It is time to go over my final WITB for 2023! What, if any, changes were made to any of the spots. There are a couple of minor changes to some of the clubs, but a lot is tried and true. The big question is will any of these clubs stay in the bag for next year?
Hey what’s up everybody welcome back to the club junkie podcast one of the final episodes of 2023 which is crazy to think about that this year is almost over so I got two weeks and that’s it which is absolutely insane so um before we get into today’s episode just want to let
You know this TI this episode is brought to you by Titleist and the prov1 and prov1x golf ball listen to the the golf season maybe winding down in many places but the holiday gift giving season is starting to heat up so whether the golfer on your list are still out
Playing or just stocking up for the next season Titleist golf balls make the perfect gift any golfer would be thrilled to unwrap a dozen Titleist Prov one prov1x prov1 left Dash or AVX golf balls because these aren’t just any golf balls golfers know they’re the very best
Most trusted in the world and they deliver the most performance they need to shoot their lowest scores it’s what makes a number one ball in golf the number one gift in golf as well make the holidays even happier this season learn more about gifting titlist proview prov1x prov1 left Dash and AVX golf
Balls and all things Titleist at titleist.com so looking for a gift I play the prov1x um I should do custom numbers but I don’t but uh if you want to do custom numbers I’m I’m a 56 guy but um I actually did do 56 I did numbers for one
Year I did uh title tp5 or title tailor made tp5 and I ordered I don’t remember how many dozens uh but number is 56 uh was my old high school football number which is you know stupid and cliche but whatever and uh they were actually you
Know it was kind of cool you went and found your ball in the woods and all that it was pretty easy to find you just went up there and 56 off you went so uh anyway hopefully you guys having a great week I know Christmas is days away which
Is insane um hopefully you have most of your Christmas shopping done I uh you know was smart and just married an amazing woman who did all my shopping for me for the most part so that was uh that was pretty helpful um but yeah it’s it’s crazy we have this show next show
And then we’re into the next year so uh 2023 uh Club junkie coming to an end which is kind of crazy so we’ll do more in 2024 and uh and a lot of stuff there so wild week um you know just busy when you’re trying to get holiday stuff done
End of the year stuff done and honestly if you work in the golf business you know this is just an absolute busy time uh we’ve got you know product launch Seasons coming up so I’ve been doing a lot of you guys know I did a lot of
Traveling and uh it’s just been one of those uh you’re trying to get everything ready for launches and they pretty much start beginning of January so beginning of January you guys going to start seeing stuff uh and it’ll go pretty much all month uh that you guys will be
Seeing new equipment from a lot of people so pretty much every uh manufacturer for the most part is going to have something new and uh I’ve been you know helping cover a decent amount of it so I’m I’m excited I can’t wait I I’ve hit some of it some of it I haven’t
Some of it is sitting here in my you know basement uh with me uh but I haven’t hit it yet so I’ve got a lot of range time I need to get U but I’ve got uh but I’ve had a chance to hit a good amount of product as well and yeah
There’s some really good stuff out there uh I’m excited to hit more of it I’m excited to get it on the course uh I’m always excited I always love seeing what is going to be kind of the next thing for golf equipment every year it’s just
Uh it’s just a fun thing and it’s kind of what you you know I’m into which which most of you guys know if you’ve listened to the show basically at all you kind of know I’m just you know I’m an equipment Nerf like a lot of you guys
Are it’s just uh it’s fun to get your hands on this new stuff and hit it and I know there’s naysayers out there it’s not any better than last year’s whatever and you know what the incrementally better every year uh is not meant for the person who bought a club last year
You know if if you’re someone who you know bought last year’s driver any of these companies will tell you they’re are not looking to try to convert you I mean if it happens great but for the most part they are looking to convert people who have drivers that
Are 5 years old 7 years old whatever they’re playing an old RBZ uh those are the people that trying to you know get into a new driver and show some performance gains year to year it’s uh it’s a pretty minimal uh percentage or pretty small percentage in terms of
Improvements so uh this year though we’re I think we’re going to see some cool stuff I think there’s a few good stories out there in terms of uh of woods and irons and stuff like that so we’ll see some cool tech and and and some good stories about that Tech and
Where it came from how it’s utilized all that uh and and I’m excited so today’s episode is going to be kind of my final what’s in the bag what was the end what’s in the bag for for me a lot of this stuff hasn’t changed uh a lot of it
Is pretty much what you guys think there’s a few little changes here and there but then I’m also going to tell you what are the chances that it stays in the bag for next year and what are the chances that it’s gone and I will never say anything’s 100% in the bag cuz
It never is uh there is always potential that there is some new club out there that will be better uh that’ll you know I’ll hit better or whatever so nothing in the bag is 100% safe I think last year I kind of said that there was
Really nothing in the bag that was safe at all that maybe my uh my seven wood I had the pxg Gen 57 wood uh that I said that might hold on that could maybe stay and then that was like almost immediately knocked out uh by the g430
Max 7 wood so it it just depends uh on on what comes out and what you hit what you hit well and uh there’s some stuff here that I’ll tell you there’s I already know there’s at least one club that’s gone already for sure I mean hit
Two uh of those clubs and uh or two different new ones both of them I I think I may like better one for sure I like better I mean so we’ll get into what uh what is going to stay what might go kind of what are the chances uh of
Something coming or going and uh and see where it goes so this year was I want to say probably the least changed what’s in the bag that I’ve ever had uh and and by that I mean I HD a ton of stuff there was always something new in my bag I
Always had something new on the Cor of course uh whether it was just a different shaft whether it was just you know one new wedge you know a whole set of irons whatever I didn’t play I think I played the same set of clubs same 14
Clubs when I went up for my uh guys weekend I played the 14 there so I played that uh basically all through gez so I played five rounds uh or six rounds with uh the same setup and that was the most I’ve played the same 14 clubs and
Shafts in in years uh the last time I went out for the guys weekend two years ago um I I was bring a whole second bag of stuff but I know I switched out uh I think I switched out putter I think I switched out driver um I switched some
