Doing the first down sign every time you get a first down is just cliche and embarrassing now. Why not hold up the number of fingers for the amount of yards you got if short of a dirt down too? Its happens a ton of times a game. You’re supposed to get a first down, it’s part of your job. It’s not a major accomplishment when it happens.
