This is a first of it’s kind. We are building a set of 2 length irons. Half at 6 iron length and half at wedge length. I show you the entire process and how far I hit each of these fully custom clubs.

My initial thought was the the 8 should be shorter length shaft but… That's roughly the loft of my 7 so…
What's dumb is the Cobra single length irons have different lie angles for each club. As you said, each length should be a fixed lie angle.
What I would be interested to see was the data for landing angle. Or was the client willing to accept a flatter descent just to be able to play those longer irons effectively on the course with shorter shafts?
Awesome job! Just curious if making a head dramatically heavier has a big impact on the way the shaft plays? I reshafted a set of Dynamic Gold 120 to KBS tour lite and the swingweight dropped to C5 so added lead tape to get back to D1 and they seemed to flex more and I hit them fat which is rare for me. Removed lead tape and although swingweight is C5 the flex seems better and no more hitting heavy.
Are these taper tip shafts, and if so which two shaft #'s did you go with?
Simple direct approach doesn’t work, needs much more trial and error, good first try!
Interesting build Ajay. Very tight results on total weight. That cost some money in parts and your time to test that theory. It seems like the same length shafts can hurt your gapping between certain irons.
I've missed your videos – I had to re-subscribe as YouTube had deleted you from my list!
I wondered about a 3 length set 60°, 54°,48°, all length of pw and then pw ,9i ,8i, as a 8i length then 7i ,6i ,5i as 5i length then I would just keep the 4i normal
I'm sure he trimmed the shaft to match the weight of the head, or if they are taper tip shafts, he bought a shaft appropriate for the weight of the head.
Pinhawk vertex were the only other time I’ve seen dual length irons. They run 3, 4, and 5 at 38” and then 6-55° at 36.5”. I like their idea but I would just rather switch over to hybrids for the low lofted irons.
Why did your customer want lead tape when the heads are already off the shafts? Cost?
I do a version of this at the bottom of my bag. My 8-9-Pw-Gw are all 37.00 inches. I use very heavy grips (82g) so swing weights are not that crazy despite the added length. My wedges are all 36.00. For 5-6-7 irons, I just do a standard +1/2 inch. I don't want them the same length because it compresses my gapping. I would love to see a manufacturer do a TRI-LENGTH set … Wedges at 36.00, short irons at 37.00 and long irons at 38.00 (or something along those lines).
If his swing matches yours, the top of the bag is very bunched up. The 6 should just be bent to the 5 loft, then the gapping between 7 to 6 would be the same as between the 9 to 8 and 8 to 7. Then he could drop the 5 and 4 and select 2 more clubs to go in the bag.
Not convinced one or in this case two lengths of clubs for all one's irons makes any real sense. And I say that having played my L(61)-S(55)–P(50)-9(45.5) all at 36" for the last 30 years and then 1/2" length increments from 8 (36.5") down to 3(39") iron.
did this recently myself; I have a set of cobra one length and a standard set; went P/9/8 with One L, 7/6/5 with std length – played em pretty well!
3-7 SL hybrids, SL 8-sw would be money
