Sports are competitive especially the laid-back ones like golf every year new competitors come to try to take the stage from their seniors bringing a new wave of Talent with them it’s hard to achieve number one multiple times after all they have to put up a fight Rory Moy

Though is here to impress in this video we’ll be looking at the nine times Rory maroy became the number one golfer so stay tuned the first time was on March 2012 the Honda Classic Rory mooy is quite an incredible player but he’s got compet comption out there in the golf

World a lot of it actually Tiger Woods is the perfect example so when the crowd cheered for Tiger at the PGA National it was obvious that the player had not come there to play he made an eagle on 18 this made him only a shot behind Rory

After the lowest final round of 62 in his career yet but Rory wasn’t giving him a chance to take the spotlight once again and soon enough came in clutch when the game was nearing its end and managed a two-shot Victory which also happened to be his first ever since the

2011 US Open now that he had the win he soon replaced Luke Donald as the second youngest player to have ever become number one at the age of 22 as for the top place that still goes to Tiger Woods and it’s quite well earned not like Rory

Can do anything about it now what’s done is done and let’s face it nobody’s touching Tiger’s record anytime soon the second time was on April 2012 Rory’s first climb to the top was impressive everyone was sure that Woods would win at the start of the match after all he

Was the one who had become number one before but sports are unpredictable and their players are even more so and Rory proved this right by winning the match and taking his place at the number one spot not that anyone doubted that he was an incredible player even before that

Like even if he hadn’t ever been on number one he’d already proved to the world that he was perfectly capable of being so and number one he did become unfortunately his first run at the top of the golfing world didn’t last so long only 2 weeks in fact while it was

Probably a blow to the then pretty young golfer it was still an incredible achievement and even if he couldn’t secure his place for long now that he had got the taste of it everybody knew Rory wasn’t going to back down anytime soon and they were right and it wasn’t

Long before he came back to show the world once again what it took to be number one the third time was on May 2012 the Wells Fargo Championship not that Rory fell too far below he may not have been on the top but he did spend

The time in between at number two but soon enough he was back in only a month to be exact it seems like he isn’t a fan of lying low for too long not that second place is bad but why did he even drop in the first place well he had an

Unfortunate runin with Ricky Fowler and fell to the player in his first playoff on the tour now Ricky isn’t exactly considered one of the best players in existence far from that actually the highest ranking he’s ever had is four but still he’s a talented golfer and so

Famous among the fans for a reason so it’s no surprise that he managed to hit on Rory but Rory was able to get his dream spot back just after he managed to become the runner up at Quail Hollow the golfer jumped right back back now as incredible as that seems unfortunately

Rory yet again failed to keep his spot the first and second times he kept it for 2 weeks and here again he lost it after a few the fourth time was on August 2012 the PGA Championship and once again he dropped off in the first place still the fact that he even

Achieved it three times in such quick succession was enough to leave the golf community in awe but Rory was here to impress and he wasn’t going to settle for anything but what he knew was his best and settle he he did not it took some time a few months by August he had

Dropped to number three and he needed to do some quick work if he wanted to get back up which he did that same month and that quick work included an eight- shot route at Kiwa Island which became the golfer’s second ever major victory and it was quite a spectacular one at that

He even broke Jack Nicholas’s record for the largest margin of a win in the PGA just like that he was back on number one but this time he wasn’t knocked back down in just a few weeks in fact he kept his position for more than half half a

Year 32 weeks to be exact but of course this won’t be his last time at the top of the golfing world the fifth time was on August 2014 WGC Bridgestone Invitational so quickly so you know to to to have this in my possession and and

Be able to you know to come here with it is uh you it’s really cool Rory had an additional performance just two weeks after his wire-to-wire win at the open while playing against Sergio Garcia he turned a three- shot deficit into a two- shot lead within the space of five holes

In the final round of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational before Garcia fought back leaving the two tied heading into Firestone Country Club by with his t- shot however Rory was not done yet here on 11 for birdie from 9 ft takes back the leader where Rory closed with a

66 to win and claimed the world’s number one spot once again overtaking Adam Scott in the process Rory had finished 50th in the FedEx Cup in 2013 and had fallen out of the world’s top 10 because he was going through a management change and was adjusting to a new equipment

Deal however he went on a more impressive run in 2014 than his heater in 2012 after winning at Firestone Rory said that this was better than 2012 and that he was really sharp mentally indeed his statement was true because he won the PGA the next week just if I didn’t

Make any mistakes and took advantage of some of the good shots that I knew that I was hitting um I I had a great chance to win and remained ranked number one continuously for 54 weeks the sixth and seventh time was in August and September 2015 Rory had been ranked number one

Since his intense stretch in 2014 until he got pushed to number two by Jordan spe after the PGA Championship however the youngster took back the number one spot a few weeks later after the bar Clays despite the fact he didn’t participate in the event the next week

Maoy needed to get a position within the top 10 at the deuts bank championship in order to hold the number one spot but he was pushed to rank two with a t29 while Jordan regained rank one despite missing the cut between the BMW and the deuts bank championships there was a week off

And due to the complexities of the owgr Rory somehow went back to rank one after the week off but despite having a T4 at the BMW Championship he was still forced back to number two after Jason day grabbed his third victory in five starts the first of which was the PGA

Championship and after this the Journey Back To The Top would be a long one for him the eighth time was on February 2020 Rory was pushed forward by his victory in 2019 in which he won the FedEx Cup he went back to rank two and by the Year’s

End he was knocking at the world’s top spot only a month into the 2020s he ended Brooks capka Reign that had lasted 38 weeks before the Genesis Invitational and for the first time in half a decade he became the world’s number one the four-time major Champions 53-month Gap

Made a record for the longest time between a player losing and regaining the world’s number one spot Rory held the spot for 11 weeks before he lost it after the 2020 Memorial the ninth time was on October 2022 the CJ Cup this has been a year like like no other feror the

33-year-old wasn’t able to bring a close to his eight-year-long major winning drought coming into the CJ cup he won the FedEx Cup and since the Masters on both the DP and PGA world tours he has had 11 top 10 finishes at the end of the year with the PGA Tour maoy defended his

CJ cup title successfully and took back the world’s number one ranking remember this is despite all the turmoil that occurred in golf this year regarding the live golf Series in which he was the tour’s most vocal Defender still he managed to stay positive and couldn’t have been happier after his win at the

Conger after becoming the world’s number one for the ninth time he said that he had worked very hard over the last 12 months to reach the spot again he also said that he was enjoying the game as much as he ever had after all he’s already shown the world his worth and