Some stuff out at least for one round so this is the first year that I played uh you know the same 14 clubs that many times and I probably played a good majority of those anytime I really needed to play golf like if I I was invited somewhere and someone expected
Me not just to be messing around I pretty much brought uh close to those so that same 14 uh Club setup so it it really was a a year that was different for me that was odd cuz I just I don’t do that kind of stuff so getting into
This year I think uh you know getting into next year in 20124 I think uh we’ll go back to we’ll probably I would think we’ll go back to doing a lot of changing a lot of rotation through the bag uh there’s just a lot of stuff that I want
To go play and I want to go hit and and living in Detroit you just don’t get as much time uh you know that on the coures you’d like so uh you know the more time I can kind of spread it around and hit different clubs the the more I’d rather
Do that but uh but yeah most of the bag is going to be very similar but there are a couple changes so and and either end of the bag there’s a change so that will be uh kind of the interesting part of uh of it uh the middle of the bag
Pretty much stayed the same for the most part but uh but yeah so we’ll start uh with what’s in the back so this is my my club Junkie 20203 three final what’s in the bag and all these clubs are the possibility of not being in there for
2024 so it’s going to be interesting to see see where it goes so I guess we’ll start uh at the top of the bag which is uh you know we’ll start with driver and really this driver head was in all year I finally just actually kind of made the
Switch shaft wise because i’ I’ve been hitting a shaft a lot but the clove that I’ve been hitting the driver-wise the most the kind of the gamer is tsr2 from Titus the Titus tsr2 it’s been as you guys know kind of the club that uh it’s just such a good mix of forgiveness
Distance uh good look good sound good feel uh everything about it there is just uh it screams Titleist uh they always kind of nail the look sound shape feel uh all that part and now they’re really backing it up with gray ball speed good forgiveness and the tsr2 is a
Good combo it’s uh you know something where you look down at it looks like a Players Club uh you know gives you that confidence of like you know I’m I’m a better player than I really am and then when you’re actually swinging it letting you get away with with shots that you
Probably should not have gotten away with uh for the most part so uh very forgiving uh you know little higher launching uh you know touch higher spinning than tsr3 but just a good combo of letting me play my game at basically a 10 handicap maybe just under uh I
Think I’m just over at the moment when I end of the year here in Michigan uh you’re not allowed to post any more rounds here uh in if you’re playing in Michigan if I go travel I can go post rounds but um I haven’t really uh
Haven’t really done that and um and when I have gone and played uh outside uh you know from the travels I’ve had uh we’ve always played kind of a different format or something like that so anyway tsr2 is uh the one kind of well it it was before
I was playing uh a different sha I was playing the fujiura TR blue 6 X or Ventus TR blue 6X and I was just playing in the standard position now you guys know too I use allfit as my adapters so when you look at the hosle adapter uh
The all fit is what I’ve been using which is kind of a universal system so I can take any shaft of my wall in my collection and I can put it in just about any head so uh it’s just got a little driver sleeve uh you replace the
Screw and then the adapter fits in so the tsr2 I’ve been playing it before with the Ventus TR blue from Fuji and just recently kind of switched over to what you know we’re going to call kind of the tiger shaft now which is uh the
Graphite design VF 6 so the brand new VF uh which just came out this year I’m going to actually just do the humble brag thing and say that graphic design was nice enough to send me the shaft kind of before we saw tiger with it uh he probably had it before me probably
Was testing it before me but uh I had it before we saw him at the hero with it uh and before we saw him with the PNC with it I had one as well and uh I was playing at the end of last year with
This or end of the summer uh into fall I was playing with this thing I had it um and honestly it’s it’s my favorite graphic design shaft that they that theyve made uh it’s a little lower launching uh than I I probably in a
Theory need uh so I do move the head up so I’ve got a 10° TSR head and with all fit I turn it up uh one notch which is you know up 75 so just under a degree so it kind of plays like 11 Dee head and uh this is a VF
6X mid low launching very low spin for me and very very consistent very tight while still being really smooth uh I’ve used this in a couple other different heads as well as I’ve been messing around with some of the new heads that uh I can’t talk about but have messed
Around with some of these or the shaft and some other heads as well and and just really liked it um I had it actually at X golf the other day with uh my two brothers-in-law and uh had it with a head that I can’t talk about yet
And hit it really really well on the simulator there which you know I know doesn’t necessarily mean anything um but out in the course uh I’ve been playing this combo a little bit near the end of the year and just really really liked it uh probably the stiffest handle section
Any graphic design shaft that they made uh and probably the lowest spinning for me uh that I’ve hit uh it’s just like I said a great combination of being smooth mid low launching and uh and really low spin I’ve hit this shaft in at least four heads uh driver heads I don’t think
I’ve seen a spin number uh that went over 3,000 and that does happen with other shafts uh especially if I you know hit something a little bit right flare It Whatever uh you’ll see some you know slightly higher spin numbers from from me uh and I’m a guy who lives around
That like 2600 RPM range uh and I’m routinely a couple hundred rpm lower uh with this uh shaft so for me been very low spin uh but very consistent very very straight and uh I’ve hit a lot of Fairways with it and I’ve I’ve really
Liked it so uh the TR blue has been phenomenal I’d have no problem putting that back in uh the the launch on that and everything is it it’s in you know is great but uh yeah the bf6 right now has just kind of been in the bag and I’ve
Been really really confident with it and I like the way it plays and I’ve been uh I’ve been hitting it uh pretty solid for the past geez I mean couple months uh that I’ve had it I’ve probably had it two months uh or something like that so
A really solid shaft I really like it I know people are gonna say oh you’re just copying Tiger but I I may have had it I had it before the tiger hype let’s put it that way um I had before the tiger hype um he just may have had it before
Me but we didn’t see it in his hands so the black and red combo looks pretty cool too you know the gloss black kind of matches the TSR uh two head and uh just yeah been a really good Fairway finder uh and and just you know something that I feel comfortable with
