  1. Lexi is one of a kind. Classy, smart, funny, elite athlete. and a total badass! There are reasons she is The Icon and we saw them Thursday and Friday and in her interviews. Did you notice all the things she did outside of the actual tournament…giving lessons and clinics, meeting the Shriners ambassadors and the kids, all the autographs and pictures she took time for? The lady is something special. Breaking barriers and opening doors. Legend!

  2. In my opinion a great indication that this had much more to do with gaining undeserved media attention and self promotion. It was an obvious coordination of marketing and branding by the LPGA, Cobra and self promotion and gaining media attention on the part of Lexi. If she was really interested in proving herself on the men's circuit and actually earning the media attention, she could join the Korn Ferry Tour, European Tour, Canadian Tour, etc. and compete every week. But then again she hasn't won on the LPGA Tour for 3 years and played as little as possible this year in order to minimize missing cuts and keeping her LPGA card. Check her 2023 winnings. At the end of the day, based on her performance during her career Lexi Thompson is a middle of the pack player. She is Tied for 48th with 11 wins. In contrast Annaka Sorentam has 90+ wins worldwide and could teach Lexi something about letting her game do the talking and being humble. in terms of career wins after 16 years on the LPGA and holds zero records. She no longer holds the record as the youngest player to join the tour and isn't even close on any of the performance records. As pointed out by the PGA player, this was a marketing gimmick and sadly that doesn't seem to bother Lexi. Anymore than the US Solheim Cup captain have so little confidence in her, that she slotted her against the lowest ranked (aka weakest) player on the European team during the singles matches. In my opinion she knows that there were 10-12 more deserving LPGA players who earned the invite based performance and merit. And thus in my opinion her acceptance of the invite displays a lack of respect for those players who have beaten Lexi week after week on the LPGA tour for the past 3 years, a lack of respect for the game and a lack of personal integrity. I guess similar to most men's professional sports, marketing, branding and self promotion for the sack of money has become the focus and more important than ability, performance and respect for the game itself.

  3. What achievement. She didn't earn her invitation given she almost lost her LPGA card in 2023 and hasn't won on the LPGA for 3 years. To give you a reference point let's consider Annak Sorenstam's invitation to play at the 2003 Bank Of America tournament at the Colonial golf club, one of the hardest venues on the PGA at the time. At the time Annaka had won half of the 90+ tournaments she won during her career, as opposed to Lexi's 11, and Annaka had already won 5 majors. But what is the most impressive thing Annaka displayed was her respect for the game and her fellow competitors. And that was at her press conference after missing the cut similar to Lexi, she did not speak as though she was a factor in the tournament and thus deserved any media attention. In fact she didn't seek it or try and leverage it for the purpose of self promotion or building her brand. In fact Annaka, even though she won 9 X more tournaments than Lexi was humble and clearly stated "I didn't belong out there". In my opinion Lexi could learn allot from Annaka about being classy, actually earning the athletic status she portends to have and of course being humble and respecting the game. As the fellow LPGA players comment when Michelle Wie was invited to play in a PGA event as a marketing gimmick similar to Lexi….perhaps she should prove herself more on the LPGA tour. And in my opinion during a year where the US Solheim Cup captain had so little confidence in Lexi, that she slotted her against the lowest ranked (aka weakest) European player in the single matches and Lexi barely held on to her card… she should return to the LPGA tour and prove herself. At the very least proves she is half the player she encourages the media to portray her as.

  4. She probably got the invite over others having a better year because of her charisma, good looks, but more importantly being one of a handful of lpga players that have the distance to at least shoot even par on a pga tour course from the mens tees. Which is exactly what she did. Inbee Park at her best would shoot 80 on this course.
