ALL TIME GREAT AND FORMER LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION JACK O’BRIEN IS THE FEATURE OF MY LATEST VIDEO
Well hello and welcome um to my latest um career video of my new super huge series and this video we are featuring our first light heavyweight fighter mainly light heavyweight he also fought on middleweight and heavyweight um but it is the all-time great Philadelphia Jack O’Brien so like other videos in
This series now okay we shall start by going to his main opponents throughout his career now Philadelphia Jack o’ Bren of course for Bobby dobs okay former colored lightweight champion and very good fighter who defeated Joe G himself um Jack O’Brien went one win one loss
And one draw and he also fought okay the terrifying Baltimore demon young Peter Jackson um and scoring three wins from four with three wins one loss no draw so heavy winning record against the Baltimore demon there who was um a very tough fight a good puncher um durable
And a real handful now Jack Brian of course fought the mighty Sam Langford himself my pound pound number one fighter of all time he’s no win one loss and no draw and he also fought former colard middleweight champion who you’ll see a video on for the first time on my
Channel upcoming um and he was one win no loss no draw against Frank Craig he also fought the Barbados demon the great Joe Walcott himself going one win no loss and one draw and he also fought former heavyweight champion okay Marvin Hart um two times um also going one win
One loss and no draw and another name okay um kind of a predecessor to lford in a way in that Sam Langford won the C colored middleweight and heavyweight titles in the 1900s but there was a fighter who uh set that record in the 1890s and that is George bers who was
The first fighter to win both cud middleweight and heavyweight titles lford emulated that in the 1900s but Jack o’ban went one win no loss no draw against George Bas he also fought Tommy Ryan going no win one loss and no draw the great welterweight and middleweight King and he also Philadelphia Jack
O’Brien fought the great three-weight champion and puncher Bob Fitz Simmons okay going one win one loss and no draw so already already there there’s major names there you know you’ve got Bobby dobs Peter Jackson Langford Craig Walcott har buers Ryan Fitz Simmons I mean already there he’s kind of he’s
Kind of matched what a modern fighter would have done in terms of big big names but Jack O’Brien is nowhere near finished okay he also fights former colored middleweight champion Joe Butler um going one win no loss and no draw and he splits a Trilogy okay with former heavyweight champion Tommy Burns going
One win one loss and one draw he also fights former Welterweight Champion dixid going one win no loss and no draw of course Langford would also beat dixid twice later um for the colored heavyweight title and Philadelphia Jack O’Brien twice tried and twice failed um to defeat the great middleweight
Champion Stanley ketchel who was the first middleweight champion to ever regain the world middleweight title Jack o’ bran went no win two loss and no draw he also fought Andrew okay to the galston giant himself Jack Johnson um going no win no loss and one draw and to
Close out this first slide I’ll say unlike Jeff Jack O’Brien doesn’t f on one slide he fought um the great light heavyweight and heavyweight Joe trinsky Hall of Famer um going two win no loss and no draw so already there Jack O’Brien has included major major names
On there many alltime greats um like Langford and Barbados walcot and Bob Fitz Simmons and Tommy Burns and Stanley ketchel and Jack Johnson already there there is a resume a massive resume but uh we are not quite finished on Jack O’Brien yet so let us bring up his next
Slide of opponents and it’s another virtual full slide with more great names on there the first name of course The Real McCoy um the excellent and danger Charles kid McCoy who was no win no loss and one draw um against Jack O’Brien and Jack O’Brien also beat great defensive
Fighter and former trainer of the brown bomber Joe Le Jack Blackburn um another great rival of Sam lford Jack O’Brien went one win no loss and no draw and he also went one win no loss no draw um against excellent Contender Tommy West now another name who people may not be
As familiar with but you’ll get more familiar with him when his career video comes is former pound-for-pound rated fighter in my RS Charlie mcka now Jacko O’Brien went a massive five win no loss and no draw against Charlie mcka um and Charlie mcka was an excellent fighter
From the 1890s into the 1900s um as you will see he had a very tough rese himself um Jack O’Brien also beat Irish puncher Peter Mah going two win no loss and no draw and he also scored seven wins out of seven in a fantastic winning series against the dangerous
