I want to give you a quick rule of thumb now the structure of the thumb particularly the left thumb within the grip is absolutely key so facing you I’ve aimed the club I tip from the hip to build the grip and notice that my left thumb bone is
Parallel to the shaft but to the right of center now if you could do this at the drive range the practice ground or re in the back guard let your left arm hang make sure the left thumb bone is parallel to the Sha renter and ensure that you’re using the
Thumb pad don’t let the thumb stretch and use the joint now the beauty of that is that when the thumb is parallel and in the pad my wrist can only be 90° and I actually hinge correctly if my thumb were diagonal in a strong manner I
Would hinge this way and my swing would be across the line at the top however if my thumb was diagonal and weak I would hinge over the club and the club would be laid off at the top the beauty about the left thumb being parallel is that when you hinge to
90° that hinge in the golf swing is exactly what you want you don’t want to be laid off or laid on we want the hinge to hinge in plain so it’s a critical thing off of the club tip from the hip to build the
Grip I’ll do it for you and I’ll hit you a shot so there is the club I lean forward I now know that if I turn my shoulder under my throat the club has hinged in the correct way so here we go load the shoulder and release the
Shot I’ve hit the ball straight over the umbrella a little bit clean but I didn’t want to take a divot out of the nice apron
