A Yeah Oh [Applause] yeah Oh You Oh Oh Yeah Oh St Oh Yeah [Applause] Oh All right all right folks welcome back to Maritime athletic profiles on YouTube for tonight’s coverage of the 902 Hoops League Division 2 championship game we’ve got Above the Rim the number three seed on the season taking on the eight seed Akatsuki Allen April here joined by

Tracy Williams and Tracy yes sir back at it night three of uh 902 Hoops playoff action both these teams had some big semi-final wins just a couple nights ago on Tuesday I know you’re familiar with a lot of players out here on the court what do you expect to tonight’s match up

You know what I’m going to expect a very high paced game a very fastpaced game Sorry and uh hopefully we’re going to see a lot of uh lot of uh discipline when it comes to uh executing on the offensive Bend for c for a certain team

Um I know we had a little bit of wildness during one of those those semi-final games and hopefully that will not rear its ugly head tonight it’ll just you know guys are just comeing and play some ball and have some fun and uh yeah that’s what I expect I expect a

High PAC game as we’ll tell you how they got here Above the Rim wearing white with the ball now this is TJ Hall at Deep three little off the mark but uh you know I’m I’m seeing Above the Rim they’re a bit short-handed you know we’re getting we’re getting close to

Christmas and it’s tough for guys to to make commitments all the time um but they still have a lot of talented players including the hullet brothers I know you know them well oh yeah well I coached TJ when he played at Co Harbor uh Cory was gone by the time I got there

But uh Cory uh TJ used to be our franchise guy uh he played against some of the best of the best at at that time coming out of high school ball he played against you know Horton the provincial Champions he had a great game against them he played great against citel dth

High he’s you know he was a highly recruited player too decided to go the uh the NCC route and he’s you know doing his thing in his career and he’s doing really well and being successful in that but he was an amazing basketball player in high school and these two had a big

Game Jawan States and Demar Parsons Jaan States uh couple you know sort of Elder Statesmen in this league they’ve been in the local ball scene for a long time they they got great chemistry what more can I say about Jan States Jan States uh coming out of high school he played the

Same patch when they were provincial Champs highly recruited he’s recruited by everybody ended up playing some ball out west uh then coming home but uh you know what more can I say about him Demar Parson amazing ball player great motor on him there’s Daniel Kane first two of

The night my guy puts Akatsuki up you know we talk we talk a lot about this league and how it’s got something for everyone I I notice uh you know you look at this five for Akatsuki I think four of the five are are over 33 34 years old

Yeah that’s some old heads playing put it this way bro uh Danny Kane I gave him a starting senior he played on my one of one of my senior teams I used to run back in the day when he was done playing his college ball what have you was you

Know starting his career and you know like he’s been playing in this type of ball for the last 20 years and he’s been effective all of those years like he’s still an effective ball player um you know keeps himself together he keeps himself in shape like most of these guys

Do I mean you see a lot of lot of muscular dudes on the floor right now you know like uh there states with a nice running layup and a quick six nothing lead for akitsuki he’s going to do that uh Jan gets to the hole pretty quick oh there’s Jaden nordan’s floater

Short and he seems to be working through an ankle tweak off that last play came down a little awkwardly on it but Devon Downey puts in the first two of the night for Above the Rim Above the Rim was the three seed they’ve got a 10 and3 record overall 8679 win over Monday

Mayhem in the semi-final but dear Parsons is going to be a problem here tonight that’s a quick four points for him now we’re going to we’re going to say one thing Above the Rim is a little short-handed actually I think both teams are missing a few players tonight we’ll

We’ll run through that in in a second here as hullet gets it in for Downey now TJ holl is going to drive left nice drop off for Downey and he’ll finish with the layup but yeah Above the Rim sorry missing Tyler Scott Liam Glenn who we

Saw the other night yeah I’m well he was here last night was yeah he was yeah so I’m wondering where he is I know Tyler’s homick as well as Javy Sabel not suited up tonight they do have three substitutes though so and meanwhile for ritsuki as Cory hollit

Unable to get the lane to go gets his own rebound they’re letting him play yeah no whistles we got a three three man officiating crew here Three Vets of the game Larry Greg and Joey as Parsons gets the rebound but loses the handle and now it’s numbers for Above the Rim miscommunication there

Kelly wasn’t expecting the pass that’s okay that’s that’s going to happen it’s early in the game this is this is the time you’re going to make some of those mistakes uh so we ran through who’s missing for Above the Rim for Akatsuki they’re missing Isaiah Cromwell Wright who’s a heck of a play

And amazing basketball Nathan Simon as well yeah you know you’re talking about two guys that were high school on beasts so you know uh and both of them used to make their their you know make their names in the you know the spring and summer tournaments uh you seen them