Uh whether it’s a tight hole whether it’s wide open anything like that I I just feel kind of confident with it that I can uh that I can hit the Fairway and and and hit a decent drive so this has been uh kind of the gamer at the end of
The year I know a lot of people were probably expecting to see the TR blue in here but uh yeah just switched it out kind of at the end of the year now um so this going into next year chances of survival uh decent uh you know I would
Say it’s definitely not uh safe I’ve hit some other drivers that I do like uh and that have performed well so this one is definitely going to get a challenge uh there’s some good drivers coming out I haven’t them all yet there’s still uh a
Couple that I need to uh need to hit and it’s going to be kind of a head-to-head to battle so chances of this one staying in the bag um are are like I said are decent um I would say it’s kind of a 50/50 shot uh does it stay in the bag is
Something new knock it out there’s definitely a chance uh you know as I said out of the out of like what the four new drivers uh that’ll be out uh between ping Taylor Made Callaway uh and pxg and some others um well those four that I know for sure I’ve hit two of
Them uh or two series and so far really liked what I’ve seen so um it’s going to be close I’m I’m going to give it a 50-50 shot uh there’s a chance that this thing stays I I mean I don’t think this is going to get passed up I think still
Going to hang with all the new stuff as well uh but there’s a legit chance that uh that it goes away and then shaft wise it’s all going to depend um I got I did a fitting into one of the new drivers uh just recently in the past couple weeks
And got fit into a shaft that I’ve never really had a whole lot of success with uh and then took it out on the course and hit it well so you know who knows but I think the VF the vent TR blue something like that will probably always
Be hanging around lurking um I know you know I messed with that Mitsubishi tensei 1K Pro blue and some others I really like um a handful of shafts uh and I’ve got a few more coming uh in the future as well which is pretty nice I’ve
Got uh a couple shafts that are that are on their way now uh and then I think there may be one or two in the future you know in next year that that I’ll be testing as well so that combo I give it a 50-50 shot of staying in the bag I I
Think even if it gets technically knocked out uh for something new next year I think it still has a chance I mean it’s still going to be in the rotation you know of taking it out and hitting it and playing it uh because it is just just th really that good so was
A great driver this year um honestly it’s probably one of the better driving years that I’ve had uh in a little while uh you know and and I’ve played some decent golf this year it started off a little slow near the end of the year uh
Definitely picked it up and and played a little better even though my scores didn’t really show it um for the most part it was wedges and and stuff like that that kind of kept me down uh from from scoring well uh but I drove it well
Hit it off the tea well uh it was just you know some of the stuff around the green that wasn’t quite as good but that setup was really solid and uh yeah I’m excited to get some of the new stuff on the course toh see if it beat beats the
Uh the old trusty tsr2 out so uh that one there legit chance we we’ll keep it at that um and unfortunately I can’t talk about what I’ve hit what I haven’t hit uh and what’s been good but you know there’s stuff creeping up on it which will be uh very very
Interesting so moving down the bag the three-wood that uh I’ve been playing all year uh and still kind of uh been uh still big fan of the Callaway Paradigm Triple Diamond so the triple diamond 15° uh with a fujiura speeder NX blue 70x uh this was kind of my gamer all
Year and uh hit it off the te phenomenal uh could hit it off the deck pretty well I wouldn’t say it was the most amazing off the deck but uh just I I like the shape I like the sound feel I I thought the ball speed was really good on it
Even miss hits and for being a triple diamond uh which is typically the more demanding you know more compact more demanding head uh really had some forgiveness to it I felt like you could you know kind of hit it a little bit on the you know a little B bit all over the
Face and still get away with some good shots and uh just an overall I think kind of underrated head uh when it came to 3-woods and and again I like the shape I like what Callaway did with this thing this year uh you know it’s compact
But it’s still not super super tiny when you set it down like there’s still some Club there uh that lets you know you can get away with uh you know get away with some some poor swings uh and then the speeder NX blue uh has actually been a
Shaft that I pulled out of a tailor made 3-wood previously before this one um and it was in a Sim 2 max yanked it out of there and put it in here and it been a huge huge fan so this has been in the bag all year um and honestly the funny thing
Is the kind of second place something that actually started kind of creeping up on it near the very end of the year was the stealth 2 plus uh the one with the big sliding weight in the back uh with a Ventus red 7x and I played that a
Lot at the end of the year and honestly they they were becoming very very close I’ll give the edge to the Paradigm I think the stealth I hit a little bit better off the deck this I hit a little bit better off the T so I I’ll give the
Nod to uh the Paradigm Triple Diamond but that stealth 2 plus uh was coming on pretty strong at the end of the year I wish I would have built that setup earlier in the year I think it would have been a great great battle uh
Between the two so uh 3ws for me have been tough uh you know as you guys if you followed along at all you know I had an xr16 back in 2016 that I kept for like 3 years absolutely loved it it was kind of like the the crutch of my bag
And then I got rid of it to go to something new and this is kind of the first three-wood that I’ve kind of felt really comfortable with uh out on the course I think everything else it was you know I I kind of felt good for a
Little bit or I’d hit some certain shots that were good but other ones I couldn’t um this was one of the first ones I felt comfortable being able to hit it off the deck hit it off the te and doing both doing off the te phenomenal and do
Hitting off the deck reasonably well so everything else that’s where the struggle was uh and if I found something that I hit off the deck really well then I struggled off the te with it so um typically if I hit it off the deck
Really well and it got up in the air and it was easy to hit when I got at the te it would be kind of a high spinning short shot wouldn’t go anywhere so this is a great combo between the two and I’ve really uh been a big fan of this
Head and everything about this club um and then uh but going into next year it’s gone um it’ll be gone it’s uh I I’ve hit two uh well I’ve hit I’ve hit a couple Fairways and let’s just put one of them already one of them will already
Go in the bag over this uh it’ll be kind of a a really battle to see um which one of these new ones and then there’s some new stuff that I haven’t hit yet uh that I still want to hit uh but there is already a 3-wood that I would put in the
Bag over this right now uh a little different shaft than it uh than I have uh but I got fit into it and played what did I play with it I played 27 holes with it and uh so far um I I would put that in the bag over this
