I’m still feeling LIV out. I agree very much on the whole team names problem. They feel like caricatures and from the off doesn’t really seem to take themselves seriously. Linking to a brand/organisation would be a big improvement on that front but appreciate the possible reluctance from those brands given the question marks over the money etc
I’m a fan of a lot of the LIV players and would rather see them all return to the tour first than have them stay on LIV. However, a better team “narrative/story” would go a long way to making it better and more enjoyable/relatable.
It’s nothing against liv , pga , dp world tour , but does anyone fully invest into these on a weekly basis ? I love golf but only watch the majors and the “flagship” events as I guess most people do so does anyone really care about the rest …
I have no problem with people who enjoy LIV events however I do have problems with several features of LIV. 1 A shotgun start builds no tension 2 Ditto no cut 3 I have never cared how much money players earn for winning 4 Certain LIV golfers such as Gooch win multiple times because in reality they are only competing against 7/8 genuine competitors. 5 The teams are meaningless and pointless 6 I detest the bots who attack if you make a negative comment and amusingly their sole justification is the money. 7 If LIV deserve OWGR points then you will next be pressurised to give points for pro-ams and exhibitions. 8 Finally the dishonesty of many LIV golfers depresses me when they come up with ridiculous reasons why they signed up when everyone know it was for the MONEY. Don't insult our intelligence.
I really like LIV. I like watching golf. BUT grown men hitting little white balls on pretty green grass. How is exciting to watch that on the PGA but not on LIV? my opinion is after it’s first real season it’s done very well. The hateful opinions that are based on politics and activism are the reason it’s not bigger than it is. Also RICK what does the PGA mean. They all play for money. Majors are different. Everything else is all about the money. Stop being an activist and just be a golf lover.
IMO, the main issue LIV Golf has is the party-style atmosphere of the match. Blasting music all around the course while play is taking place just goes against much of what I love about golf, and this is coming from someone who is a huge music lover (and a wanna-be musician). On top of that, the team names are mostly ridiculous.
How anyone can not enjoy matchplay between Phil/DJ, Brook/Phil or the other big names is beyond me. Forget about it being Liv and just enjoy watching some high quality golf. Bet you watched the YouTube match between Phil and Bryson, why is this any different
I think "trash" is a strong word and I guess you used it for a reason, I agree it's difficult to watch and to get into vs the DP or PGA tour events that we're used to, without the Saudi billions it would get no where but it has the billions so it's here to stay until that runs out and fair play to the players on there for getting a pay day you can't fault them for that. I'm sure it's a great event to actually go watch just not a TV spectacle for me.
So does the new diet mean no more Sausage Roll reviews?? That would be a detriment to the channel 😅
LIV what a joke team game total cringe
Rick and Guy thinking all of the US is Florida weather and none of us know about winter golf 😅
90% of us know all about the feeling of hitting a thin shot in the winter. Ouch!
I really like LIV Golf, except for the jungle music blasting the entire round, can't stand the music.
Pretty stupid on his part. You really shouldn’t mess with your companies money.
YouTube Masters directly after WM Phoenix Open. They have the perfect infrastructure and fan base. That would be epic!
Yes, agree on LIV, found it hard to care at all. I also think teams by country would be a good idea. You could have a Calif. Team, and Fla. Team to break up US players. But don't want to give them good ideas, cuz Im hoping it all goes away…
Might be my first comment on the podcast (left a few on the main channel) but this finally pushed me to leave some critical feedback of something I observe somewhat frequently. I enjoy the show and find both Rick and Guy to be positive and entertaining but I'd put Guy in the category of someone who can easily use 10 words in what should be a 4 word sentence. The LIV rant started about 28:33 and around the 31.55 mark he even acknowledges his long-winded rant but then continues on until almost 36:25. That's nearly 8 entire minutes of what I'd estimate to be 95% Guy rambling with 5% of Rick getting in a comment or two. Would never expect this kind of podcast to be scripted but that's the extreme I think would be needed to tighten up the wandering commentary that happens more than just occasionally. No, I don't expect anything to change but I've thought about commenting on it before and this episode finally made me do it. 😁
Don’t stop now Rick thinking big time now keep grinding take them all on
Rick do you sit on the toilet and just have a replay of how you first put a camera on to give out golf instruction and get your coaching across and now your organising your own golf event
I’m in Orlando. I would definitely go to a live YT Event. Let’s go!!!!!