Around those are big losses right now Above the Rim has a Demar Parson’s problem that’s seven quick points for him they’re up 114 and above the rim is going to take a Time outar Parson’s got probably the quickest first step of anybody you’re going to see in any of

The leagues here he has super fast he was the player of the game the other night in the interview you know he said I’m I’m 35 now I’m getting up there but for him to to still have that athleticism that ability to rise up and knock down jumpers well he’s lucky he’s

35 he doesn’t have 35 year old weight so he’s you know he’s still he’s still he’s only maybe 10 pounds heavier than ball than ball ball play than playe weight so you know he’s still able to get get to where he’s got to get to he’s can get to

His spots got a couple substitutions in here for Above the Rim first looks at Nigel Brown and Jake Taver as here’s Cory hollit and Jaden Norton early sub for him you got to be wondering about that ankle as Nigel Brown can’t knock down the 12 foot jumper now Taver kicks

It out brown this time for three short um yeah early in the game uh that stuff’s going to happen this is when you want it to happen you don’t want to happen in the you know in the later quarters uh you know third or fourth you’re going to get the mistakes out get

Them out of the way quick you know well in the semi final the other night as Cory Hollis three is short Jaden Norton had 25 points Tyler Scott had 22 and without either of them that’s a lot of a lot of scoring punch missing from the line half your scoring gone right there

I mean even I mean just just Tyler missing itself that’s a that’s a huge loss because he can play anything he can play any position on the court from one to for and you know when it comes to him running an offense he knows what he’s

Doing so it’s you know missing that and those two feed off each other as they have been since they were kids so it’s you know you’re missing Tyler you’re missing a whole lot there takes away from the team it’s Ronald Brown Jr on the free throw line knocks down a pair

What you know about rbj rbj man I that guy play I I played in high school yeah since he was a kid yeah greatest attitude ever he’s a great teammate he’s one of those guys that’ll take you know he’ll he’ll he’ll he’ll rip a shirt off

For you he’s he’ll do anything for you he’ll run through a wall and he’s one of those dudes he’s also a protector you know if you’re on his team somebody’s messing with you he’s not going to let him mess with you and that’s the type of

Teammate that you love to have you love to play with and as you say you know he’s young way younger than me but he’s extremely coachable extremely lovable guy but very similar to us us oldheads don’t make him angry you know what I mean like he’s one of those guys but

He’s just a great ball player as Jordan Kelly’s three no good just want to mention about Ronald a shout out to his younger brother rhim in the in the CFL now yeah playing playing I think he played at University of Alberta last year but but he’ll be back in the CFL

For he was drafted by the Alex and he’s on Calgary’s roster went back to to the U OFA this year for his senior season but uh well he’s uh big boy big fell but like his brother very personable yep uh he knows what’s going on he’s not one

Good person you’re going to be able to pull something on he’s uh you know he he he’s aware of his surroundings at all times and that’s that makes for it a great athlete a great professional athlete you know got to wash him a bit in high school and uh really impressed the one

Thing that impressed me the most is that a guy at that size how fast he was you know as the otlet there Jake Taver puts it up and in and little bit of a run here cutting it to a five-point game for Above the Rim they’re getting points in

Transition Tracy and and we talk about how how important that is you know live by the three die by the three has been the story uh of the last couple games week yeah it’s you know what it’s as Ronald nice drive to the hoop unable to finish and you see they’re

Looking to leak out get going in transition good pass oh Taver couldn’t handle it now a two-on one the other way and brown to the hoop up and in look at that finish four points for Ronald Brown and his team is up seven 158 again the

Run out Taver going to be whistled for the travel oh nope we’re going to have a tie up actually there is Adam Cameron it’s a quick one he got hands on the ball Cory used to having uh you know trees that can run the floor like that and handle

Those passes and that’s you know because he plays div one a lot and he plays you know well KY who are the uh three or four time Champions he plays with the likes of Kevin Churchill and uh and Oz Barry that team yeah and those guys can

Handle those fastest EAS you know that not ten would have been a dunk you know or some or a strong finish and you know what his it’s it’s the the end result is not reflective of the of the of the meaning when it comes to what Cory’s

Trying to do I get it because it’s it’s the right decision to make but just there some guys that just they just can’t handle those passes you know they’re not six7 and but great hands you know I mean one thing tonight I mean it looks like TJ’s one of the taller guys

On the floor I mean TJ’s six SWAT three 6’4 so that you’re you’re going to see a lot of small ball tonight you know what I mean has Ronald Brown back on the free throw line it’s now three of four from the stripe nice rebound there by TJ holled

And holled brothers are going to have to carry the offensive load here as long as Mr nordon sitting on the bench there Taver rip through Blow by I’ll tell you this Jake Taver a guy I play with high motor good athlete Lefty and he’ll just attack attack attack and what’s his back