Middleweight Black Fighter George Co Jack O’Brien went seven win no loss and no draw against George Cole and that is not easy to do George Cole was a major league danger Fighter um as you’ll see on his video he also had five fight series with excellent Contender Jack
Bonner uh Jack O’Brien went four wins no loss and one draw um against Jack Bonner he also went unbeaten in another fight series against um Jack twin Sullivan okay brother of Mike twin Sullivan the former welterweight champion Jack twin Sullivan well traveled Fighter for ausu um but Jack O’Brien went three- win no
Loss and one draw against Jack twin silven and he also went three straight wins against the excellent middleweight to heavyweight Contender Mike Shrek already there to add to the first slide okay we’ve had a battery of alltime greats and great names on the first slide and on this slide uh We’ve
Also had other um alltime greates like Jack Blackburn other excellent Fighters like George Cole Peter Mah Charles kid McCoy I mean the names on Jack O’Brien’s resumee go on and on but he’s not quite finished yet okay he also fights former middleweight Contender Hugo Kelly um on
Four occasions going two win one loss and one draw and um Jack O’Brien fights heavyweight Contender Al calman um on three occasions going one win two loss and no draw he also defeats okay former middleweight Contender tough and rugged um brawler Larry Temple going two win no
Loss no draw he also beats former heavyweight Contender Fireman Jim Flynn um going one win no loss no draw and the final fight on here is against Contender Jim Jeffords um who Jack O’Brien goes five win no loss no draw so on those two slides there there is a myriad of
Excellent names that Philadelphia Jack o’ban fought and as you can see a lot of the major opponents he fought never actually beat him you know whether it be Jack Blackburn and Kim McCoy didn’t beat him okay Peter Mah didn’t beat him Jack Sullivan didn’t beat him many of his
Major opponents even on the last slide as as well a whole number of them do not beat Jack O’Brien you know it shows his quality as a figh and I’ve always argued Jack O’Brien um is a legitimate all-time great and he’s a very underrated fighter historically because when you look at
Those two slides there you know that resume is absolutely packed with alltime greats Champions Hall of Famers contenders the works and he has a massive winning record against them in fact at the bottom okay his total comes to 71 fights against those opponents and Jack O’Brien has a massive winning
Record against them um going 51 wins 12 losses and eight draws and some people would say well he has 12 defeats in there but also a number of those are to alltime greats Hall of Famers etc etc so I would put Philadelphia Jack O BR uh
Jack O Brens say estimated top 10 fights if ratings were around at that time I’d estimate it between probably 75 to 85 top 10 fights he would end up with which is actually a huge total that puts him in almost Henry Armstrong kenary arching more category in terms of the level of
Top contenders he fought so that is High Praise indeed because all of those Fighters I mentioned are legitimate alltime greats um and you know in terms of Henry Armstrong kener and arimar they are all top 10 fighters of all time in my top thousand ranking so that kind of
Shows along with fighting the pound pound number one fighter in my alltime ranking Sam lford who he lost to as well as fighting multiple other top 5050 entrance you know like Bob fit Simmons um you know on and on um I think the Jack O’Brien has a great resume because
He was a great fighter so let us leave that there okay let us go on to First of his start slides now Jack O’Brien obviously fought in the pre- rating era um so basically he fought no rated opponents as the ratings were not around but like I said midpoint this year I’m
Going to Deep dive through archives and I’m a number of Publications did Regular ratings 3 months six months yearly I’m going to pick two say two Publications and start Gathering all those ratings together okay because i’ I’ve read thousands and tens of thousands of Articles and they’ll often list the
Eight major divisions they’ll list the fighters who are the top 10 in those divisions at a certain point in year and I’m going to start Gathering those together to slowly build ratings for the pre- rating era but that is a long-term project that will take a few years but
In terms of Jack O’Brien the percent of his career against rated opponents th is zero now the percent of his career Champions um is 133% and some people would think that’s low but you’ve also got to remember you know how large his career was you know it was near 200