Right now so I can’t talk about it yet we’ll talk about that that club next year but there is that and then there are a uh another 3-wood that I was hitting on the Range that I really like I was hitting it way better uh than I
Thought I would and I can’t wait to get it out of the course and try it out there but I was really kind of comfortable with it right out of the gate on the Range so um right now one for sure ahead maybe two and I still
Have a couple to hit so this bad boys unfortunately gone uh it will it will leave the bag uh after this year uh when uh we get into next year it uh it probably won’t be in the rotation um you know there’ll just be other things in
There but uh this guy will unfortunately uh it had its a year in the Sun and and that’s going to be it so uh just you know for me that’s the thing was is versatility with a three-wood hit can you hit it off the deck and I hit it off
The T and can I do do both reasonably well and right now there’s already a three with that I do both of those those things better with so this guy was great Triple Diamond I really enjoyed it and uh I think C made a great great 3-wood
There I mean if it’s something where you’re looking for a compact 3-wood that looks great and does kind of a little bit of everything does it all well I’d say take a look at that triple diamond and it’s definitely more forgiving than you think uh it’s definitely not uh you
Know you know scratch handicaps or under you know that type of Club you can be like me and still still play that thing with with no problem but unfortunately you know there’s just other things out there which is a bummer so the next one we’ll go to is the old
Seven wood so the seven wood you guys know I put in a couple years ago I started doing a seven wood and again I had a a pxg Gen 5 seven wood that was kind of custom built for me set flat lower had some heavier weights you know
A little bit shorter and then uh I hit and that was a great gamer I loved it and then the Ping g430 Max came along and that was kind of the end of that uh the pxg uh just uh kind of unfortunately got beat out by the G30 and the G30 Max
Is just one of those that off the deck it is it’s for me it’s almost automatic uh it goes high in the air uh it goes a good ways it’s very straight very forgiving good ball speed across the face um just everything about what you
Think a G4 g430 Max is which is very forgiving that’s what it does uh and again launches super high uh and then teeing it up it’s pretty good uh cuz I do tee this thing up on some some short par fours on my uh my home course uh
Where I play my league and stuff and now I you do have to take a little bit more care uh in that those shots because it is such a shallow face um but I tell you what if you kind of deloft it a little bit and hit some shots you can get it
Out there pretty good uh I’ve hit some pretty long drives off the tea that that even I was shocked at kind of how far they went but uh just a really great head easy to get in the the air and super easy to hit off the deck uh if
It’s sitting in the Fairway and you know for me you’ve got 210 uh into the green like this thing is going to H like this is what you’re pulling and and I’m feeling pretty confident I’m going to be able to get it on the green and then
This one here uh it had just like the Ping two or you know two or 2.0 shaft in it the Chrome one uh and this one now has a Ventus TR blue 8 stiff uh that I tipped uh like an extra half inch over whatever the seven wood uh uh normal
Tipping was uh installed it there and it is cut down a little bit I can’t remember the exact length uh but it is just a little bit shorter uh than a stock seven would so the ti blue in here has been great you know kind of that mid
To maybe even a hair mid low launching uh uh shaft into this seven wood head I think that combination being kind of a low spin shaft High launch head just made it really really you know long for what it is consistent and and really accurate I mean all these TRS with the
Vooc core are just easy to hit and they just want to go straight and this is what this thing set up for so I’ve been really enjoying it and I found at the near the end of the year much more comfortable hitting it off the te which
Is where I kind of struggled with it when I first put in the bag just because of the shallow face the pxg is just a much much deeper face when you set them down next to each other so that off the tea uh was was was a little bit kind of
More comfortable uh but now that I’ve done this more by the end of the year with this I I I was pretty comfortable hitting this thing off the te just teeing it down kind of low uh and if I could kind of delock it as I hit it and
You know maybe had a little spin but hitting a little lower shot out there that that ranged a little bit further so really a great club uh this one I actually have Set uh it’s a 21 Dee head for the 7even wood I have it set down
One in flat so it is uh 20° and flat and uh it doesn’t go left uh when you set it up you set it down it pretty much sets up pretty neutral uh it doesn’t set up shut or anything like that and you know the shape is just a little bit
Triangulated uh near the back it’s just got a little bit of pointiness to it uh but I don’t really mind I’ve kind of gotten you know it’s not a big deal I don’t really notice it and uh it’s uh just been a really really solid 3-wood
And just something that uh I I think has helped my game a lot I think this is uh you know going into greens it’s for me better than a hybrid uh off the T I’ve gotten to the point where I’m comfortable enough to hit it off the t
Uh as well as I was probably hitting hybrid off the te so um I might get a little more roll with a hybrid but the overall distance is probably negligible on how far this goes compared to that so really really good uh really solid and uh I’ve liked it so chances this staying
In the bag um I would say better than good uh I’ve got another SE seven one in my hands uh in my basement already um that I’ve hit that I’ve played a little bit with uh I’ve got another one that will be on the way uh that that will be
Coming uh so I’ll have a couple to try it’s not one of those that I’m actively looking to remove this uh by any means but if something’s better it’s better I just don’t know what will be so I’m I I got to hit a couple of these new ones uh
See where they kind of come from see what they do uh but I I think there’s a better chance that this stays in the bag than you know like three-wood which is already out uh this has a little chance to stay there um I did mess around with
A couple hybrids uh through this new uh year as I’ve bet out these launch events and being able to hit stuff on the Range and stuff and I’ve hit some of the hybrids and I tell you what some of those hybrids definitely go a little bit
Higher now uh than than some of the old ones so they kind of compete a little bit in the same arena with the seven wood but uh I think I’ll probably keep the seven wood in the bag uh instead of the hybrid and yeah I I think this has
Probably got uh you know out of a lot of things is probably got one of the better chances of of staying in the bag it’s just it’s a good setup I’ve built it up to to where I like it and uh you know with this like 80 g t you know vent’s
