Today on this journey to scratch I play my first ever par 72 course to start getting scores for my handicap. I’ve been training a lot with golf coaches and getting lessons to help me on this journey and this video is the front 9 in this 18 hole round.

  1. I would start from the next tees after the red. Don’t play distances your ability. It makes it no fun and not warranted. Start off nice and easy. Once you mastered whites then move up. Just my opinion. Enjoyed the video and keep grinding

  2. looks like you're about a 25 handicap, give or take a few strokes. Really good spot to be in just 4.5 months. I've been playing for about 7 and would be thrilled to be that good.

  3. You do hit your driver well, but just because the scorecard yardage is X and you have Y left doesn't mean your drive went X – Y. A good example would be hole #2. The hole is setup to account for a dog-leg left, but a dead straight shot from tee box to mid green is roughly 260yds.

  4. Jerome, you are talented. only four months and come so far. It takes years and people can't be as good as you. Your drive was so far man. most people don't hit as far as you, at least I don't… keep up the good work.

  5. Your pulling the ball because your coming over the top .right shoulder is leading your swing .stay in your posture spine angle till your swing is over.

  6. Man. Ive been watching you since you practically started. I think you need to take a better mental approach. You laugh too much on bad swings and sometimes it seems like you rush and dont think about the best possible shot "you" can actually hit consistently. Keep grinding!

  7. Not sure if you realize, but most people cannot drive 300 after a lifetime of work…. 4 months is insane !

  8. I've gotta say 50 on 9 holes really ain't bad considering how new you are to the game. Imagine what you would have shot there two months ago! You're making some solid progress so just keep with the program and keep grinding. Before long that 50 will be a 40. You're on your way!

  9. Man i started about a year ago and am so impressed with how well that round went compared to my first round. Especially considering youre playing from the tips! Also just so jealous of the distance you have! If i swing a perfect shot at best it might got 265 haha. Gotta hit the gym i guess.

Excited to see your progress haha, I think youre gonna crush this challenge in no time 🤣

  10. Welcome to real golf!! You did well!! Just try extra hard to relax you body and arms and trust the swing!! Stepping on course will tense you up so if you try to keep arms relaxed and grip easy!!

  11. Your shortgame has definitely improve and your driver was the best!

With the irons, if you close you clubface as much as you do because you want to hit a draw, your swing path has to be to the right. Your swing path was often to the left, probably because you want to go towards your target and rushed the transition a bit.

You are doing a fantastic job and I really enjoy watching your videos!

  12. @5:29 you’re supposed to take free relief, you’re not allowed to stand on cart path while shooting. Would make that shot easier

  13. Quick Tip watch you club face patch during your setup. Your 5 iron was pointed way to the left while your body was piont down the target line.

  14. Been waiting for this for a long time, great to see you out on a full course. Lets go
On track to break 100 if the back 9 is simular scoring, which is pretty good going considering how many shots poor chipping and a couple of poor decisions cost you. Which by my count was at least 7.

  15. Lol it helps me to remind myself numerous times out loud during a round, that golf is very hard! I lovehate this game so much!!! I have retired from this game 976 times already but finally in it for the long haul…i think. 😂

  16. Just trying to hit your second shot as far as possible might not be the best strategy. You might want hit to your favorite approach distance. Since its your first par 72 just enjoy the ride you have tons of time to work on course management.

  17. I can’t imagine how complicated playing my fist 18 while managing a video, your group, and your game! Props bro!

  18. You need to play a lot to get comfortable out on the course and learn how to hit from different lies and distances. Did the course that you played at have a driving range? Your tempo was kind of all over the place and your pulled irons shots seem like something you could have worked out during a proper warmup session.

  19. I couldn't imagine my first real round of golf being with a group of random old guys who spend 10 hours a day on the course. Mad respect lol

  20. Holy frig you can pump a ball… I’m a 9 hdcp and I maybe hit my drive 290+ once every 50 drives… I can’t believe how quick you were able get that type of distance. If you can dial in your consistency and learn some of “feel” aspects of the game, I don’t think it will long before you’re a single digit. Congrats man!

  21. Enjoy your content. I thought for your first time on a real golf course ever, you played well. The 5 iron was not your friend but you got a great attitude. Keep it up. Looking forward to watching you get in the 80s pretty quick.

  22. After golfing for my first year, the best advice I have is, is to golf on courses as much as you can. The range is great for fundamentals, but learning where you can miss by understanding a hole's design, learning discipline to lay up if you don't feel confident in a club, taking your time and not feeling rushed by the people you're playing with and the group behind you, all comes from actually playing on a course. Par 3 courses are great for short game practice as well. Might not be a par 72 with huge drives, but it looks like right now you just need work with your short game (which is impossible to practice well on the range).

  23. @21:35 pause the video and look at your right elbow. It’s too disconnected from the body in my opinion.

Whenever I get too disconnected, it takes too much to get the club back in the slot and I end up hitting across the ball straight to the left.