Fights so it’s not exactly um you know a small career so he couldn’t fight 50 fights against Champions or he’d have to fight nearly 100 fights against Champions we always have to remember that were big careers 8% of his career was fighting Hall of Famers and Jack o’
Bren fought 16% of his career against P Pounders and of course on slides coming up uh we’ll list the Champions Hol famous and pound-for-pound has beaten and knocked out now only 2% of his career was in title fights now Jack O’Brien won the light heavweight title
He never actually defended it um it was vacated a short time after and he went to campaign at heavyweight um so 0% of his career was making title defenses and in terms of Knockouts he was an authorative puncher an accurate puncher but not a big you know slam bam thank
You man so 28% of his overall fight total was Knockouts 18% of all his career fights were Knockouts in three rounds or less and 3% were Knockouts in one round or less all percentages rounded down now in terms of distance fights okay Jack O’Brien fought the fourr round distance on 10 occasions he
Fought the six round distance on a staggering 9 occasions he fought the eight round distance twice he fought the 10 round distance 11 times never fought the 12 round distance but he fought the 15 round distance on four occasions and default the 20 round distance on five occasions now five occasions seems like
Maybe a lot to some but trust me to sum fighter has been covered some of them fought over a dozen 20 round distance fights and some of them fought a pile of fights 20 round plus distance fights so you will see that grow as my new career
Playlist grow but let us go to our next slide okay and the next slide features koos and rounds box now Jack o’ Bren did score 55 Knockouts in his career now a massive percent of them at 35 were inside three rounds or less and Jack O’Brien also scored seven first round
Koos Philadelphia Jack o’ Bren scored 1 KO against the champion one KO against a Hall of Famer and he also scored two Kos against P Pounders Jack o’ brighten also scored Knockouts over three unbeaten Fighters but against rated Fighters okay a new St I’ve added in these care videos
That I didn’t add in last one Jack O’Brien obviously fighting no rated opponents with no ratings been around pre- rting era he scores zero koos against rated Fighters obviously when we’re going to rating era you know with Armstrong’s Rob as Charles’s Walcott’s marcianos that’s when you’ll start to
See the proper figures going there what you’ll be able to mix a match against other fighters in rting here at see who had the best knockout records um against rated Fighters now in terms of rounds box Jack O’Brien fought a mammoth 1,171 professional career rounds 59 of
Those rounds were title fight rounds and 186 of those rounds were fought against Champions now Jack O’Brien also fought 141 rounds against Hall of Fame Fighters and he fought a massive 212 rounds against fighters who are pound-for-pound rated many of these stats on this slide
Are new from the old ker videos but I wanted to not downgrade the stats like I was going to do originally I wanted to upgrade them massively from the old blue screens now terms of rounds of against top 10 Fighters I could tell you grebs right now even though he only had a
Quarter of his career in R era it’s still massive but I won’t I’ll I’ll keep the surprise for his video but Jack o’ban fought no rounds against top 10 Fighters top three fre Fighters or ring Champions now as you can probably tell I’m more streamlined than I was
Yesterday um on the first one back now on to Champions now Jack O’Brien had 25 fights against Champions he went a total of 12 win nine loss four draw and we have to remember um when considering well that doesn’t look a great record he also fought bit Simmons multiple times
Langford Jack Johnson Barbados Walcott the quality of many of the Champions he fought was you know Hall of Fame alltime great category so no fighter is going to win them all but it’s still a massive record against champions for a preting ER fighter and Philadelphia Jack O’Brien actually beat 10 individual Champions he
Beat former color Champions okay Bobby dobs young Peter Jackson the dangerous Baltimore demon and former color middleweight champion Frank Greg he also defeated the great Barbados demon Barbados Joe Walcott himself also beat former heavyweight champions at both colored and established title Marvin Hart um George bers and Bob Simmons and
He also beat former C middleweight champion Joe Butler and to add to that list okay to make up the 10 Champions that Jack O’Brien beat he also beat former heavyweight champion Tommy Burns and he beat Dixie kid now Philadelphia Jack O’Brien scored Knockouts over two individual Champions they are Joe Butler and bobit
