He’s the greatest prospect of all time and the number 1 pick in the NBA draft, but should we be worried about Victor Wembanyama getting injured in the NBA?

  1. More than a little bit misleading. Wembanyama looks to me like the OPPOSITE of the kind of guy likely to get hurt. Lanky and smooth. And Dr. Brian pretty much says as much. And it misses the point. Big men in the NBA get hurt not because of their size, though one supposes that some guys like Walton have structural weaknesses. Some of the most durable player in NBA history were VERY BIG bigs. Robert Parrish. Kareem Abdul Jabber, Wilt Chamberlain. What usually gets centers hurt is CARRYING more WEIGHT than their bone structure and ligaments can support. Any jogger can tell you that the extra pounding from carrying weight causes problems. The only way he is likely to get hurt is if he's forced to put on weight.

  2. You were right about Zion. You predicted he'd be injured due to his poor posture and weight distribution.

  3. I’m such a huge fan of yours. I absolutely love what you do. I am interested in the human body, but wouldn’t have wanted or probable be able to complete medical school. I don’t have that level of dedication to studying o-chem or even physiology and anatomy at such a granular level. But the amount of information I can get from just ten minutes of watching your videos is perfect…and as I have told you before, I think these videos will inspire another generation of doctors. They are just so informative…and presented visually in a perfect way. I hope your videos continue to explode in popularity. And I always want you to know how appreciated you are. I appreciate the time and effort you put into these.

  4. Hurt or injured? I mean, I hurt my self stubbing my toe on the end of my bed…. So yeah I guess eventually he’ll be hurt or play hurt…. Kinda dumb honestly.

  5. You could have used Ralph Sampson and Bill Walton as examples of how frail a tall body type can be and why prehab is so important.

  6. People act like it's a hateful or discriminatory thing to talk about this young man's build, but it's not. It's just physical. The NBA has been around for 77 years. In that time, only ONE NBA player over 7'3 managed to have a double-digit scoring career and land in the hall of fame. And he also had incredible injury troubles that ended his career in less than a decade.

The taller a player is, the more stress they have on joints, especially the knees. Even in the two pre-season games he played, you could see his knees buckling. It's sad, but it's the same as players who are under 6'0. Rarely, you have a player like that able to have a hall of fame career, but it's very rare. But even rarer is a player over 7'3 that's going to have a real career. I'm shocked the Spurs drafted him. It'll be the biggest bust in NBA history. It's just a cash grab before his knees go.

  7. Thank god he went to the spurs where he has Tim Duncan to help him develop, sticking to fundamentals (and bulking up) could prolong his career and get him closer to his potential as time goes on

  8. Wemby got 3 years worth of games spread out over 7 seasons. Will miss entire rookie season.

  9. is he comparable at all to ralph sampson? they seem similarly built and sampson dealt with nasty foot injuries that ended his career

  10. His body type reminds me of two players 1) Marcus Camby but of course longer. He had injuries through his 17 year nba career or 2) Ralph Sampson, whose promising career was ruined by Injuries. For the sake of the game and the young man’, I hope he is more like Marcus.