Story he actually may be from the Piko County region I’m I’m not 100% sure he’s a country boy not not from J was talking about potentially he’s not from the city proper he’s from uh somewhere but but I’ve been playing with him in in leagues like this and in pickup runs for a

Couple years now and high motor Lefty is how I describe his game well I mean you know what I’ll say this I mean outside of uh outside of uh hell ofx I mean pict County does produce a lot of ball yeah a lot of ball players a lot of hockey

Players a lot of ball players a lot of rugby players and uh if he’s from that area I’m not going to be surprised you know there’s so many programs that are being run in P in The Pick County area now I’ll say one thing about brown man

He swolled up over the years oh yeah he’s he’s built you know I gotta I gotta say that up on Facebook see if I can find where exactly Jake Taver is from I don’t want to get it wrong as TJ hollit three ball no good Cory grabs the board free throw

Does a lot uh in this league too behind the scenes helping Daniel and and the crew run the ship um I got to watch him a lot at the West uh for a lot of years I was I was a team librarian I catching Gman and I you know

Had a lot to do with the school and I got to see a lot of him when he was in high school and TJ holl knocks down the three that’s backto back threes cut it to a two-point game the holl brothers can knock down some shots we got

Ourselves a ball game we have a ball game I knew we would but the one thing I’ll say about Mr hellofax West he’s always had a great attitude and that’s you know you everybody out there in viewership land viewer land knows that I I don’t hold any punches no filter if somebody didn’t

Have a great attitude I’ll tell you and he had a great attitude you know he was a great player in his high school days now mind you that was back when Auburn and you know Citadel were running a mock but uh he held his own eight seconds remaining

Hollit puts up a three no there’s tavner and Kelly getting on the offensive glass but they’re not going to get a shot off and 1614 is our score after one we got a game we do I mean you know both these teams a little short staffed as we

Mentioned getting a little bit of C off the the question mark I’d say is we going to see Jaden Orton again tonight and if not does Above the Rim have enough scoring I you what man I don’t know I’d have to go over and ask him because he’s been sitting he doesn’t

Normally sit this long and I mean it looked like he came that ankle he came down a little awkwardly on it so I mean if that’s bothering him then you know it’s it’s like we said you know last night everybody got to go to work absolutely I I’m off work now for for

Christmas for a week but most the same breath for sure for sure you don’t see me here running up down this floor that’s not happen but I mean like you know if you tweak the ankle I mean if that’s going to in if that’s going to infringe on your your your your your

Moneymaking ability don’t play you know like don’t play but in the same breath he’s one of those guys that’s super competitive so it’s going to be you know it’s going to take an army to keep him off the floor if he really you know has it in his his heart to

The next one and that time maybe not the quickest guy in the gym but that was a legitimate Blow by on that one you know it’s the beauty part of B2 Hoops is that there’s something for everybody in this these leagues that that Daniel’s been running you know

He’s one of those guys that he’ll he’s not going to be on your radar nice rebound look at that rebound Devon Downey the lead score for them with six points he had a nice game he was their third leading scorer in the semi-final at 12 as well and Downey kind of guy you

Know he’s not going to call his own number he’s not handling the ball much but he just does the right stuff makes those hustle plays and gets easy buckets um you know this is going to be one of the one of the 20 Tracy Williams coach Williams is learning moments the one

Thing we’re trying to teach our players in high school is the fa uh fa proposition which is what he just did he put his fat a on the guy and got that rebound hey man he’s a he’s a fitness guy too I don’t think I I wouldn’t don’t

Think he’d appreciate his guy three but in the same in the same breath he did you know what we’re trying to teach our players put your fat a on the other player make some space and get that rebound that’s exactly what he did that last play and it results in him scoring

That too you know tell you this if uh if this game doesn’t decide anything I think an arm wrestling match Ronald Brown versus Devon Downey that’d be fun oh just I’ll take on the winner and Jordan Kelly knocks down another triple putting his team back on top

Well and he was a bit of a problem in that in that level comes up to D1 and you know knows his role I I say I I don’t really know a lot about him yeah I just know that he’s been consistent every time we I’ve

That’s the reason they’re Champions five times you know guys know they roll you know holled out a solid career at Mount St Vincent as well Cory rather that is yeah the right school triy to get his brother to go there tried I tried so hard to get him go play for

We that pass too high for tavner Daniel Kane two on one Kane up and in smooth finish there by Daniel Kane in transition call him Kobe oh there oh Danny Kane caught for the reach on the other side I got a question for you yeah

I I heard you saying I need a pair of these Akatsuki shorts here you’re a fashion guy yeah I I want to hear what you think about some of the uniforms you’ve seen in this league and and if you were to have a team what would the uniforms be looking

