The top five men and top five women enter, and after 12 must-see heats, one male and female surfer will rise from Lower Trestles as this year’s World Champions.

“WSL world champion” has lost all meaning over the past 2 years. Carissa is a 7X world champ. Comparing the current “champs” to those who won through a season of accumulated points makes no sense. WSL has lost all credibility!
Shame on you WSL for letting The Queen of women's surfing down yesterday… This new format is really bad for professional surfing. Defiantly keep Lowers as a event because it is the best wave in Cali but for gods sake bring back the old format and Final to Pipe already….You guys have dropped the ball for way to long now… We love you Carissa , time to make some babies and enjoy life a bit more! Kelly has 11 world Tour titles and 0 "Finals day at Tressels" titles. Caroline has 0 World Tour titles and 1 "Finals day" titles.

These cameramen suck! For such big events it’s like watching a super edited tv with more commercials and yammering than what we want to see!! Not a fan of this format! Best performance throughout the year not on one day should determine a champion

Congrats to CM but this final format is the worst ever. WSL sucks
The old format was way better when the lower ranked surfers could upset the title in the early heats ,especially at pipe.
Note to WSL: Put the scores up after the surfer finishes the wave. I want to feel like I’m watching it real time, have an opinion about it first. Love the condensed match ups though!

A Brazilian who feel really bad for Carissa, WSL look what you done with her the two past C T years. Is there someone that actually has a brain and know how to use it. Is just not fair and right, Caroline was in the zone surfing great. Carissa was the best during all year, finish over or not much less 10.000 ahead, past year she did for sure. You people are breaking her soul, soon one after other will be walking away. Better come up with a handful of good changes, G Land and other left good break a different format. If you decide stick with this lousy format WSL will be gone real soon

Shame on the judges, the entire WSL, and even the commentators for such shit displayed that day. Unbelievable. We had no choice but to let last years robbery slide but twice in a row is just absolute disrespect.