Blue TR just a a really kind of nice setup and and I’ve hit it well so is it 100% safe no uh is it safer than a lot of other things I I I’ll say yes and I just don’t because I just don’t know if I’ll find something better but uh I you
Know those are are famous last words because I said that a couple years ago and this knocked out the Gen 5 in you know a relatively quick time so got a few seven Woods we’ll try them out against this we’ll hit them we’ll kind of see what the differences are but uh I
I think this thing’s somewhat safe but is of course not 100 so uh this one may be the one that you see back in the bag for uh for 2024 then we get into irons and this one’s going to be interesting so the irons as you probably know long irons my
Four and five well so I guess four iron would be the big would be a change uh so four rer started off the year ping ey crossover absolutely loved it I I didn’t like the look I didn’t like the sound and feel but it performed great uh off
The deck it would launch high that face would was hot it would go a long way and it just added a little Firepower to the the top end of the bag I really liked it um when I got fit into my titlist irons uh I got the four iron I didn’t think
I’d ever used it I pretty much figured this would just sit in the back you down here in the basement and I just used the Ping ey crossover uh but after a little while I uh decided to you know give this thing a shot and put it in the bag and
The four iron is now the Ping T200 so the one that matches my set so the T200 uh these are the brand new t200s I’ve got this the four and the iron in the 200 uh and then the rest of the set in the t150 but 404 iron uh where that ping
Was really really good at doing a lot this is I think just as good and it looks sounds and feels better uh I can hit it off the deck I can hit it off the te uh it it looks good when you set it down it feels good it sounds good uh it
It does pretty much everything now the Ping may be a touch longer uh when you know when you go head-to-head it may have a couple you know yards on this um but nothing that’s wildly wildly different uh the Ping may actually also launch just a hair higher um than the
400 or than the T200 but I tell you what this 400 I hit really well and even if it’s maybe a couple yards shorter and just a hair lower launch uh I will take that for the sound and feel upgrade that this thing has and the looks uh just
Less offset uh you know better sound better feel now it’s got the steel fiber 110 which matches my iron set um I’ve been debating do I put something lighter in like a a 95 or like a Ventus you know HB blue or or something like that that
Could still happen this you know this year but right now it’s going to stay the way it is uh I’ve hit it really well the P you know the end of the year here and uh it’s something that I didn’t expect it kind of ever put in play uh I
Figured it would be one of those things when uh when the t-50s leave my possession this would be like the brand new club uh still on the plastic but uh but it’s earned its way back in and uh and and and really I like you know
Hitting it off the tea a lot it really is just a it’s a kind of a cannon off the tea it’s got a good amount of ball speed M hits are aren’t aren’t penalized a ton so uh you know I will say this to forgiveness between the eye crossover
And this uh I’ll give the Forgiveness side to the T200 a little bit I think it definitely stays the ball stays in play really really well and distance loss on on Miss hits isn’t anything crazy uh the Ping may be a hair better at that but um again this thing does pretty much
Everything I want it to do looks good sounds good feels good so the T200 goes in the bag and uh and I don’t uh don’t feel bad about it so will this uh what are the chances this stays in the bag I think it stays with the iron Set uh I
Don’t think there’s you know if the irons change then maybe this goes uh but I don’t think right now there’s another utility a crossover coming out that I think has a chance um I haven’t seen any uh that that will really battle this thing out uh in the four iron so um I
Think yeah the this you know as long as the iron stay I think this thing stays uh and then also if I move on to another set of irons uh I don’t know we’ll see that will be the interesting one because it’ll depend on the four iron in that
Set uh and I’ve also I’ve messed with the you know little four iron hybrid and stuff here and there as well so I’ve kind of got one of those that I’m messing with that I haven’t done in a few years uh so there could be a chance
That there’s no for iron but right now I think this is pretty safe as the for in the bag I don’t think I’m going to be going back to the crossover uh anytime really soon and myther I mean I really like the Cobra the king utility that was
A great one as well but I tend to be a little more consistent with this so uh T200 long irons uh staying and then as I said with the rest of the irons t-50s which I know this is zero surprise to anyone but t-50s uh with the steel fiber
110s and these have just been just really good irons they’re they’re the perfect cheater iron as I call it where a guy like me who wants to look at a player Club I would love to play uh you know a CB type you know blades type
Looking Club from a dress I don’t have that game I need some help and I need a little bit of speed uh and height these do that so the 150s have a little bit of power to them uh with a slot in the back a little thinner face they’ve got a
Little deeper cavity than the standard t100’s so they’ve got a little bit more forgiveness uh launch is just a little bit higher than the t100’s as well and then uh you know the turf interaction is really solid with this kind of redesign Souls so they do a whole lot of things
Really well um I I I’ve just played a lot of really good golf with these irons and I don’t you know I I don’t there’s not too many negatives uh to be honest I mean you know I guess if you don’t need the speed if you’re somebody who’s got a
Whole lot of power uh then you don’t need the speed that’s that’s fine but for me especially in the little longer irons uh I’ll take a little added distance out of these and definitely get them uh but the control is still there you can still hit you know if you want
To work the ball still have that ability and when you aren’t swinging well and you kind of miss it all over the face a little bit uh you still get some of that forgiveness you’re still able to hit the greens uh know maybe not put it next to
The hole but you’re still able to usually hit the green and uh and get a ball that’s at least you know playable instead of being dumped into a bunker or dumped into a weird spot uh from coming up too short so five six through pitch t-50s uh chance of these leaving uh
Right now I think I think they’re fairly safe uh I’ve seen some of the new irons that are coming out I don’t know if any of them will beat these uh in terms of true true Gamers they’re all going to get kind of in the rotation I’ve got
Another you know a set like my 0317 T’s from pxg that I’m going to reshaft uh up and uh I’ve got the Callaway um you know triple play uh irons I’ve got the p770 is so I’ve got I’ve got a handful of irons I think these things are pretty
Safe at the moment but you never know there’s always something out there that that could Step Up um I’ve got the Vaga misar tours that I need need to put some shafts in so there there’s some irons there that that that have uh uh have a
