After the loss to UNC Wilmington at home, Kentucky desperately needed to get back in the win column today vs. Penn. It was not pretty, but the Cats beat the Quakers 81-66 in the Malone’s Classic sponsored by Campbell’s at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. With a trio of former Cats — Tyrese Maxey, Immanuel Quickley, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist — sitting courtside and plenty of Malone’s gift card advertisements on the floor, Kentucky ultimately took care of business to improve to 7-2 on the season.

This was a homecoming for several Kentucky Wildcats, but one outshined the rest. In just his second game back from injury, Aaron Bradshaw was spectacular. The 7-2 freshman notched his first career double-double with a team-high tying 17 points (7-12 FG, 1-2 3PT), 11 rebounds, 3 blocks, and a steal in 29 minutes. He was also tops in plus/minus efficiency at +17.

  1. Defense remains a question. The Cats had a big lead and let Penn get back into the game wiping out a 14 point Cat lead. Too many uncontested 3 pointers by Penn. Dillingham seems too flashy at times that result in out of control turnovers. But he's a fun offensive weapon to watch. Overall, Cats looked very good, especially with the addition of Bradshaw.

  2. Zack "Reed had a bad game"…..dude you really don't know basketball….He had 6pts on 4 shots 5 rebounds 3 assists O turnovers 1 block and 3 steal with a +16 in the plus minus…..He didn't hunt his shot he played the way a team player plays…You don't have to score 20 points to effect a game, which has done 3 times already this season….Readjust your eyeballs…

  3. Edwards and Therio in the game together kills us we have to change our starting lineup we can't keep doing this with them look at the box score they were the only two in minus and didn't play much because they don't give us don't on offense and Edwards especially can't guard anyone so what does he give us?

  4. I was happy to see the win. But the game was not as pretty as some of previous games with good flow and ball passes

  5. Aaron looking good we knew this was comming. Rob n Reeves must stop stupid stuff n bad defense I hope they don't cost them in the biggest games. Reeds parents need to lock them in class basketball IQ 😆

  6. Cal is overall great coach but giving the talents he had in year on year he was not the super coach who could figure out the big wins or adjust the offensive when things did not work

  7. Edwards needs to earn his minutes. He just has lazy tendencies that will likely not be fixed in 1 year.

  8. If this team could play half the defensive pressure as the 96 team they would elite.
96 team could always shut down the opposing team superstar, this team is opposite. Players go ballistic in shooting performance against this squad.

  9. I thought Bradshaw was great, but I wish he would just dunk everything when he's close to the basket. Show him old film of Andre Riddick for dunking tips.
