This game was damning for a team call the Saints.
I hear the bit about great qbs elevating the team but tbh having a great qb isn’t enough either. Yes, a burrow would be better than a carr but more importantly a shannahan would be better than a Dennis Allen. Why? Because it’s been proven more times that you can have an average qb with a great coach and good team and make it as far and sometimes farther than a team with just a great qb. So I’m fine with changing QBs. At the point where I don’t care about that. I care more about who is calling plays, who is leading practices, who is instilling a culture. Those things matter way more. Cause what did burrow do that Super Bowl? He lost. Where are the bengals now? Fighting for a playoff spot with burrow now hurt. Where is Herbert? Hurt and team out the playoffs. Coaching makes all the difference. So do what they will but we better get a coach first. If they keep DA fine. However OC, is not fine. Give us a OC who is young, and not afraid to take command of his unit, aka bench carr if he feels it’s best decision

I absolutely agree with this rant. That game was totally winnable and they gave it away. I turned the game off at the half bc letting your OPPONENT score a TD right BEFORE the half is unacceptable. I can’t stand watching Derek Carr, and this coaching staff lead the team and the fans into misery, watching a mediocre QB and the worst coaches in the NFL makes me want to 🤮.
We had one of the easiest schedules in the league this year and they are below a 500 record with that easy schedule. How can you talk playoffs in the NFC with San Francisco and Philly and Dallas.

The Saints offensive line currently (15 games played) has the lowest pressure percentage rate and least sacks allowed in the ENTIRE NFL. The head coach has been making bad decisions since training camp and the offensive coordinator shouldn’t be an offensive coordinator. Only then does Derrick Carr’s ineptitude as a quarterback add insult to injury. He can’t read the field, which is why he holds onto the ball so long. Watching every game shows his inability to decide on passes or read defenses. The offensive line is not to blame for poor coaching decisions, bad play calling and terrible QB play.
Sooooo…are we not going to talk about Cam Jordan getting a 28 million dollar extension (all guaranteed) and producing 2 sacks for the season? C'mon Matt, to use Burrow standards for Carr is wild. Joe is the 2nd best QB in the league, and we might never ever have that again.
Carr is mid, a system QB, who plays well in a good system and bad in a bad system – which we are now.
He played exactly what we were supposed to expect given the team's current condition.
Hopefully Loomis finally realizes we are not in an all-in mode anymore, and improve our cap and draft capital situation, so we can load up in 2025 and with great coaching.

Go back and watch every sack on CARR. Most of the time its 51 or 74 missing tackles. I know you want to say CARR should throw faster, but receivers need more than 2 seconds to run a route.

I haven't seen a Saints team that was this miscoached since Ditka. The Saints draft picks have been missing in action for health and ability reasons. Three of this year's draft class have been injured or unavailable to play- Foskey, Miller and Salaveri have gimped out and joined previous first-round pick Payton Turner that has been out with a toe injury the entire season. Haener missed five games for doping violations. Another first-round pick, Trevor Penning, has been injured or incompetent and is a big bust. The new draftees since 2017 have not panned out well for the Saints.
Blaming Carr again? It was a team lost to me. Everybody from both side of the ball, specual team but mostly.coaches to me. On those 2 sacks i would have called screen passes knowing the Rams would be blitzing. I did not see a single screen pass until garbage time. Carr did well in garbage time because he called his own plays. Offensely i have no clues why Kamara, Taysom, Graham was not involved in the game plan at all. Graham would had helped out on the 3rd crucial downs. Defensively Stafford had all day to throw. I dont know what happened to the play callings vs Giants went?

One of the perks of drafting a first round qb is the cheap contract for 4 to 5 years. If the eye is to build for the future, I don't think drafting a qb in this upcoming draft really does much to benefit the future of the saints. Given carrs contract, you are already handicapped at the position and sitting a rookie for a year isnt really getting the greatest value. The saints are an old team that is severely weighed down by dead money. If the idea is to build for the future, shouldn't the idea be to maximize the value of the contracts of the young players being brought in to replace an old roster? Within the next two years mathieu, maye, jordan, ramchk, davis, kamara, hurst, taysom, thomas, peat, are all likely to be gone. Everyone knows how important the qb position is. And for that reason, it is by far the most expensive. When the saints draft a qb, they really need to make sure the get the most out of that first contract. Drafting a qb this upcoming draft, i dont think gets you the full value. The saints are going to suck for at least two more years. I don't think there is really any disputing that. And if by some chance, they clean house this offseason from loomis down, it wont matter who the new coach is because they are going to have limited resources to spend in free agency given all the dead money. Having said as much, the saints record next season is likely going to be worse than this season, meaning a better draft position. Wait one more year, then draft a qb, get rid of carr and by then a lot of the dead money will be gone. That is of course assuming the saints use this next off season to actually focus on the future and take the hits that theyve been avoiding.

The defense and Matthew Stafford's greatness did us in but once again they criminally have underused Taysom Hill. Ultimately they are easily a playoff team if they use him more and definetly a playoff team if he was the starting QB all season.
Just blaming Derrick Carr when the defense sucked and Olave drops passes is a stretch. But Taysom HIll should be starting. The option of Winston is not an option – he is terrible. Yes, Carr is way better than Winston but not good enough to give this team consistent wins. Remember a few games back when they suddenly used Taysom more and looked great – even comparing his short yardage to the surest thing next to the tush push. Then, the pulled the football from Charlie Brown again and just suddenly didn't use Taysom almost at all. Just ridiculous. They don't use him because they don't want to be proven wrong – he is not a TE – he is the best QB they have on the team.