Simmons so let us go to our next slide okay powering through next slide is Hall of Famer category now Jack O’Brien had 17 fights against Hall of Fame opposition um and when a total of seven win six loss and four draw and in terms of individual Hall of Famers beat Jack
O’Brien beat six Hall of Fame Fighters and they were okay Barbados Joe wilcott and the excellent technician Joe chinski Bob fit Simmons Tommy Burns Jack Blackburn and Dixie kid and Jack O’Brien um as indicated on last slide knocked out one of those Hall of Famers that was
Bob Fitz Simmons but really not too tardy a fighter to have stopped in your career so on to the p Pounders Jack O’Brien has a massive record against pound pound rated fighters in my alltime ratings coming in with a massive total of 31 31 fights against pound for
Pounders when many of these so-called pound-for-pound rated Fighters now haven’t even had 10 fights against top 10 rated opponents that’s mainly because of shorter careers less fight activity etc etc but it just needs to be put in context so Jack o’ bra’s incredible record of 18 wins eight loss and five
Draw against P pound rated Fighters and he also beat a massive total of 12 individual pound-for-pound rated Fighters they were um Tommy West now um just as I explain just I’ll explain again the Champions Hall of Famers and pound Pounders sometimes are the same but sometimes they’re different you can
Get a champion who’s not in the Hall of Fame you can get a Hall of Famer like chinski who was never a champion and you can get P pound Fighters like Dave Holly who was not Champion or Hall of fam yet so you know they are different on some
Sides you’ll get the same with some Fighters other Fighters you’ll get differences so the 12 pound pound Fighters Jack O’Brien beat were Tommy West Frank Craig okay the excellent Charlie mcka and Barbados Joe Walcott Joe trinsky the Irish puncher Peter Mah Marvin Hart Bob fit Simmons Tommy Burns
Dixie kid Jack Blackburn the great defensive fighter great rival of Langford and Bobby dobs now Jack O’Brien also knocked out two pound-for-pound rated Fighters one of them was also a champion in Hall of Famer that is Bob fit Simmons and one who was pound pounder is the excellent Charlie mcka I
Cannot wait to demonstrate their careers to you as well many fighters like Charlie mcka Tim Callahan over and over there’s going to be some um excellent careers I’ve never covered before but Jack O’Brien has certainly got an excellent record against pound Pounders over 30 fights against them scarily that
31 fight total is way shorter than Harry grebs um as you will see when Harry gb’s video comes it is ready but sadly it doesn’t come until the next year a 1910 1930 um so I have to finish the 18991 here at first so anyway on to our next
Slide now this is rated opponents now obviously have explained a few times Jack O’Brien fought no rated opponents fighting long before the pre rating era now on Fighters like sugar Robinson aim Mo you know Tony kenary you will get all their records and stats in there you
Know Floyd Maya the Pacquiao when we get to Modern time uh Mike Tyson Etc but um Jack O’Brien pre- rating era so his record against top 10 Fighters is zeros he zeros against top three and zeros against ring Champions um and thusy beat zero rated Fighters now in terms of
Rated Fighters knocked out also that is zero um due to him not fighting any rated opponents due to the time he fought in so we won’t waste too much time on that slide we’ll go on to this one this is ratings and divisions rated and again that’ll matter more when we
Get to the rating era okay so Jack O’Brien was top 10 rated top three rated and ring Champion for zero years there’s no point wasting much time on this one he scored zero ring rating points now just to explain to anybody new who doesn’t understand the ring rating
Points and on another slide the pound pound rating points basically I’ve got every year each fighter is rated okay and their positions listed okay so I created a basic point system you get so many points for number one downgrading to 10th Place okay and every year a
Fight is rated okay he gains that many points the number of years is’s rated creates a ring rating points that is simply to show high level rankings or consistency based over years if a guy’s rated five years um if a guy’s rated five years and he scores lots of ring
Rating points you know he’s been rated highly every year if he’s rated five years and only gets a small total you know he’s been in like the bottom third of the top 10 each year you know it’s just one of those things and top 10
