I am a 60 year old, 10 handicap golfer. I played sporadically for years just happy to break 100. In my forties as my son became a really good golfer, I started trying to improve. I spent several years by just playing alot more…another several year period taking a few lessons, practicing more etc. I have learned more about the golf swing and improved more in the past year watching your videos than in all the prior years combined. Really, really good explanation Russell. I think a lot of people get lost, myself included, when they look at their swing on video or whatever. Doesn't help that some "expert commentators" have claimed that for example DJ doesn't need any arm rotation because of his bowed wrist (closed face) at the top, something that has been proven completely false. Have worked recently on keeping the arms more connected to my body in the back swing and the release feels a lot more passive but in reality when I look at it, it's free flowing and arms rotating, just in a better way than before.

Russell, great to see you set up the camera correctly when demonstrating what it looks like to swing on-plane. The red line you have drawn to represent the elbow plane represents a plane and is not just a line. If golfers, when videoing their swings, don’t set up the camera to “look” along the edge of the elbow plane they can not see if they are swinging on-the plane.
This seems to be very poorly understood generally.
In your advice you correctly place a lot of importance on swinging on-plane. Perhaps you could do a video on how to set up the camera so your viewers can video their swings and see if they are swinging on-plane as you and other elite golfers do.
From my experience most will be surprised to see they don’t.