@22:51 — Interesting discussion regarding alcohol here. I quit drinking seven and a half years ago. Imagine if you quit a 'hard' drug like coke or h*roin. Once you quit, you're celebrated for it. But honestly, even all these years later, someone who I meet for the first time might offer to buy me a beer. I'll politely decline and tell them I don't drink. Then, nine times out of ten, they look all serious for a moment and semi-whisper, "Oh. Do you have a problem?" Haha. Alcohol is the only drug on the planet whereby you're deemed to have a problem AFTER you stop taking it. 🤣🤣 It's also the only drug that you have to justify NOT taking. Can you imagine someone ever saying, "Oh, go on. Stop being antisocial. Just sniff the one line…" Lots of sober people just say they're driving or on antibiotics or something. Oh, and alcohol is the only drug that isn't even classed as drug. You see adverts all the time stating something along the lines of: "Do you have a problem with drugs or alcohol?"
A guy whose job it is to categorise drugs (here in the UK) went onto the Joe Rogan podcast a couple of years ago and the statistics he listed were terrifying. Alcohol is present in over 80% of all suicides and over 90% of weekend admissions to A&E. It plays a key role in domestic vi0lence and 'street crime' that results in significant injury. S*xual a*use. Drink driving deaths. High rates of depression and anxiety issues. This guy then showed how and why they classify drugs with either A, B, C ratings etc. And when he inserted alcohol into the mix, it didn't fit anywhere. This guy classified drugs for a living and he said, without question, that if alcohol were 'invented' today… given everything that we know about it… it would be placed into it's very own A* category along with Fentanyl.
I'm not one of those miserable ex-drinkers. Still buy people beers and take them wine to BBQs etc. I just find it fascinating how ingrained it is in our society. George Best always said the temptation was too much in this country. We drink on all occasions. Miserable weather? Have a drink to cheer yourself up. Glorious sunshine? Beer garden time. Passed an exam or driving test? Celebrate down the local! Failed and exam or driving test? Commiserate down the local! Nervous? Have a drink to settle yourself. Sad? Have a drink to cheer yourself up. Need some courage? How about Dutch courage… get it down ya! Wife just gave birth? Let's 'wet the baby's head' and get wasted! Someone died? Let's raise a glass to their memory! Can't sleep? Have a nightcap… I could go on but you get the idea.
Most drugs have one function. But alcohol is the only drug that claims to calm nerves AND cheer us up AND send us to sleep. 🤣🤣 If it really did make us more focused, we wouldn't poop ourselves if we saw our airline pilot drinking whiskey before a flight… I would get off that plane. It's a central nervous system depressant and a strong anesthetic. That's all it is. The buzz/fuzzy lightheaded feeling we get is the body's attempt to get rid of a poison. The hangover is dehydration and reduced brain size. 🤣🤣
Not everyone takes things to extremes and I guess the vast majority of people drink 'sensibly' (whatever that means). And prohibition was an epic disaster, so we won't be doing that again. Sorry if that bored y'all. Genuinely just find it fascinating on this side of the non-drinking fence, that's all. It's even interesting how we call it 'DRINKING?' If we don't drink then we die. But alcohol is so ingrained, I actually tell people "I don't drink". That thought has only just dawned on me. Haha. I wonder if McDonald's fast-food will ever become so ingrained in our society that we go ahead and call it 'EATING'?!
— "You fancy a Big Mac later?"
— "No, mate. I don't eat."
Having said all this… I LOVED the Guinness challenge with Bob Does Sports and I'm looking forward to more like it. 🤣🤣 👌❤
Rick did you see on Pete's podcast he picked you for the YouTube Ryder cup team, practice paying off mate 😂 good to see you striking it sweet !