Rated in z uh top 10 top three rated in ring Champion obviously in zero divisions now Philadelphia Jacko Bran’s longest unbeaten run people talk about 49 and0 and people talk about you know M uh Floyd May with a Marciano and Joe kagi 46 and0 Jack o’ brion’s longest
Unbeat him run okay not from the start of his career but the longest unbeat him run in his career was a massive 66 fights which is an enormous unbeaten run um all things considered so on to our next slide they come thick and fast I’m producing more statistics on boxers many
Boxers who were not even spoken of on YouTube by virtually everybody except scrapbook boxing um but I’m going to be sh sharing all these statistics on all of these Fighters including contenders you know etc etc so Jack O’Brien had a total of four World title fights his
Title fight record is one win one loss and two draws he made no title defenses as I indicated before of that light heavyweight title ashamedly if he’d have had a run at light heavyweight rather than going to heavyweight and campaigning there where he fought lford Johnson and many others um you know he
Probably would have been held in a better standing if he had a defined Title reign as a light heavweight Champion but you know it is what it is so Jack O’Brien had four unified title fights okay went one win one lost two draw and made zero unified title
Defenses now wins in title fights against top 10 Fighters top three fighters in ring Champions don’t need to explain it again is zeros he did score one win against champion in the title fight one win against a Hall of Famer and that fighter was also um a pound-for-pound rated fighter so onto
Our next slide okay is pound-for-pound um stats so Jack O bran was pound-for-pound top 10 rated in my alltime rankings for 5 years he was pound pound top three rated for two years and he was pound pound number one rated for zero years and Philadelphia Jacko bran scored 37 pound pound rating
Points and as indicated on a prior slide his total number of pound Pounders beaten is a massive 12 um his record against pound Pounders is 18 win eight loss and five draw and for the first time I’m sharing record against pound pound top three and pound pound number
One Fighters Jack O’Brien had a massive 19 fights against pound pound top three Fighters with a winning record of nine win six loss and four draw and he had seven fights against pound pound number one rated Fighters going one win five loss and one draw so he beat one pound
Pound rated fighter I was originally going to list the number of pound pound number one rated Fighters beating individually uh but the slide’s quite clear there and I didn’t want to Mook it up having a few little um errands on the next slide so on two titles one okay Jack
O’Brien the world title he held was the world light heavyweight title he was lineal Champion um at light heavyweight and he also was Undisputed champion at light heavyweight um but you know like I’ve mentioned before shamly um he never defended those titles to leave a defined
Title reign um so thy never gets the real credit of being a champion like others do and on to the last slide okay is rating slide now Philadelphia Jack O’Brien um rates at 23rd Place all time in my top 1200 plus rankings now in the title record top 50 Philadelphia Jack
O’Brien is not ranked but in the pound-for-pound record top 50 and I’ve got categories of all these go to hundreds and hundreds of Fighters listed all ranked by their pound pound record um to find out where Fighters place you’ll have to see the videos but Jack
O’Brien comes in at 16th Place and when you consider the battery of great fighters from Gans to charge so many uh Jack Britain kid Lewis you know Langford Armstrong greb really is remarkable to even finish in 16th Place so does Jack O BR join the boxing librarian Hall of
Fame listed on my website okay um boxing librarian. comom is my full listing of my hall of fame and my full listing the first time creating a hall of alltime Grace so Jack O’Brien does qualify into the boxing librarian Hall of Fame and he also does qualify into the tougher to
Get into a boxing library in Hall of alltime great now rating by country okay Jack O’Brien rates in my alltime rankings as the 19th greatest American fighter of all time so coming in 19th Place um is actually again a good Testament so like I said to see those hall of fames and
Hall of alltime great you can go to boxing librarian. comom um me top 100 is on there I’ve updated it recently as well um but I doubtless me top 12200 on there the 1,200 Fighters I have rated with with nearly what 130 stats on everyone um I don’t list all them on
