In their second of two match-ups this weekend, the Pittsburgh Penguins hosted the Vegas Golden Knights. Wasting no time, Lars Eller in the offensive zone put a ton of pressure on the Vegas defense, causing a scramble in front of the net. Ryan Graves crashing low into the zone found the loose puck and, with a wrist shot, got his first goal with the Penguins. The remainder of the 1st was fast-paced, hard-played hockey. The Penguins continued to push the pace in the 2nd. With the puck stuck in a scrum below the Vegas goal line, Jeff Carter, Matt Nieto, and Noel Acciari battled to regain possession. The puck bounced backward out of the pile, catching the Vegas goaltender looking the wrong way. Acciari shot the puck in for his first as a Penguin as well. That goal also marked Nieto’s first assist with the Penguins. Pittsburgh led 2-0 against the defending Stanley Cup champions heading into the 3rd. Continuing to use their speed, the Penguins kept the pressure on the Golden Knights, generating chance after chance. Late in the period, Vegas pulled their goaltender. Evgeni Malkin shot the puck in the empty net to secure the victory for the Penguins. For the final first of the night, Alex Nedeljkovic got his first shutout as a Penguin, the eighth of his career. The Penguins won 3-0.

  1. Felt bad due to the Steelers loss so I missed out on this. A little sad I missed out on a great game but happy the Penguins got the win.

  2. When they play defense 1st they win games. When they get into track meets with younger faster teams like the devils and hurricanes they lose. This team is older and needs to play defense 1st to be successful. Good win tonight

  3. Delco deserves the nod on the next game after that showing especially since 6 million jarry is playing inconsistently right now, but not just jarry.

  4. Good solid win, and not an easy win when it concerns Vegas.
It takes a little sting out of Pittsburgh sports for the weekend.
At least the Pen fans could hoist the victory mug tonight.

  5. I love how Graves tucks into the net on his knees while Ned is down to protect the net at the last minute. Great effort and team work.

  6. Alex Nedeljkovic scores a goal last night with the baby pens and gets called up and shuts out the defending champs. what a 24 hours for him!

  7. Good job, team.
Pretty exciting weekend for Ned ☺
ETA In addition to Hinostroza, they're now down some Rs- Rust, Rakell, Ruhwedel 😧
So WBS and Wheeling will also be feeling the pinch.

  8. Thank u guys! Alex Nedeljkovic was a Great Wall! Send more time for Alex! Great win

  9. Imagine a tandem of Korpisalo and Ned. Bet this team pushes the rewind button fast if they had the opportunity on that deal.

  10. Good win boys.
The games vs Colorado & this one show what this team can be when they play the right way. Don't always have to be all offense.

  11. Really glad to see Cookie & Gravy finally score and for Ned to have a shut out against the reigning Stanley Cup Champs! Great win, boys!

  12. Crosby I’m your biggest fan I live in North Carolina but couldn’t come to your game please show this to Crosby
