Florida State running backs coach David ‘YAC’ Johnson discusses the additions of Micahi Danzy and Kam Davis.

I enjoy it I think they are really good guys extremely smart kids come from really good families uh these kids especially somebody like Cam and committed to us for so long he actually committed when we were on four he knew what he wanted to do he wanted to come

In and make a difference that’s what I think he’s going to do he’s going to help us get to the next level and obviously Dan a uh he’s a specimen to be that tall can run that fast and extremely tough so you know I I’m really pleased you know I think they’re going

To come in and they’re going to help us from day one you see them as kind of two different types of back playing well off each other just just how do you see their their Styles and the way they run they are two different uh types of back

Because Dan is really long or if you see him looks more like a receiver or DB but he he’s also tough and actually cam can uh actually catch the ball and run Rouse a lot better than people realize but he’s definitely compact he’s definitely

Uh going to be a force to reckon with to try to tackle and he’s ready to go you know that’s one thing I’m enjoying about it but I think we’ll find out exactly what they do well and we’ll put them in those positions to be successful do you

Feel like they’re they’re both guys that can help you early on in their career at Florida State yes that’s the only reason we recruit them we recruit guys who going to help us day one and that could be in a variety of ways you know and I

Think those are day one guys who will come in and be able to help us immediately do you have experience with with other multisport guys and and how much is is do you think cam is looking forward to to doing both Sports here at Florida State well I had a few track

Guys that I uh coached in the past uh I haven’t had any baseball guys but cam is mature he’s been doing this all his life and uh that was another selling point to get him here to make sure he’s able to do those things and actually even like I

Say Dany he’s going to run track so that’s what you want you want those guys involved in different things and the guys who’ve been playing multiple Sports here they’ve been successful what does it say about guys that are able to do multiple Sports have success in it and

Sign and play division one and at both levels guess what does it say about both their physical skill and mental just just their ability to to do both things first obviously you know they have athletic ability but they mentally tough to go from one season to the next season

And not just be on the team but also to kind of really succeed at the sports that they’re doing so that’s what you look at and the toughness of it and different things like that that’s what I enjoy about cam for a lot of the this this class since he’s been committed to

Seemed like a leader and been someone that’s kind of been outspoken and trying to get guys in here just how much of a leader do you see him also being now once he’s getting on campus I think cam is just a natural leader I think he’s

Been showing that from day one uh he’s really mature for his age I think his parents again did a really good job with him uh and I think he’s going to be ready to roll he’s the reason why so many guys kind of jumped in the boat cuz

He was one of the first ones to do it you know so I called him today let him know that you know I congratulate him but let him know that we truly appreciate him and his family everything you just told them tell me um do get more fun every year

Doing this yes it’s always fun uh cuz you never know what to expect you know that’s why you work so hard that’s why you try to build a relationship you try to build because nothing is promis so again when you have kids and you’re excited about the kids that you do have

You know at the end of the day that’s why we do this what do you see ma Mak uh he can do it all I catch the ball at the Back Field he’s extremely long he’s a long Strider uh but he’s tough a tough at running back and he can do a number

Of different things but he’s going to be in the stretch the field Falls and kind of be a guy be a home run hit for you put on film of like Warren and show him like you think this might work yes I definitely put on film and uh show them

How we use LT in different spots in different places and and it’s our job to get you the ball and put you in spots to be successful we just walked in on you talking about Cam Davis but you probably go on and on about him so feel free to

But just how is he he’s built differently up here and like everywhere I mean just how long does it take to realize whether it’s film or talking to him that you got something special oh it didn’t take us long at all you know immedately when you have that first

Conversation with him you see his highlight tape you see how explosive he is you see how powerful he is but once you talk to him in person you get a chance to talk with his parents you know they did a great job of raising and this kid is extremely mature he didn’t let

Anybody waver him uh he was obviously visited different places over his recruiting time but he was locked in he’s been locked in since day one and we appreciate that and I think he’s going to be a guy who’s going to help us day one
