Note: The ‘Oli’ in the released audio from the PGMOL refers to Oli Kohout. VAR Hub Operations Executive At PGMOL and not fourth official Michael Oliver.
Kaveh Solhekol reacts to the recently released audio which wrongly denied Luis Diaz’s goal for Liverpool at Tottenham, which has been released by the PGMOL, revealing the radio operator was the only person to tell the officials to stop the game and award the goal.
In the first half of the match, Diaz was flagged offside after scoring but replays showed he was actually onside.
But Darren England, the VAR, mistakenly believed the on-field decision had been to award the goal, leading him to tell Simon Hooper, the referee, that the check was complete.

It’s a shame that the world’s no1 ligue has the worst referees
Total BS!! Surely no human is perfect but the fact that they didn't even try to stop the game when they just restarted it for a few seconds… it's a total BS and corruption in display. Following the law for the sake of the law is a cope-out people must use common sense – they were arrogant and simply trying to hide from their mistakes. Check the betting patterns and I'm not a Liverpool fan but totally supporting them wanting to have a replay.
HOW CAN ANYBODY DEFEND THE UNDEFENCEABLE
The worst excuse I have heard in football
It's been nothing but crap since it first came in
How come there are mistakes after mistake since VAR arrived but only Liverpool think they have the moral high ground? especially after the 2019 champions league final against Spurs and their shoulder ball penalty ''won'' by Sane.
The proverb has become reality that the 12th player will win a game for the team. Thank you Simon Hooper!! 🎉
Mistek😅
Was not a mistake this was done on purpose so clear
It's not a mistake, its a catastrophe and undermines VAR past, present and future.
Forward to today 08th October 2023, and everyone is lauding and praising how "10-men Tottenham" won against Luton. It is shocking how the journalists keep discounting the fact that with numeric superiority against not Luton but Liverpool, this "great Tottenham" went down only for the VAR to f**k everything up. Then again with even more player numeric superiority, this "great Spurs team" was on the verge of loosing two points.
It is shocking how all these talking heads keep lauding Ange's Spurs team but have quickly forgotten that against an LFC team which saw two players sent out for two huge mistakes, both of which VAR saw and at least in one of them, VAR negatively influenced the on-filed ref, and both of which mistakes contributed towards the end result.
VAR was silent when Udogie fouled Gakpo, where Udogie should have seen yellow. But VAR was silent. VAR was also silent when the same Udogie tripped himself, knee to knee, and Jota was given a yellow. In both incidents, VAR was silent.
So these talking heads should shut the f**k up and call a spade a spade rather than keep excusing the unexcusable. They should talk about this if Spurs manage to usurp LFC for anything in the PL, for a place in CL, for the league win etc. LFC have been and would have been robbed blind. By VAR.
Refrees are human beings and can be corrupt. I am so sure they planned to rob the game for Tottenham. The red cards tell it all all…
This is not a mistake. In the first place, why was the goal ruled offside for it to go VAR? Clearly, there was no way the lines couldn't see that goal was onside. They came to rob the game for Tottenham
What consequences are being suffered? No, seriously, WHAT?! They’ve suffered none.
I hope they’re not harassed for it and it doesn’t seem like there’s any consequences for them.
Players get red carded and miss games. There are actual consequences for them. They’ll get fined potentially too.
Refs?
Follow rugby .. the ref asks very direct questions…sane with cricket…
These referees are treated like eggs, we do not see actions taken on them but we see actions taken on players. Am sorry, i been hating this type of unfairness. Referees have grown wings becauses they are super protected.
whats the point of VAR at the end?
Nah. It was unacceptable, they literally had the video showing them onside, the only other excuse is intentionally fixing the game. They didn't even show the offsides line like they normally do, because thru KNEW it was onside. Also we need to mention the red card that was a joke. Whole game needs replayed with new refs
The reality is this : Would the match really have been altered if the ref called the ball back to the center of the field a few seconds after blowing the whistle?Absolutely not. Case law exists for a reason in the real world. VAR protocol is not the only thing that should be reviewed, IFAB should be able to recognize these cases as exceptions to minimize the emergence of ridiculous outcomes such as this one.
Who the h* is this guy trying to cover up? Sky Sports, you can get better guy..