Chance but I think for right now with with what is probably coming out uh you know in the immediate future I think these things are pretty safe and they’ll probably stay in the bag uh am I crazy confident no but I would say these again
Kind of a little bit like the S one I think this have like kind of like an 80% chance of staying in the bag they’re just they’re just that good I don’t see what would beat them at the moment and I don’t see anything coming down the pipe
Line uh that that are going to beat them out so they will probably stay and then in second place honestly are those 0317 TS from pxg uh in terms of second place those are kind of the the irons there and then probably the Callaway triple plays I mean they’re
Just those two sets of irons are really good but uh you know right now I’m just uh I’m liking the t-50s and I’m just hitting them a little bit better so uh again got some new shafts coming for the pxg so that could help those and give
Them a little uh a little boost uh in the ratings and then there’s again a couple of sets of irons that are pretty interesting um I just don’t think they’ll beat it there’s a couple sets that uh I love the absolute look but they’re more true CB true blade is uh
And I know I’m just probably not going to have the game to play those on a bad day so those are probably uh you know the t-50s will probably stay in the bag uh with the T200 long irons probably for part of next year I
Just uh I just don’t don’t see him going so we’ll see but we’ll see you know I’m I’m never going to guarantee it it’s not going to be guaranteed that they’re going to stay but there’s a good chance that those uh that those stay through next year in a rotation of many other
Irons so then we get into wedges and wedges are kind of a mixed mask you know they’re just a hodg podge of of stuff at the moment uh so gap wedge is the Cleveland RTX 6 zip core uh this has been a great 50° it really uh plays
Really well uh I like the feel of it I think it’s a little bit softer than the previous RTX um good spin uh full shots are soled this is basically the the 10° balce mid uh Soul just really solid 50° uh you know I hit a lot of full shots to
Maybe like 3/4 shots uh so basically full shots are about 110 uh and then I I’ll hit this down to 100 yards maybe just a hair less depending on the shot uh and then you know move into the 56 but this is played for mostly full shot I I do chip with it
A little bit uh not as much as I probably should I probably should chip with this thing a little bit more but just a a really solid wedge and Spins really well out of the rough spins out of the well out of the off a fairway lie
Pretty versatile um you know the only thing that that I’m I’m not comfortable and it’s more me uh than it is the club uh is going to be you know B long bunker shots of the 50 it’s just not that’s not my my shot um but just a really good
Wedge that like I said I like the spin on uh and if you do use it around the green hit little chip pit shots you got to fly it pretty much to the hole of it’s a tight lie cuz it is going to check up fairly hard uh but it it’s
Pretty predictable and it’s it’s pretty uh manageable when you know what it’s going to do so uh the zip core grooves I found from from Cleveland have always been some of the higher spinning and uh they they definitely grab the ball quite a bit uh the whole you know zip core
Technology where they kind of move some of the weight internally from the hosle and stuff uh it’s just a really easy wedge to swing and hit so from Full shots down to you know partial shots in Greens to little you know chip and pit shots
Around the green um this is used kind of a little bit everywhere but just a really good 50 and I and I put in the bag when I’ve you know a lot of times when I travel I’ll mix things up I’ll take you know if I’m going to see one
What you know some company I’ll bring mostly their stuff uh but Gap wiges I don’t have a ton of them so this one tends to make uh make a good amount of trips uh around and uh it’s been uh it’s been really good the shaping’s good on
It it’s got a pretty straight you know Leading Edge just a touch of roundness to it and just a touch of offset as well uh the color is kind of a brushed Chrome or or kind of satin Chrome uh and that thing looks pretty good so just confidence inspiring when you stand over
It and uh and really good spin so chance of this staying in the bag probably not great I’ve been a few uh of some new wedges uh that’ll be coming out next year and uh there’s a lot of good ones out there and there’s you know a couple that will be out uh
One of them is already out the the tailor mate mg4 um which I really like I just don’t have the 50° uh there’s another set of wedges coming out in a little bit uh that I can’t talk about yet that I’ve hit those so the chance of
This being in the bag come next year are probably a little bit slim I just think I’ll probably go with something that matches up to sand and lob uh or at least matches a little bit but this will probably go um as much as I really do
Like it I think it plays really well I’m not knocking the wedge any way um from when it comes to my 50 which is probably the least used wedge out of the three um you know like I said I’ll probably match it up to one of the other wedges uh in
In in in my bag so this been really good uh I’ve really loved it but it’s probably it’s probably got an 80% chance of leaving there there’s probably a 20% chance of it staying and that would just be getting the other you know Gap wedges on the course and finding that I just
Don’t hit them as well which I I I doubt that will happen um for the shots I hit I just don’t see it but who knows but this is probably got a fairly good chance of uh of leaving the bag unfortunately so uh but a great set uh
If you really like wedges that spin a lot the RTX 6 zip cores are are really really solid and they really do uh you know spin From the Rough from the the from a tight lie when it’s wet you name it they they they spin really really
Well then you move into the The Sand Wedge and this one was kind of actually a surprise to me uh when I when I put this in uh which is is the Muno t24 uh the t24 56s grind uh with 12 de of Bounce and when I put this in I wasn’t
Really like it was kind of one of those things I just you know I was hitting just to like you know review it for the show and I took it out and I hit it pretty well uh that first time out and then I took it out again and I hit it
Pretty well and I took it out again and I hit it pretty well so it kind of earned its spot in the bag and uh it’s one of those a really underrated wedge very soft as you’d expect from Mauna very good feel uh and honestly they actually spin better than I thought this
Is again a little bit like the Cleveland if it’s a tight lie you better kind of fly it a good good amount of the way to the Hole uh because it’s is not going to have a ton of release uh the S grind is kind of like I wouldn’t call it a DG
Grind uh from vogi but I would say it’s a little bit closer to that uh the bounce is pushed back just a little bit farther on the sole I feel like but it’s still got a little bit of trailing Edge relief uh so you could go ahead and and
