by Davis she’ll put it up and finally SE in Hall on the board off of an offensive rebound no [Applause] Less 12-point lead for the Hoya Hoya closed out there last game with a huge run they had scored 29 straight points against their opponents with no score that’s never going to see that very often as Scott misses the bunny gets a chance at number two and she’ll be fouled

Persistence pays off there for Briana Scott but let’s talk about how she went back door R the defense felt the defense quick little footwork there spin kept the basketball high oh but persistence for that offensive rebound Briana Scott her mother from a Maryland standout Christy winter Scott

Maybe known just as much now as being a heck of a broadcaster she’s in the building I saw her walk she behind us I think might behind us that’s her normal spot knocks it [Applause] down it’s got to be nice for Christy winter Scott to come and be able to call

Games but also just be a mom at times it’s it’s a tough Balancing Act no doubt she coached Bri in high school rebounding Advantage for the Hoya 12 to three and seven of those 12 rebounds for georget have been offensive that’s the difference in the basketball game right

Now here comes beny again off the ransom off Flash no good but another foul call on the Pirates and it was Hagen on that drive and again it’s funny minen with so many new faces at se Hall Maya B didn’t play with everyone she did play with Hain probably had to feel pretty

Good look at this transition nice pass B’s able to read the defense and rans some aggressive I’d like to see her be able to finish that and make this a three-point opportunity say that foul charg the catalon so she’s listed with two thought it might have been on Baines

But she was in the area Ron taking advantage and again the Hoya lead grows Kelsea checks out and it’s interesting Mar coach Haney told us that sometimes Ransom gets off to slow starts I have to almost take her out of the game just get her mind reset she’s got

Six points already today he didn’t worry about this time that was not the case today he took her out to give her a quick blow maybe use the timeout between quarters as an extended break so coach Haney’s got to be pleased with how his star started off the mark But chase

Down Baines trying to go to work against B that’s Off the Mark Scot for the board B’s length affected Baines on that up and under for sure down to Scott and she’s a three-point threat despite her size really a streaky three-point shooter in some respects Cowan pulls up at the foul line

Off the back rim no good another offensive rebound by the hoyya and myrix has it taken away and then she’ll be called for the foul [Applause] and Davis is down as it looked like he got rolled up on that’s not a good sign pirat holding that left knee honestly Marin I’m always surprised

This doesn’t happen more almost the football injury where someone kind of falls into your leg when you’re plant it aggressive offensive Rebound yeah Davis trying to work under knee right now it has not been one to right home about for the Pirates so far down 18 two and he dealt with two injury issues though catalon came back into the game Baines can’t get it to go and Scott

Kept it alive Bennett coralled you see a little frustrations from Baines there as a very good shot fake two-footed you know even [Applause] shot down to Bennett kicks it out to OT he’ll take the three and she hits it at the buzzer every everything going the Hoya’s way up

21-2 talk about perfect execution on that right at the right time inside out for the knockdown asmin not hasn’t been the best three-point shooter in her time at Georgetown but boy dides she look good on that one Hoya looking great up 21-2 this is the Sean Hall Story one

Coming off a r screen Inside Out Jasmine yacht hitting that three I mean it couldn’t be any better for for Georgetown right now and our great crew passing along this Georgetown finished their Wake Forest game on a 150 run 21-2 they’ve outscored their opponents 36-2 basically in the last say 15 minutes of

Basketball they’ve played can’t get much better than that and if that doesn’t talk about your defense I mean hands down yes you’ve got to be able to score but you are stopping people at a high clip into the game The Freshman mea ham she picks up the foul

Look at that intensity from coach hany Baines has her shot blocked by Scott Bain’s made that more difficult I think she had a little Lefty right over the middle of the rim there she came back into the defense this is really kind of gone very bad for SE Hall coach bazelle was hoping

To maybe wear down Georgetown starters that been able to get some reserves in the game maybe keep them a little fresher than they normally would and Ransom called for bar just the fifth turnover but that’s one of those unnecessary veteran lead guard that was Careless Pates trying to find something offensively great hoist up a three that’s off the mark and a foul that’s going to go on Sean Hall again just nothing going right for the Pirates right now as be foul again on the Pirates I know this is a home game for

Georgetown and so SE Hall is stay in the hotel they’ve you know think they’re a little bit out of their out of their element but Georgetown really looks more composed and more confident right now Sean Hall looks very disjointed is that because of the game time is that because