Like um I’ll say this you know that’s one of the cool things about this league uniforms you saw my Wind Jammers the old school old school nuggets I’d actually prefer if you had the actual wind Jamber yellow yeah yeah we tried that one time I have actual paer of shorts

Wind jamers and I got another Pier from uh uh thing Bob uh from when the Hurricanes were here okay yeah yeah uh hurricanes or rainmen either way rainmen e you know what do I think of the the you I think I think the jerse I think the

Jerseys are some of them are dope some of them a little I don’t know what what they thinking but uh couple years ago these were the Wind Jammers jerse you had all yellow then now you got the gold and blue right you need all gold or you

Need all blue you can’t have one you can’t have the mixture but the Tracy team what’s the uniform looking like Tracy team yeah H we’re probably thinking old school Celtics okay I like that I’m a Celtics guy so you know I’m everybody knows I’m East Co I love East

Coast the only West Coast team I love is New Orleans because you know obviously my family’s you know have my my dad’s side is from there but uh Real Talk uh I I love a lot of the uniforms in the league these shorts here I mean you know

What actually the funny thing is that Dan Danny actually think me per them so I use them for working out I work out a lot so it’s you know I like hey I don’t I like to pretend sometimes hey yeah I’m still playing no no no just it’s working

Out shorts for me but in the same breath you know a lot of the uniforms are Tastefully put together I like the fact that these teams have them and you know if guys want their last name on them they can get that feeling that or nickname or whatever yeah they can get

That feeling yeah that brings a little level of of professionalism to this league and sets it aside from some of the men’s yeah I mean well when we played when we played senior yeah you know I ran teams for about a decade in the Senior League wow tough finish there

By Demar Parsons and our main thing was to have full uniforms for our teams right and every year I’d get a new set and you guys get to keep the uniforms that’s prior of playing right and you know like the the one thing that Dan was

Trying to do and I remember when he first started the league he actually asked me my advice on some things and I said look if you’re going to do anything with you know have a league like this make it feel like the guys are playing Varsity Sports give it that feeling so

This is why you see all the uniforms you see the names on the back see guys getting a whole lot of perks you know and then it makes a play makes them appreciate it good social media following of course these webcast on Maritime Athletics but while we’ve been

Game and I say it’s entertaining uh this see this the type of ball I like and it’s one thing I was saying to uh to Jaden last night when he was helping commentate I’m I’m a little disenfranchised for the NBA right now I really am it seems scripted to me and it

Seems like guys are just going through the most of this regular season as yeah Above the Rim unable to get a quality shot off there and that’ll do it for the first half Above the Rim leads 4138 solid first half was a solid first half these two teams going at it back

And forth you know the only thing we’re missing is size yeah but uh I there was more size on that Nets team they were bigger than either of these teams last night not just the chisms they had a couple other guys 64 65 and then 67 yeah

And then the 63 guy and then we had both gu you know all the guards were at least 510 so it’s you know like it’s yeah that was in the D3 Championship last night I I have some info so the Nets won 10283 over the Wind Jammers Ben Chisum named

Uh division 3 MVP and him and his brother Alex put on a heck of a performance couple former Mount Al and Moun lock uh lock view dragons they played for the wrong high school and the wrong University yeah uh the wrong Mount the wrong Mount yeah they they put Alex

Put on a show yeah he you know we we just we talked about this early before the broadcast he did everything he rebounded ran the floor he ran the offense he found the open guy he scored when he had to he played hard D blocked a couple of shots I mean he changed

Shots like what more do you want you know he did he did everything he was supposed to do I think he might have had a triple double you know I I know I know he definitely had a double double for points and rebounds that was for sure

But I I think he might have had a triple double and his brother wow I I’ve never really paid attention to them yeah because at the mount I I’m not going to lie to you they were getting there behinds handed to them because that was in during the time of the Holland

College yep Dynasty and uh Hollander the mount for a long time in that Mount St Vincent in for a long time in that League I’m I’m really I was really impressed with him and speaking of Mount St Vincent number one team in the country right now you want to talk about

That a little Hey listen I got three cousins playing on that team the and uh you know Danny’s a good guy good friend and and uh Chase T and Chase TI yeah well Chase Chase TI Adams whatever you want to call him okay uh you know uh

Here’s the one thing I’m going to say Danny is following in the footsteps of the Plato of we to Palma yeah yeah you know and he’s really bringing a great program those guys are playing it behinds off I love it guys like Chase and uh and uh uh Jaden Smith they kind

Of hadn’t played you know they were OD of ball for a couple years League great to see them back and and find that love of the game again and and really lead that team to new heights I mean both of them okay let’s let’s talk about who

We’re let’s let’s let’s let remember who we’re talking about so I got to give you history lesson okay well I know I know fathers yeah no I’m not going to talk fathers I’m talk mothers ah Cherry Jackson who’s the mother of the twin the the the Smith boys was an All-Star hereo
