  1. how was it that pat summeral and tom brrokshier wound up doing a ''shit game ''such as the Buffalo Bills and the NY Giants. Bills were lousy. got a strong feeling too, that this game was blacked in most of western NY with the small crowd

  2. Love that NBC intro. Football and Baseball. Give me the 70's any day over this present day trash.

  3. You know what i like about this era pro football,
No loud music after every play. Also the public address announcer isn't screaming his calls. To the stadium audience…..

  4. Why do they not allow to 2 running backs in the backfield
any more like they used to allow years ago?

  5. This season would see the 49ers finish as one of the worst teams in the league, they'd draft Joe Montana and a year later were ready to go to the playoffs and the Super Bowl.

  6. Also what strikes me are these are the uniforms I grew up with ….now not playing this day are my Cowboys who to me, BY FAR, have the greatest uniforms in all of sport (closest to me is the uniform of my beloved Red Deer Rebels (WHL HOCKEY) NOW outside of my Cowboys…2 The Raiders 3. Falcons 4. Patriots 5. Tampa Bay (especially white jersey) 6. Chargers blue (I must say the Chargers powder blue are nice but WAY WAY overrated. ) My most hated and I live in Philthy are the eagles and Washington …Steelers and SF. HOWEVER …..these eagles uniforms were their best ..they are really nice, especially the white jersey and Buffalo really nice. I do not understand why any of these teams changed their uniforms….If I could add 5 players to my 1978 Cowboys (honestly my top 2 Cowboys team of all time) 1. #37 Lester Hayes CB Oakland 2. #10 Brad Van Pelt LB NYG 3. #82 Ozzie Newsome TE Browns (we had a 2nd TE Jay Saldi #87 who we did not use nearly enough) 4. #63 Lee Roy Selmon (DE/OLB) Tampa. To me still the greatest Buccaneer to ever play …so underrated to this day and 5. Cliff Branch #21 WR Oakland…just like Drew Pearson…BEYOND CRIMINAL it took way to Kong to get into the HOF. 6. Alfred Jenkins WR Falcons to me the greatest Falcons WR. Oh and aside from my Cowboys…the greatest offense I saw was the 1980 -82 Atlanta Falcons William Andrews was great oh and I will say this …..the most overrated RB I ever saw was….BARRY SANDERS. 1. HE SUCKED at catching the ball out of the backfield….was never used short yardage and he did NOTHING on the field that Tony Dorsett and Gayle Sayers did not already previously do before him and did it MUCH BETTER. A Truly honest Lions fan will tell you…if not for a knee injury…was Barry better than Lions #20 BILLY SIMMS?. Now before you freak out reader..watch some Billy stuff before you say a word.

  7. Also, look at the uniforms and his they were made….now I have issues with the company but Mitchell and Ness (and 2 more for my Cowboys throwback jerseys);….but they really did get the get the 70's and 80's texture of the jerseys correct. I can tell by looking at the Packers jerseys.

  8. The older announcers and analysts were so much better ..also notice …game starts. Some games been at 2PM EST time. Also making the Rams play a game at Noon or-2 PM EST is criminal and they still do it today.

  9. The Chiefs Kelcee is great but he was NOOOOO Ozzie Newsome, Dave Casper or Kellen Winslow. Also if my man Billie Joe DuPree had more speed……

  10. WRONG!!!!! Any old school COWBOYS fan will tell you and George Allen should know better….Calvin Hill over the top produced many fumbles. Also it disgusted me that Calvin never went back to my Cowboys after the WFL folded.

  11. Why do we always have someone tell us about the players back then to the players today. I loved football back then. No cry babies like today but he athletes are much better in this era. Saying tight ends then were better than Kelce is just ridiculous. Drop Kelce as is today in 1978 and we’d be talking about the greatest player ever in any sport. He would absolutely dominate catching and running against players 45 years ago. Stop acting like a fool

  12. I didn't know Brian gumbel was a sports analyst until I think 2007 or whenever nfl network brought him on for that 1 season.

  13. Thanksgiving Day,,, Nov 23, 1978,,,,Redskins at Dallas COWboys (score at the Final Horn,, Cowboys 37,,, Redskins 10). Late in the 1st quarter,, Skins Qtrback Joe Theissman gets SACKED. At that moment,, it's "Hello,, my name is Harvey Martin! How DO you DO?" Fast forward to games end,, in the Redskins Locker Room,, and Skins QB Theismann, is crying,, VERY uncontrollably,,, yelping out "They kicked our tails today,, and they kicked them GOOD". Across the way,, in the Locker Room of AMERICA'S Team (the Dallas COWboys) our hero Thomas Hollywood Henderson was gleefully raveing,, "yeah,,, not ONLY did we KICK their butts,, but we made complete TURKEYs out of that team from Washington D.C. HA HA! Look at all these turkey feathers,, scattered everywhere!!!! Yeap,, today, almost 45 years later,,, meeself is now (uhhhmm) ROTF VERY uncontrollable,,, LMAO!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  14. Recently, Keith Olbermann told the story about Herm Edwards scoop n' score on his podcast. 😂

  15. The Chargers were 2-6 at the midpoint of the season and went 7-1 the second half and finished 9-7, 1 game short of the playoffs. They were just torching teams during that 7-1 run and if they'd have gotten in, even as a wild card, they could have done some serious damage in the playoffs and possibly won the Super Bowl. They showed that sometimes bad teams are really just good teams under the surface waiting to get out. They were in the embryonic stage of Air Coryell that year and by the end of the season they were flying high and what many might not realize is that they had a really good defense that year too. It's true they underachieved over the next two seasons but the league hadn't adjusted to them yet in '78, which made them extra dangerous.
Conceivably, the Holy Roller play might have cost Air Coryell a Super Bowl championship.

  16. Miss these days when it was all about Football! No London/International games, No Taylor Swift, No BS, just Football!

  17. I was at that Packers-Vikings game with my dad and brother. Way up near the top of the bleachers at about the 10-yard line. Went to overtime, ended in a 10-10 tie! That game cost the Packers the division title – both teams finished 8-7-1 but Minnesota won the tie-breaker.
