The tournament takes place for the 143rd time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Last year, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Poland’s Iga Swiatek claimed the men’s and women’s singles titles. It was both players’ first US Open title, with Alcaraz winning his first Grand Slam title and Swiatek winning her third Grand Slam title. 1. I am so over these reporters kicking these players when down. It is not kind or respectful. When will change happen for the players who deserve to be treated better.

  2. Maria Sakkari is not the only high ranking Tennis Star to endure three consecutive first round losses in a row at a Major Tennis Event (defined as Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open).

Same thing is happening with Canada's Felix Auger Aliassime as he reached Top 10 in the ATP rankings in 2021, and as high as 6th place last year, but now he's lost three Grand Slam Tennis 1st Round matches in a row.

As for Felix, if he doesn't get his act together, the worry is he'll go the way of Eugenie Bouchard and Leylah Annie Fernandez in having a breakout year one year, and then descend to "Tennis Jobber Status" with no recovery in sight.

I think that a big issue for Greece and Canada is their Tennis federations needs to invest more money towards Sports Psychologists and Mental Trainers with players paying 1/2 the cost.

  3. She took the words out of my mouth at the end.
It's time to take a break, or even consider retirement. She far too intense and not fully in control of herself.
I honestly can't remember the last time she has won a tournament.

  4. Μόλις χαλαρώσει, και σταματήσει να κυνηγάει την νίκη, η Νίκη θα έρθει και θα την παρακαλάει…

  5. She never represented Greece. Neither she did, nor TsitsiLMAO. They didnt sport the greek flag on their shirt in the Olympic games and they never do it. So yeah, they dont represent us, so they dont shame or make us proud either. They only fight for their bank accounts and for the sponsors. They even live in Monte Carlo, not in Greece. The only people ashamed should be TsitsiLMAO's parents, because their son almost hit his father with the racket and told his mother to shut up her mouth plus swearing all the time to himself and to the referees. Yes, being a professional athlete includes a lot of pressure and i know it first hand. However, no matter the pressure, you never behave like that to your parents or start a dialogue with the fans on the stands.

  6. Love Maria answer.
So much emphasis on the smell of giggle bush.
That's only one of many smells in the air but there's so much attention on the laughing cabbage smell.
I'll be more concerned about the smell of bad body odor than spicy tree's 🤣

  7. I love Maria and it's tough that she has lost her way a little bit.
I think she needs to start believing in herself a bit more.
I admire her honesty, no excuses. It's a far cry from Venus Williams round 1 defeat interview. She actually thought she played well. Her ego has gone to her head.

  8. maybe stop trying to look like a man and accept that u are a woman and be feminine

  9. There's a bright side in having a very bad year in tennis: you have few points to defend the following year. I expect Sakkari and Kenin to have a great 2024, few points to defend and a huge potential to express as they're both still young. They just need better coaches and a little injection of self confidence

  10. like her a lot more off court but what a brutally on-the-nose question re: her confidence. WTA field is very strong, is the point. she's a great player, though obviously stressed under serious pressure. not a bad idea to take a break, you know. seems like it's working for Anisimova. but then, everything on social media is FAKE FAKE FAKE! hahaha.
