Gooch 35 is closer to correct
OWGR is a joke and now useless
Rick..you should rename this the Guy show!!?? Mark my words…he’s taking over. Get rid of him!
Felt Guy’s argument was rambling and slightly Ill informed or poorly prepared. He seems to continually be playing ‘just a minute’. Enjoy watching and listening but less prevaricating please.
They just described Pete Larkin as Louis Theroux my money don’t giggle! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The OGWR segment was not impressive lads. The OGWR said they can accommodate for all the nuances of LIV except one. That being there is no way for players to qualify for LIV events other than to be offered a contract. Every other tour in the world has a way for players to play their way onto and off them except for LIV. These criteria were around for a long time before LIV and they had every opportunity to design their tour to comply with the ranking system. Throwing a tantrum and expecting the established way professional players are fairly ranked against each other is absolutely ridiculous from LIV. All they have to do to get points is allow for players to qualify/lose status, it's not that hard
No cut and 54 holes makes awarding Liv points very difficult. They are playing a different game. If the PGA had no cut, it would be possible for someone to climb from day 2 to day 4 and therefore massively increase their world ranking points. Liv players have that opportunity, PGA players don’t. Liv players knew what they were signing up to, their complaints about it now they’ve taken the cash are laughable.
Important!!!! The pga event that was rained out and only finished 54 holes.. Did they get POINTS.
My challenge with giving LIV golfers World Ranking points is that they are only playing against the 40 that are in the split off. If there was a guarantee that the courses are as tough, the competition is as tough, and so on, naybe but they arent the same sport. It would be like having an English Premier League ranking vs a MLS League ranking. They arent the same because the same players aren't there.
LIV is to golf as Rugby League is to Rugby Union.
While Peter Dawson is in charge of of OWR LIV won’t get anything
The main reason OWGR denied LIV is because it's a closed shop. If you play better and you can't obviously qualify for their events because you get to play only if you are chosen
Mexican tour only play 54 holes and they get points. this is the PGA wanting control
About LIV..
About the OWGR I don’t know. Maybe there is a way.
But about LIV as a concept.. the reasons why there are sports where players make a lot of money are almost always the fans. And because the interest of the fans generates money.
LIV is basically all about paying absurd amounts of money to players and attract fans by doing it. To me, that will never work. In the long term it has to be the other way around.
Hopefully there will be a solution to all of this in the future but LIV as it is now and played for the reasons it is now will never attract a bigger audience.
I don’t know this one way or the other, but does the PGA Champions Tour receive World Ranking? If not, then LIV shouldn’t either. If they do, then LIV should as well.
I think it's quite childish to be honest. LIV golf is very enjoyable to watch in my opinion. Also being world No.1 for a short period or winning 18 Million dollars for winning the season of LIV, I no which is more appealing to me. 🤔
Rick- Whole. Meaning all of something. Therefore it is wholly (pronounced holey.)
Rick,
Thank you for the amazing content. My bag has been heavily influenced by you. Drivers, irons, and wedges all influenced by your reviews.
A few thoughts after listening to the latest podcast. Guy’s thoughts on LIV are similar to my thoughts, and I would think similar to the thoughts of a lot of your long time viewers, on the idea of a youtube major and the recent direction of your channel.
Collab’s are fun, but I would stay away from becoming the British Good Good. Or becoming one creator that is part of a network of creators.
Your content is the best because an individual is hitting the majors of golf content. Club reviews, teaching golf, showing the human side of pros (more LPGA for the girl dads please) and showcasing the beautiful golf courses of the world (more new courses please).
Stay away from being part of a team that has a shotgun start. There’s more money in the direction you’re going I’m sure…but I’m concerned it will also be unwatchable.
Thank you for the hard work and amazing content. Cheers.
I’d like to think there can be some compromise and devise a system of points applicable for LiV players taking into account all things LiV. Otherwise the official world ranking isn’t really worth the paper it’s written on
100 percent agree with no ranking points for liv golf players the whole thing is a joke
