Agreed that Montgomery probably shouldn't have said that, but there should be way for those kinds of quotes to get out to help draw attention to regular season games. Everyone has seen the player/coach "ego" accounts on twitter, each NHL team should have one of those people who feed the media with no direct correlation to the players or coaches
