PGA Tour and LIV Golf make decision on merger deadline after little progress. A proposed framework was announced on June 6 for a merger between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf with an initial deadline set for December 31 for an agreement to be reached… but there has been a U-TURN in this decision which is going to impact every single golfer on and off the LIV golf and PGA tour.

The DP World Tour were previously ‘optimistic’ of deal with PGA Tour and LIV Golf as talks rumbled on, but now everything has changed. PGA Tour-LIV Golf Partnership Remains Uncertain as Deadline Approaches and is likely to be surpassed, so, a NEW decision has been made which many golf fans are calling a U-TURN.

The PGA Tour and Liv golf have announced they’re extending the deadline so the deadline for the framework agreement was set for the 31st of December and as no surprise to me to you as a gol fan or maybe you as a PJ Tour player this has

Not been met now I know negotiations are between both parties but this cannot categorically be a good look for the PJ tour now we’re hearing this from very credible sources inside the negotiations that have told the telegraph here this is literally breaking news I found this

Story I’ve seen it from my sources and this is not a good look let’s go into this now first off is anybody actually surprised that this deadline hasn’t been met I’m not so remember on June the 6th this year we found out that the PGA Tour

And Liv golf were going to merge or that’s what we thought was going to happen and at that point there and announcement was wrong the announcement was meant to be that all litigations against each other were going to drop so any lawsuit that the PJ tour had any

Lawsuit that the Liv golf team had they were going to be dropped but that rhetoric got put out in a different way that rhetoric was put out that an agreement that had already been met it hadn’t they then said by the 31st of this year we would have an agreement

That we would have some sort of new investment from PF which own live golf into the PGA Tour to become a partner in this new company called PGA Tour Enterprises The Profit side of the PGA Tour because right now the PGA Tour is run as a nonprofit organization so you

Have to see this as this is a deadline that was going to be met the information at the start was all wrong so then we said this deadline it was all very very messy and I think a lot of players were frustrated I think a lot of gol fans are

Getting frustrated and it’s just not a good look to the PJ tour now along that road we have seen players leave live leave PJ tour to join live and there has been a little bit of back and forth but I really do believe earlier this month the movement of John Ram is a

Significant point and maybe one of the points that has pushed that deadline back so John Ram was the latest player to lead the PJ tour in favor of the live golf league and this is sort of in the region of $450 million and the reason why I feel

That this is a strong negotiation point for Liv golf is that now hang on you’ve got to take our money we’ve just taken a Masters champion we’ve just taken a top five player in the world we’ve just taken one of your biggest assets you now have to take us seriously and I feel

Like was almost lives golf’s way of strong arming the PGA Tour or what it seemed to look like and a lot of people are saying that a lot more players are to follow suit rumors of Tony feno rumors of till Hatton rumors of a lot of big-time players that are either big

Time now or sort of coming towards the end of their career and I feel that the John Ram part of this was a strong part of live golf’s negotiations not John Ram personally but the deal that was done now I have to say I was very much in the

Mindset when I first heard about this that you know what a deal can be struck but now I have to say this I don’t think one can I’m literally 50/50 one day I had this argument with myself that yeah you know what a deal can be struck the

Next day I’m like no nothing can be done here I don’t see how when live golf are pursuing players like they are live golf are growing their venues growing their tour growing their amount of events as they are how that can become together I mean the rumors are that play players

Can play either tour I just don’t see how that’s going to happen but let me know what you think J andad deal can be Shook and is it in the interests of golers let’s think about this as me and you as fans that a deal is struck or is

It not I feel that R trick is starting to change because of the frustrations now the initial deadline as I say was December 31st for a agement to be reached between PJ tour and Liv golf however according to the telegraph this is not likely to happen it has been

Claimed in the report that an agreement is not expected to be reached before the New Year by the two parties however it is hoped that a deal can be done in the coming months I question this the new possible deadline that is being rumored is around April next year with the

Extension to be expected in the coming days and to be official and the the the rhetoric is that the Masters or the start of the Masters Masters week is going to be that new proposed deadline sources are saying this and this is quoted there’s no chance a deal can be

Announced by the end of the week others are saying but maybe by the end of March which is just before the Masters now I feel that there is also another angle we can look at this Fenway Sports Group which is a huge organization owned Liverpool since

2010 owners of the Boston Red Sox major league baseball team the Pittsburgh Penguin national hockey team announced on the 10th of December they would continue their negotiations with strategic Sports Group whilst also maintaining the PF live golf merger so you had this other interest from Big organizations within America that threw

Their hat in the ring to say you know what we would be interested in this so let’s just go through this what has contributed to this deadline well I think the PJ tour and live golf’s interest don’t quite align I also think big players going over to live golf

Likes of John Ram other rumors happening have also delayed this process but I also think the PJ tour were thinking hang on a second could we get money from other places and I think that’s a dangerous bit I think that’s really dangerous because I feel that okay the

Fway Sports Group uh big investment companies in America have very Deep Pockets but I feel live golf PF have deeper and I feel if they took money from elsewhere totally and didn’t include live at all or PF at all that is a very dangerous feat their money that

They would offer players would go up their Investments would go up their aggressiveness to taking over golf would be Amplified and I feel that would be very very dangerous um I really don’t know what to say on this I’m very much like I say 50/50 but all I feel right

Now is that I know negotiations are between PJ tour and Liv golf but right now this looks worse than PJ tour players are frustrated people are frustrated fans are frustrated I just want a deal to be done or at least an announcement to be made on what is

Happening like look guys we are on today the 29th why have we not heard anything now as golf fans and I bet you this if the PJ tour have got anything like they have on their form recently I bet you the PJ tour players do not even know

Either I’m telling you I bet they don’t even know now as soon as we get more breaking news on this any more leaked information I will bring it to you I look forward to bringing you the breaking news not only to finish off this year in 2023 but in 2024 too

  1. The Liv Tour and PGA Tour will never reach an agreement. The end goal for the LIV Tour is to garner OWGR points for its players. When that happens they will sign 3 to 5 "big name" players. After that LIV and the DP Word Tour will reach an agreement for their top players to play on tournaments on each tour. Eventually only the British Open will remain as the last of the traditional majors.
On a side note, Harold Varner was arrested for DUI on Thursday 12/28. I'm curious to see how the LIV Tour handles this breach of code of conduct.

  2. It will happen, one way or another, either they merge soon, or LIV will just let PGA tour slowly die as they pick off more and more players, when sponsors start to leave he PGA they are screwed, LIV have endless funds and can go on for years picking off players, if it wasn't going to happen they would not have extended the deadline.

  3. The only question will be when LIV players get exemptions into the majors so we can see the best v the best. I dont give a shit about the pgatour

  4. Not sure why Liv even want to merge, players are moving numbers are up and well sponsors will have to move with the players so i would just wait not like Liv dont have enough money to outlast the PGA

  5. They need to sort this out or the majors will be a joke as some of the best players in the world will not be playing.