Open it up a little bit you’re not going to be able to W like open It Wide Open to to play some crazy flop shot with a 56 uh without the Leading Edge coming up a little bit but it it it is pretty versatile and you can play a lot of
Shots with it and then out of the bunker it definitely has a good amount of float uh you know as you open the face up that sole just kind of extends down and it flows through the sand especially lighter sand really really well um but a
Really solid wedge I think uh the Muno wedges are super underrated I think the people who do hit them realize what they do and realize how good they feel and and a lot of people will put them in play but most people kind of pass them
Up by in the rack and I think you’re kind of doing yourself a little bit of a disservice without drawing them so um you know their faces again spin a really good amount uh you know in the rough do they spin as much as the the Cleveland
Maybe not quite as much but out of a tight lie uh they check up pretty darn hard I really like the shape Mauna is a little bit more rounded uh a little bit softer lines on it and that fits my eye pretty well um you know minimal offset
Uh just a touch and again Leading Edge pretty darn straight just a touch of radius to it just a little uh you know roundness but very very little and uh again kind of just a really traditional wedge the satin Chrome looks nice there’s no glare from it um and uh you
Know just a wedge that plays really well so chances of staying in the bag again very very very high chances this goes away um was hitting you know another wedge on a range and while I haven’t got it into like full-blown course mode um you know hitting it on the Range and
Hitting some shots and hitting some shots in a short game area probably this will will probably go away um there’s a couple wedges that I’ve hit one I have coming one that’s kind of already out and you know we’ll see where this goes I just don’t see where this thing stays in
The bag unfortunately um and I have nothing against it I would you know I I would have no problem probably playing like you know a set of of t4s uh but again just kind of matching it up to other wedges and stuff like that this one probably will leave but I really do
Like it and honestly it’ll probably go in my rack with my other wedges and uh it’ll probably uh go in the rotation and and still see some time cuz it hasn’t seen it enough yet where it’s really worn the face or grooves but uh just a such a soft feeling wedge that it’s
Tough to just just toss it out so but but realistically uh it probably won’t be in the starting rotation come next year then lob wedge we’re going with that we end of the year with mg4 from tailor made in the Tiger Woods grind so mg4 Tiger Woods grind uh 60° with 11
Degrees of Bounce kind of the multi cambered soulle on there it’s got a pre-worn Leading Edge a little bit of trailing Edge relief uh a little bit wider Soul though when you open it up uh so it’s not uh super super narrow and uh it’s just a wedge that for whatever
Reason I don’t necessarily get along as well with the 56 the sole on this it just kind of Glides through the turf the turf interaction is really good with it it’s really fast um if you’re super steep with it in really soft conditions you might get a little
Bit of dig uh but you know if it’s slightly firmer around the greens or anything like that that pre pre-worn Leading Edge lets you kind of just get that thing into the turf let it Glide across pick the ball up and uh and get
It up on up and onto the green so the raw face spins really well it’s really rough it’s got of almost sandpaper feeling is yeah that wears down a little bit in the areas where you hit it but uh it just tends to be pretty versatile now
Again opening it crazy wide open and hitting a flop shot uh the Leading Edge does come up a little bit and I know Tiger’s got the skill to kind of still hit that shot um I don’t as much but I don’t open it up that heavy I open it up
A little bit uh maybe open it up heavier up in a bunker if it’s short-sided uh but just been a really versatile and high spin wedge I really like this 60 um and played it basically since it came came out as soon as I tried it I I
Really liked it and it kind of stayed in the bag so uh it’s been there ever since chances of staying in the bag decent I I think this is decent this is you know the 60 I don’t mind having a l wedge that’s a little different heck I don’t
Mind having three wedges that are all different and uh I’ve lik the way this is played so I’ve hit some other 60s I’ve hit some stuff that uh that I do like um but I think this has just as big a chance of staying in the bag as
Anything new does having knocking it out so uh this has definitely got a chance of staying in the bag um I would say this is kind of that 50/50 ball they’re maybe something new uh that might knocks it out it may knock out you know keep
The the new thing at Bay so I think this is definitely something that uh is just going to be a chance thing you know it’s just going to depend uh on how something new plays and and getting him on the course in the short game area side by
Side so still a good chance that the mg4 Tiger Woods uh stays in the bag so which I don’t mind I I like the wedge a lot so um we’ll see see how it goes and then putter I know I talk about this putter way too much or I did talk
About this putter way too much but it is the tailor made spider X Proto uh with the mil face and uh I basically went through and put a brand new shaft in it so it’s got a KBS GPS graphite shaft uh GPS 120 and I put it around in my
Basement with it a lot uh when it came out I liked it uh and then finally took it out to an actual putting green took it out with me uh when I traveled a little bit and I honestly really like it uh I I think I like it a little bit more
Than the bardy even though the betard was kind of my my go-to gamer you know that this is kind of taken over and and for the same reasons I’ve talked about it before I kind of like that it’s got a little longer sight line it’s an unbroken sight line the true path
Alignment is really good on it um but when you swing this it still kind of swings like a mallet it’s got a little tow hang it’s got a forward CG to it so while it doesn’t feel exactly like the the bardy BBW it still has some of those
Kind of properties through the swing where it does want to you know rotate and shut a little faster uh than a typical Mallet um and you do get a little bit more forgiveness out of it I mean it’s not a ton it’s a little more forgiving than than a blade uh when it
Comes to Mallet it’s probably a little less forgiving than a lot of high Moi mallets uh but it’s a good in between uh and then honestly uh from putting in the new shaft uh and hitting you know gulp the sound and feel is really solid uh
It’s got just a touch of click to it it’s pretty muted it’s not a high pitch click uh even though it’s a pretty shallow Mill uh you still get a pretty soft feel on it especially like a tp5 or something like that it’s definitely got a pretty soft feel the prov1x you’re
Going to hear a little bit more of that audible click um but overall it’s just been a putter that um I feel like just a little bit more confidence with uh I feel like those kind of Inbetweeners those like uh you know 8ft putts and
Stuff like that uh I feel like I get them on line line maybe a little bit better with this than I did with the BET nardy um now the super short putts the BET nardy was almost automatic it was just really good this is pretty darn good intermediate putts I think are more
