Interesting feel – what is that drill trying to 'cure' or sort?
I do this, not as a drill, but as my "gamer" set up (on the course, playing). Although not as drastic (just 1 or 1.5 inches of "drop-back". I do this with the longer clubs (longer swings) driver & fareway woods. By the time I get to my hybrids, my stance has, for the most part .."squared". I do this for 2 reasons: (1) I have a left hip issue that hinders my backswing, & (2) I consistently "heel strike" the longer clubs. "Dropping back" increases my take away length & "centers" my contact on the clubface. I will also incorporate this as a slight "feel" when I really want to "draw" the ball ..with any & every club in the bag. Works for me …rather well.
I'm going to incorporate that in my game,and changing my swing like Steve Stricker..
Another way of using the effects of the no turn cast drill.
Tried this yesterday on the course. Hit some really great shots with it. Led to solid contact and I hit the ball further than usual. I think you can play like this, not just a drill.
I’m going to close my stance for my knock downs in the am
So you don’t need to initiate the swing by dropping the right pocket back or to the target , but the left hip still does go to the target
I am guessing this helps you swing from 7pm to 1pm
This my gamer stance I’m running with now. No more slices!
