Golfers welcome back to the channnel in today’s video we’re going to talk about three reasons why you struggle to hit your iron shots and also three ideas and tips to implement within your practice to try and eradicate a certain situation that you’ve got yourself in it’s play in
Your iron play so reason number one why you struggle with iron play is the ball position affects the angle of attack so affects the club coming into impact many people who struggle with iron play get the ball position a little bit too far forward so if you think about the
Relationship being the middle of my stance a good Bas like Target as the club has more Loft and it gets significantly shorter we want to be a little bit steeper through impact vice versa the lower end of the spectrum where we hit four five six iron the ball
Position should be gadged for the former stance so just left to Center so the angle of attack is going to be slightly sharp people struggle feet get a little bit too wide ball gets a little bit too far forward because your stance is too wide we’re always inclined to transfer a
Little bit too much weight behind the golf so if you think of the distance between the left foot and right foot as we just start to transfer our way into the back swing many people struggle with get too much weight behind the golf B on the right side but don’t transfer it
Back early enough in the down swing so standing too wide as a weight moves back it gets a little bit too far behind the golf B part we feet are the more the distance the weight’s going to travel from one foot to the other transfer way
Into our right side our chest gets too far behind the golf ball then as we come into impact if you struggle with thin shots top shots a lot High shots not a lot of control this is a contribution towards one the related issues the ball being too far forward we being a little
Bit too far behind the golf ball too many golfers who stand ball position too far forward stands too wide as we shift our weight into the top of the back swing the chest gets too much behind the golf ball weight gets a little bit too much into the right side then we don’t
Have enough space and time to get our weight transferred back into our life sight so we get too much behind the golf ball and as we come back down we get an impact position where the grip end goes back because we’ve got too much weight behind the golf well we don’t have
Enough time to transfer weight back into our left s side which is going to enable us to make this kind of forward lean in the shaft and it’s going to enable us to make ball Turf cont don’t get the ball position too far forward don’t get the
Stance too wide don’t get your weight too far behind the golf ball and also we create an impact position looks like this grip end of the club goes back the way so grip end the clubs pointing back towards the right hip and then from there we have lots of Loft this is a
Guide that’s future proof your Technique set up to any shot we need to establish where the ball position needs to be located in between our feet it’s going to help us improve a little bit more success start with your feet together stand a little bit narrower so how we
Going to achieve that stand with your feet together you’re going to move your left foot forward right foot back so your feet are pretty much in line with your hips and also your shoulders don’t stand too wide where your feet get outside your hips you’re trying to get
Your feet in line with your hips and also your shoulders encourage you to stay a little bit more Center position in is pretty much just underneath my sternum that’s a great Bas like Target if you’re still struggling with the club coming a little bit too steep we would
Take quite a lot of ground after the ball try and move the ball a little bit further forward experiment if you’re still coming a little bit shallow move it a little bit further back going to start off with feet together left fo forward right foot back ball slightly in
The middle of my stands further back the GOL for moves the more that’s going to encourage a path more in out which is great for a draw but don’t move it too far back keep the ball in the middle of your stance now and as you gradually
Progress the four five six High you move the ball halfway between your left heel and also the middle STS so at the moment ball position is not concrete it will move depending on what type of shot you’re try to hit so ball position now for pitching wedge Sand Wedge 9 hour 8 7
Hour in the middle your stands underneath the zip on your jacket or if you’re still struggling it just move it a little bit further forward so it’s underneath your left ey the grip end of the club is pointing on an in step on my left leg then from there as I swing the
Club back I just try TR to feel like my chest stays on the inep of my right foot don’t sway too much behind the golf ball where my chest gets too far outside my right foot we trying to feel like we stay a little bit more centered a great
JW you can actually Implement start your feet together if I swing back and I’ve got a little bit too much weight behind the golf ball I’m going to fall over so it’s really try to encourage your weight to stay in between both feet it’s going to try and encourage your chest stay