Of Sean Hall I’m sorry georgetown’s defensive intensity probably a little bit of both but you’re really seeing a much more confident Georgetown team with Brianna Scott showing us the inside game she’s got a well established outside game as well I think coach bzel in our calls was a bit worried about what the

Ho could do inside if they’re up to their normal standards and they’re finally SE in Hall getting back on the board and white with the bucket it’s funny how offense gives you a little pop in your stuff everyone just ran back a little bit harder on defense for seen Hall in that

Possession right now kind of like they did against wake a bit and that will be a turnover good play by white she’s been a spark early Baines to get herself to the foul line and now Pirates finally have some rhythm going the pace picked up right it comes from a steal they’re

Able to get out not have to play against Georgetown set half Court defense and again bucket by a white and then sets up this one for Baines Baines of course an extremely interesting story she transferred in after two previous stops and really got injured and wasn’t doing so well coach

Of got her game turning around and Jose rinas the assistant kind of almost his pet project and they’ve really developed a close Bond because of that it was a great story that he shared with us equal part Sean Hall staff equal part Baines putting in the work Steel by right and Sean Hall

They come down right before this timeout get the ball to the middle of the floor the defense collaps nice little dump down pass as we’re talking about out who’s going to get into their Rhythm right now it’s Sean Hall earlier it was Georgetown timeout is called to break that

Run no Haney taking it Tony bazella did not take a timeout he waited for the media timeout got it as Georgetown is really on fire in that first quarter they have not scored a bucket in over two minutes and and that Trend will continue though actually it will keep it

His defense was going to immediately create offense Ransom trying to create some offense of her own cow open three that’s off the mark and nice play to keep it alive tie up it will go with SE Hall but gray able to get it over to Lopes Jeremy both coaches yesterday talked to us about physicality and it looks different a little bit different but quite similar there are multiple jump ball situations many people in the paint we’ve seen multiple scrums on the ground these two teams are playing really really hard which speaks to the

Physicality and also the importance of defense both these teams hard-nosed attitudes that was some the basis the Tasha tough mentality for the hoyya he’s playing that good defense saterfield kicks it out Lopes will take a three that’s Off the Mark how [Applause] theard B calls for it and gets through and

Scores great Advanced pass and then B with the quick quick riing go Baseline she called for it knew exactly what she was going to Do kick out to Baines and thrown away and that sink that seen Hall got into and gotten out of it just as quickly Bard with six points Mar in transition and that was again something that coach Haney talked to us about he wanted to be more efficient in transition

Offense back back out for Georgetown lansom kicks it out B passes it in Bennett double team he get it out to Claud had to heave it up and Bain Bo Bennett would have been better serve just going right up without the dribble open three that’s Off the Mark batted

Around beny will be tied up but Hoya ball off the missed by GR b as we talked about actually a few players on this team as we take a look at the quick replay as B playing The Inspired ball already six points five rebounds against her former team but B not only has

Players that she played with at Sean Hall she also has players she played with previous stops and uh again as we talked about the transfers it’s kind of just making everybody know everybody right now and HS and Scott tries to chase it down can’t get there well you

Make a good point with B coming from Sean Hall but with Satan’s Hall’s influx of transfers how many were actually teammates and you know we talked about that a little bit as well just the the fluidity of players in college basketball now shayen Hagen’s actually

The player that b play with both at Penn State and at Sean Hall and I don’t think we’ll ever see that but it’s very possible we can see teams players playing together three different schools Baines will take a three that one round and out no good and Chase down

Catleon and it will be off for hands Geor down [Applause] ball and we talked about before this kind of tying together former teammates number four Jada Claude and number 11 zanana Baines when they were at Duke of course they would go on to different schools

And then come back to the Big East at different teams Ransom throws it up no good gets her own rebound and she’ll be [Applause] fouled and of course assistant coach Kelly missanti your former college teammate at Penn State she is yes Penn State’s all-time leading scorer with

Over 2900 points she shot a lot of Threes I said a lot of screens worked really well this is why you’re good because I if you didn’t say that I was going to but you went ahead and did it and shout out to Mama MZ I know she’s

Recovering from a hip replacement and watching today I did enjoy setting screens for your daughter dend the shot clock Cowen Harry gets it off to Ransom and checks the clock she’ll go to work and has it stripped again defense all day by right but ransom’s right back there

