  1. You want to hit it further? Ams need to improve technique, hit the gym and swing faster. Don’t rely on the ball or drivers. Pros will be fine.

  2. What the world already understands, but the Golf channel obviously has yet to learn is no one gives a hoot what Bandel Chamblee thinks or feels about ANYTHING.

  3. why can’t players just be allowed to score lower? all other sports don’t change when players get better

bifurcation is also totally ridiculous. it is an unnecessary complication. the ball is already limited.

the usga needs to stop trying to change/fix the game and just let people play.

courses don’t need to be any longer then they are. length is not the only way to defend par, it isn’t even the most exciting!

  4. Titleist and ball manufacturers should file suit.
Leave ball at current rate- make pro players use higher lofted, small blades and small woods

  5. The price of a golf ball is already insane — how about these manufacturers stop complaining from the billions they've already made on overpriced equipment that was putting the game in a sandbox for pros. Just make a normal profit for once?

  6. I love seeing a pro hit a massive drive in a championship. I hit balls a decent distance, and have really good hand-eye control. What I don't like is seeing my 240 yrd drive look tiny vs some pro hitting 310. they are not that much stronger. Yet, I can take a splitting maul and crush a 20 inch round of fir, split it open, and understand the principles of a good swing, yet a pro probably couldn't do what I do. The difference is equipment and balls. I am not spending $5 per ball , nor am I buying some hyper souped-up driver. Does anyoen have their driver or balls inspected like NASCAR drivers have to have their cars inspected? I think pro golf is as much a fraud as Lance Armstrong's Tour victories.

  7. I agree with the decision I'm a amateur – I'm 52 and hit driver and wedge or no higher than 8 iron on most courses from the tips

  8. For once I can agree with Chamblee, this is a terrible idea and there is no reason for it. Driving distance has certainly gone up butt he average score has bot gone down in decades. No one will buy limited flight golf balls, there is zero market, so it's no wonder manufacturers don't want bifurcation.

  9. Understand doing this on the professional level but why do it to the public? They’re no where near the pro level. The manufacturers designing equipment to help a regular joe try and play like a pro is no issue here? Golf is so cuckoo with their rules.

  10. Wood bats for professionals. Wood AND metal bats for amatures. So roll back for pros and non roll back for amatures. Tigers analogy about bats make zero sense.

  11. I don't get it. So what if players have to shoot -20 or better to win tournaments. Don't change the ball or make course longer. Make em shorter, lets have more birdies and eagles, even some double eagles 😀

  12. Well at what point does the consumer say enough is enough and let that crap rot on the shelf. I’ll tell you I’m already there , I’m not paying 55$ for balls when they are giving thousands of their sponsors unlimited supply why we take the brunt of the cost

  13. What happens when the PGA tour doesn't abide by the rollback? Early on, they said they wouldn't. Liv won't do it, and I'm guessing amateur golfers will do the same. What happens when Titleist, Taylormade, and Callaway don't make a "conforming" ball? Could you imagine all the money spent in R&D to make the current ball? They could make the ruling, and it not matter at all.

  14. Is Brandell that dumb or does he just like to be opposite everyone so he gets airtime? Who does he think pays for golf ball development today? Amateurs do. The ball has had huge amounts of RD put into over the past few decades. Remember wound balata? Now we have 3, 4, and even 5 piece balls with new coverings. Amateurs paid for all that development. Now ad in the increased cost of a round because courses need to be 7,500 yards and amateurs pay again.

  15. Distance has always been relative anyway. I can remember reading a golf instruction book that said Jack Nicklaus wowed crowds with regular drives in the 280s. Thats nothing now. If you roll the golf ball back there are still going to be guys who are long hitters compared to the field.

  16. Why is the argument that the cost of development of a golf ball will be passed on to the consumer? Haven't manufacturers already done that? Each dozen of balls costs more and more each year.

  17. How do you sell the game, apparently the ball is now being tested by how high the ball speed is measured, for God sake don't bring it back leave it the same, bit don't bring it back, us the amateurs, let us feel some good about ourselves, if it's left as it is all good, you've got to be able to sell t h e game , if the pros hit it out there, great, the end result, there will always be a winner, short or long ball, sell t he game, answer is, don't progress the ball

  18. Let me get this straight- because a bunch of old white men at the R&A and USGA decided that the one percent of the one percent of golfers hit the ball too far, me and my 20 handicap will have to pay more for a golf ball that does not go as far as my current ball? If so, they have succeeded in taking away the "one shot that keeps you coming back".

  19. Yeah guys, let’s make the most exciting and dynamic facet of the game go away, along with lower scores, while simultaneously making the game harder for amateurs. Oh, and thanks for the encouragement, Rory, it makes me so much happier knowing I’m getting equipment that’s nerfed for my hard earned money while you get the good shit for free

  20. Simple solution: make fairways 7 yards wide and grow the rough… let’s test the skills of these “pros” without penalizing the people who buy the tickets to watch them

  21. Instead of rolling the ball back, why not just cap it at its current performance level. Seems much more logical and reasonable