There okay but there’s a lot of stuff on my website but mainly for that point cash me all of Fame me top 100 in me Hall of alltime Grace I’m slowly building some other pages and also me stat books are on there where for a small fee you can actually buy stat
Books um that include multiple pages of stats on hundreds of fires so okay that is the end of Philadelphia Jack O’Brien now as I explained I’m doing these instead of recording videos saving them uploading them I’m doing them okay on live stream because here it’s more streamlined it’s
Quicker when I finish I’ve finished I don’t have to save I don’t have to upload I don’t have to do any of that so I elected to do my live streams but like I said yesterday on the James sh jeffes that sadly doesn’t give me much time to
Go to the live chat the live chat is more when I’ll do a topical talk if I’m talking about news or if I’m talking about topic as I’m well known I fully interact on the live chat but these videos are not about the live chat they’re not about having a hangout okay
They are to highlight the career videos of the Fighters okay so my apologies to anyone in the live chat I do not I will not be following the live chat on these videos I would disable it if I could um you know just so people know and then
People can leave comments like they would under a video okay but these videos and me St videos and me top 10 by countries are not about the live chat I will of course do live streams where I interact with everybody in live chat answer any questions um have any
Descriptions I want to have but these kind of videos are not that but there is my first light everyway so now I’ve got three up now okay um I did Sam Langford nearly two months ago now that Sam Langford video is a monster um yesterday I did Jim
Jeffes okay one of the early great heavyweight champions today I’ve done Philadelphia Jack o’ Brien so I’ve now opened up the light heavyweight Division and going over next week okay I’m going to get at least one video on the first eight playlists I have 17 playlists
Ready when we go to 1910 1930 we’ll get the first Super featherweights the first light welterweights the first Super Banton weights like Jack kid wolf um we’ll get the first of those intermediate divisions but divisions like cruiserweight lightly Superfly you know um Etc like middleweight they will
Come later when their divisions came in I’m doing eras 18 199 10 when I go to next era that’s when the first light wellwe super bam super feathers they then they them divisions go on hiatus so they’ll stop when the restart later in time then Fighters will start getting
Added again so it’s going to slowly follow the pattern of the divisions um and slowly the playlist will fill up but there’s three major Fighters done there but as well as the major Fighters there’s going to be all the contenders kid mcpartland um you know just so many
Fighters I’m not even going to roll call um but we are going to cover so many fighters the 18 198 10 has well over 100 Fighters the 1910 1913 ERA with the coming of Britain kid Lewis dunde you know Harry greb Harry Wills Dempsey you know all the great names there Joe Lynch
Pete Kerman down at Bantam way wild Pano via Genaro La Barber all fighters are going to be covered but I I’m doing an year at a time so if people are waiting for certain videos on certain Fighters um sadly you’ll have to wait until I get
To that era to get your videos even though Fighters like har greb and a whole number of Fighters are done and their videos are immense and Har grebs opponent list you know the initial slides where I list his major opponents record against him Harry GBS is enormous
I’ll just say multiple slides but you will have to get to that to see that and also you’ll see har grips incredible rounds against p Pounders new stats I’ve added rounds against ra for everything so watch out for more videos coming up okay I am finished for now tomorrow okay
I will not do a fighter video I will get my second of my three new types playlist coming I’ll do my first stat matchup video tomorrow brand new style no graphs like the olden days with the numbers on top this is pictures of the fighters listings down left and right categories
In the middle T up at the end first start matchup is coming tomorrow so watch out for I’m the boxing librarian is good to be back it’s good to be uploading regular content again over the last six months I’ve done maybe four or five live streams and a few videos um
But now we are back on the grind and I will not stop until I get that 2010 to now era there the fighters who’ve retired added day like V Klitschko and Mayweather and Pacquiao I will not stop okay until I get there it’s going to be
A long journey and there’s going to be hundreds and hundreds of Fighters covered I’m the boxing librarian I’m out for now