More on top of the golf ball this will feel a little bit more restrictive but if it feels like that change something so we’re heading and we’re trending in the right direction chest is going to go back and forward and as you gradually see that your chest moving back and
Forward your weight’s going to stay more in the middle of your feet also another draw you can use is a step through draw where you place the golf ball just adjacent to your left foot if I swing back normally and don’t get my weight back towards my left side I’m going to
Hit the ground before the golf ball and I’m going to miss the golf ball completely it’s going to encourage you to transfer your weight a little bit more into your left side the time you finish the back swing so before you finish the back swing we’ve already
Started down so moving a left side a little bit more ahead of the golf but that will feel a little bit exaggerated and it will feel like all your weight’s pressuring into your left foot a little bit early if your left leg feels really heavy that’s a good indication that your
Weight’s transfering a little bit more into your LIF side a little bit earlier so from there I take a slight step forward I feel like all my pressure is going into my left foot so I feel like I’m taking a slight step forward and as
You can see from there as I take a SL step forward the hands going to get a little bit more ahead I’m going to feel like I’m turning the Loft down so if I take a step forward my weight goes into my left side and I create an impact
Position where my hands from my dress into impacted a little bit further forward I’m going to maintain my position I’m also going to create a little bit more ball T contact Dr is cat candy drill place your left hand on the bottom of the club right hand on top I
Swing back and I get a position where I get an impact position where the the grip end go back my right pal goes more towards the sky what you start to see from there is my left wrist so the knuckles on my left wrist go more towards the sky so really what we’re
Trying to feel like we’re doing from here swingle back we’re turning the left wrist more down towards the ground so the knuckles and the left hand more down towards the ground right pal to the ground is another good feeling if you’re something that creates a lot Loft impact
Where the handle goes back this left wrist gets in a really extended position that off the really exaggerated C hand as you’re going to snle her back Club down really feel like the left wrist the knuckles the left wrist go down towards the ground that is a great feeling
That’s going to initiate the hands get a little bit Moree as you can see from there the more the KN the left hand go down towards ground the more that club face generally gets in a deed position the more the knuckles on my left hand go
Towards the sky as you can see from there we had lots of off face point right so really what we’re trying to do we’re taking the grip end of the club from a dress and impact when moving the grip end of the club further ahead how
Do we achieve that we get the ball a little bit more in the middle of stance we try and feel like our weight transfers a little bit more to the left side a little bit earlier by the time you finish the back swing already feel
Like I’m taking a step to the left so I feel like my left knee is getting a little bit more away from my right knee and that’s going to encourage my hands to get a little bit more ahead so go from this position address and to impact
Knuckles on my left hand more down towards the ground right pal more down towards the ground it’s a great feeling which is going to educate your hands a little bit better through impact and also enable you to create ball TF contact summary don’t get the ball position too far forward don’t get your
Stands too wide and then as we swing back don’t get too much weight behind the golf in as we come back into impact we don’t have enough space and time to really transfer weight into our left side a little bit earlier and we get an impact position looks like this with the
Grip Ang goes back Club head overtakes the hand step with your left foot step your right foot just F the toes slightly open that’s going to help the knees and hips move a little bit Freer stance a little bit narrower shoulder wor apart from a dress into impact how does that
Look all my weights transfering a little bit more into left side then as I come through impact two feelings trying to get right knee to move ahead of your right ankle don’t let the right foot stay planted on the ground we’re really trying to feel it right knee moves
Closer to left knee and your right knee is moving always ahead of your right ankle so I feel like my right knee is moving closer to my left knee that’s going to allow my right foot to come off the ground and it’s going to enable me
To get all weight to Face Forward stands hands a little bit more ahead Dr and feel like your weight’s a little bit more onto your left side as we come into impact the feeling my weight stays into my right side my left leg feels really heavy hands a little bit more ahead and
Then the feeling from here is Bel buckle and chest to the Target and I should feel like everything faces forward so ver Buckle chest and our weight is orientated on to my left side sinkle back don’t let your right shoulder drop feel it from your chest to Target feel
