The Sky Blues suffered defeat at home to West Bromwich Albion in Sky Bet Championship action.
Goals either side of half-time, scored by Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante ensured the visitors would leave with all three points.
After a flurry of corners to start the game for the visitors, it was at the other end where the games first opportunity came and it was Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, who unleashed a powerful strike, which stung the hands of Alex Palmer.
From the resulting save, the ball broke to Ben Sheaf on the edge of the area and his shot appeared to come off the arm of Cedric Kipre, but the referee waved away the shout for a penalty.
However, it would be the Baggies who would take the lead and it came from a powerful strike by Nathaniel Chalobah which was saved initially by Ben Wilson, but Grady Diangana was first to pounce, and he found the back of the net.
City’s best chance to get back into the game fell to Haji Wright, when he was on the end of Liam Kitching’s ball into the box, but he couldn’t steer his strike on target.
Wright was finding space in behind the Baggies back five and again a ball into the box, this time from Jay Dasilva enabled Haji to get a shot away from a tight angle, but Alex Palmer made the save.
Five minutes before the break, a ball to the edge of the area was latched onto by Jamie Allen and his first-time strike was saved.
HALF-TIME: Sky Blues 0-1 West Brom
The Sky Blues started the second half well and were on the front foot, creating their own luck when a ball played through by Sheaf was diverted into the path of Wright by Alex Mowatt, but Haji couldn’t find the target when through on goal.
A fine block from Jay Dasilva kept the visitors from doubling their lead, when it looked for all the world that Jed Wallace would test Ben Wilson.
West Brom would find a second in controversial circumstances, when Brandon Thomas-Asante appeared to be offside, but play was allowed to continue, and the striker slotted the ball past Wilson to make it 2-0.
City pushed to find a way back into the game, but there was to be no reward, as they slipped to defeat at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Keep the Faith Alex, MR must teach these players how to cross into the box. We give the ball back so so often. Why no Bidders? He can cross. Haji sorry mate you don't work hard enough on the pitch when you don't have to ball. Look at some videos of VicG.PUSB from Aus.