Solid with this and then you know the lag putts are just kind of the lag putts but I think I I I get the starting line uh more consistently online with this than I do the bardy for those longer lag putts and it’s just a really good Putter
And I know it’s kind of you know cliche that it’s you know a prototype and all this stuff but uh it’s just been really good in the and the honestly the the KBS tour GPS uh just softens it up a touch I I feel like it does play a little bit
Different uh the stiffer uh shaft in here compared to the standard stock steel uh I like the feel of that I I feel like it adds a little bit of stability it kind of gives you that face awareness of that you know where the putter is throughout the whole swing uh
It doesn’t have that kind of flimsier feel of stock steel where you can kind of feel the the head W you know move a little bit or kind of oscillate in the swing uh it just kind of gives it that stiffness that tightness and you know reduces just a touch of vibration which
Again just a little bit softer uh and then it’s got a a lampin deep etch on there uh and this thing’s been really good I I really liked it it’s uh I could probably bend it just a hair flat I wouldn’t mind maybe going just like one
Degree it may be a touch-up right but so far I’ve puted really well with it uh and I’ve really liked the sound and feel so right now uh I think I would put this in the bag uh if I had to play um you know kind of a match against somebody
You know something for for money or whatever I I would probably put this in the bag and uh I feel like you know just putting wise I I’m just a little bit more consistent I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily better uh than the bardy with this uh but I think I’m just a
Little bit more consistent I think I get the starting lines just a little bit better uh now speed is still you know you got to get the speed right but uh I feel like there’s just a few things that I’ve done really well with this uh just
Slightly better uh than the bardy the bardy I think is still going to make the rotation uh I know there’s some new BBS out I haven’t uh uh seen them uh in hand or anything like that uh but I have seen there’s new ones out but we’ll see the
Bardy that was kind of my gamer for for a year or so and I made some you know made some putts with it and it was a really solid butter uh but I think uh you know moving on to something like you know a little bit of a mallet with some
Tow hang is definitely uh you know definitely something that I that I wanted to do and uh and it’s worthed out really well so I really like this putter chances of it staying uh man I think this is again one of those I I want to call it a 50-50 ball but it’s
Probably less than that uh there’s probably a good chance that something else knocks it out I still want to get a little bit more time uh with the AI the the AI mail number eight that I have um I just got another uh you know a pxg
Blade putter uh a Brandon that has a plumber’s neck uh and then I’ve got another putter coming uh that uh I I don’t have yet that I can’t talk about we’ll talk about that you know talk about it next year so um there’s some stuff on the horizon uh there’s a couple
Putters again for next year that I’ve got actually sitting over here that I forgot about that I’ve got a roll so is there a chance this this stays in the bag yes I would actually like it to stay in the bag I like it is there a chance
That it leaves yeah they definitely is so um I think this one’s a again I’ll call it a 50/50 ball uh but I think it’s probably 40% it stays 60% it goes just with my putting it it tends to be so streaky that something will jump in
There and you know take its spot for a little while then it may make it back and go um but I think there’s just with a bunch of Putters coming out there’s probably just a too good of a chance that I’ll probably leave it for something else so um its brother the
Spider V is still in my rotation over there I really like that putter a lot um so it’s going to be interesting to see if this one stays but but I really do like it and I and I think it’s a a really solid Putter and I know it’s kind
Of cliche because it’s Proto but I I’ve been a big fan so we’ll we’ll see if it stays um but but but I wouldn’t I wouldn’t guarantee it uh by any means so that is uh Putter and and then uh yeah bag I don’t know yet I’ve got a a couple
Bags I mean the end of the year bag was of course my uh my Callaway Fairway plus uh because it works so well with my Moto caddy this year I’ve now got the pins and Asis player bag I’ve got the super stroke Pantheon uh hybrid I’ve got now a
Pxg Darkness bag hybrid bag it’s a little bigger so I’ve got a couple bags here uh to to mess around with that uh that I don’t know one of those will probably be the gamer I’ll probably move on uh to something new uh this year uh
As much as I I don’t know I’m leaning towards the super stroke right now I like the size uh I like the way the legs kind of go into the little sheath uh when you’re not using them so for the the Moto CAD it’ll be really good but uh
That one will be interesting to see where that goes cuz I don’t really know bag wise kind of where I’ll end up so we’ll see but that is uh kind of the what’s in the bag that is uh 2023 what’s in the bag and again nothing has
Nothing’s safe nothing has uh you know pure community so anything could go at any time uh and it’s going to be exciting to hit some other stuff against it and see what stays and what goes so that’s all I’ve got today I know this episode kind of ran on kind of got long
But uh that’s just the way it goes I guess uh so if you’re not following me on Instagram please do Club junkie pod I’m going to try to do a Q&A today I didn’t do it uh Wednesday when I’m recording this I didn’t do it Wednesday

For 4i, u could try nippon gost. Loving that combo for my 4i t200. I too have 4/5 t200 and 150 for the rest. But the lighter shaft makes it more versatile as a driving iron and easier launch with more ballspeed
Have you ever tried TSR3 3 wood? After playing Callaway Rouge ST Max all this year with its slight draw bias it wasn't best for me. My natural shot shape is a draw so between both i was over drawing it like crazy. 9/10 shots were going too far left, especially off the tee. A few months ago i was custom fit at 2ndSwing DE for TSR3 driver (was custom fit for the 2 last Dec.) and so i was eager and excited to try out the TSR3 3 wood. Its sits perfect with the pear shaped head similar to the TSR3 driver. flatter sole compared to the TSR2 fairway. Trackman #'s were great. Fell in love with it and custom ordered a 3 & 5 wood, both – 1/2 inch, sole weight in the T2 position with Tensei AV blue 65 S shaft with Winn Oversize Dri-Tac LT grips. D2 SW in 3W and D2.5 SW in 5W. I wound up getting the TSR3 4H also at -1/2 inch D2.5 SW. Merry Christmas
Dear T24 wedges: we will not be proceeding with your application and we wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors.
Driver head “I can’t talk about” = Taylormade Qi10
I was wondering, what is the point of manufacturers releasing this equipment early to golf content creators if they aren’t able to talk about it? I mean you can’t do reviews on it and publish or anything so what’s the point?