Defense and of talking to coach Bella you could tell they were focused on Ransom as you would be Miss though by [Applause] Baines off the screen it’s it to B she’s been a catalyst in this one so far Scott takes the shot and knocks it down nice reverse pivot kept the basketball High

Never thought twice team effort so far by Georgetown Ransom is second leading score behind Scott a lot of contribution Baines takes the three that one goes and she says finally it’s something to go here for that shot Baines one of nine from four and she’s such an important

Part of this SE Hall on the team on the offensive end that that’s got to release a little bit of pressure for everybody when they know that their goto finally made a basket and offensive foul as catalon gets banged down and foul on Claude her second we’re going to see catalon here

Work around this screen young players if you die in that screen that’s not going to get CAU but she works to get underneath which causes the whistle to be blown good bazella called it in our call Mar and he said she’s going to pick up one or two illegal screens get it

Right there coaches know their players right they know exactly who they are and what they’re capable of doing SE Hall looking for a little mini run here as they walk on Harvey Carr Shuffle the foot car the transfer from Manhattan also spent RH Island I feel like I need to give you

Extra time after you say everybody’s name there’s there’s a a little paragraph about where they spent time and we mean that in all in in all the good ways right players are finding situations that work for them where they can really shine all credit not only

Coach Bella but he gave credit to Amari Wright about how this team has come together despite so many new faces really nine in total Ransom kicks it out Bennett short jumper [Applause] Good C Ransom draws so much attention that it leaves a player like grayan Bennett wide open on in the paint or a foot off for that little jumper under 30 to go about a seven second difference shot to game clock Haggins Davis turn around that will all

Over the rim now that’s the role she didn’t get early in the first quarter same post moves different result Ransom kicks it out open look for three for Scott and rattles out almost knocked it down but the Hoya is still happy as they head to the locker room leading 31-

Georgetown on Wednesday um I’m really excited for the hoes and their opportunity this is a team that’s coming to conference play also feeling really good they just got a double digit win over Wake Forest um on Sunday um and defense has been the name of their game

Um I think just first right now in the league in terms of the points allowed defensively they’re only allowing 46 points per game so like if they only have to score 50 they’re still winning by a margin of Four Points um so their defense is awesome uh and then also

Field goal percentage their opponents are shooting 32% um so I think in terms of seen Hall going into this game you just have to get good shot selection uh if you don’t they you’re G to force you to shoot bad shots they’re going to rebound Kelsey Ransom is going to do Kelsey Ransom

Things um she’s so fun watching play like I just so much enjoy like the pizzazz that she plays with um real hardcore and then always just great teammate you can always see her at any point when she doesn’t have to be talking to someone she’s finding someone

To talk to and give information to um but I think this is a really good really good match up for both teams to test where they are right now starting Conference playoff it’s it’s not an easy task at all on either side score update real quick for us

Undefeated in their league um but this is really this is really all about Aaliyah going home um I saw a nice article nice connections between former Yukon player Kia nurse who’s also from Canada we’re expecting her to be at the game we’re hoping to speak with her on

The broadcast but I just I think it’s going to be such a fun week right before the holidays this is personally my first time in Canada so I don’t really know what to expect I don’t know if you ladies have been there if you have any

I think it’s like a 10,000 seat Arena and we know that Canada in the city of Toronto specifically is really into women’s basketball they had the first ever WNBA game there this preseason they sold out Scotia Bank Arena with I don’t know 15 to 17,000 fans so you’re right

It’s just it it’s expanding the global reach of the game Canada is a country Toronto is a city that’s really excited about women’s basketball so I’m I’m excited for the atmosphere I will report back on all the amazing things that are hopefully gonna happen I can’t wait maybe ask maybe we

To teams in your conference or at least play different tactics that you could see later on in the season and whether that’s setups or Personnel types individuals like that so it’s a little tricky now for Marquette to go from one big Big E game against kraton and then

To have to play two more and then get a little time off before they go play Yukon right they have a really tough Big East start they played kraton which they got the dub then they go to Yukon then they go to St John’s they host Xavier

And then they go to Sean Hall like guys that is a tough run of games for Marquette coming up um the biggest one though of course Yukon that’s happening on New Year’s Eve Sunday December 31st um that’s a little bit farther away but this pod drops on Wednesday so you’ll

Baines will give Sean Hall the lead back that’s at least three of those five pick sixes that coach bazella told her told us were keys to the game interesting Georgetown lot of reserves out there to start the quarter some of their starters on the bench no real foul trouble for the
