Increasing your angle of attack with driver is an efficient method to gain distance off the tee. It’s not just about club speed and ball speed the easiest way to drive the golf ball far is by improving your attack angle and you will obtain a high launch angle and lower spin rate and a lot more distance. It is a lot easier than it sounds and PGA Professional & Director of Instruction Thomas Campbell explains just how to hit the golf ball far with driver.

You must move the ball position further forward in your address or towards your left heel. Additionally, you must increase the tee height. Once you have mastered increasing your angle of attack you will never have to worry about putting sky marks on your driver with a higher tee. A low tee height is a band aid for golfers that hit down on the ball with driver. The third huge gain is now the ability to play a driver with less loft. Simply a driver with less loft will have more ball speed and less spin. By increasing your launch angle with driver by improving your angle of attack with allow you to hit the golf bar far with a high launch low spin correction. With a driver your optimal landing angle is between 30-40 degrees with a high launch angle and low spin. If you are getting over 3000 rpms of spin with your driver there is a good chance you need to improve your angle of attack.

Steps to Increase Angle of Attack with Driver
1. Ball Position setup at least as far forward as left heel
2. Increase the tee height.
3. Lower the loft on your driver.

  1. speed goes from 104 to 108…110… only the angle of attack? while the content is great… results may be misleading?

  2. We would appreciate seeing results for 90-95 MPH swing speed for not only this video but also for other demonstrations. Many of us don't generate your speeds.

  3. Tee it high and let it fly!!!! My mate was hitting his driver with a 0.2 angle of attack. Made him try a higher tee, same swing and he ended up hitting bombs!

  4. Hi Guys, thanks for the tips. Wow, I'm definitely teeing the ball up too low (and maybe too far back). After watching this video I'm going to head to my local indoor range and
focus on the Trackman numbers. Let me ask you. My driver swing speed is 90mph. Is a 10.5 degree loft (regular flex) an ok setup?

  5. So according to Trackman I am 5 degrees up on my attack angle but the flight is so low. Peak height of like 70-80 feet. What am I doing wrong? I am using an 11 degree head too.

  6. I still have negative attack with the ball even further forward than you guys play in the video…

  7. Great video! Super helpful. Great collaboration on this topic. Best of luck on the new channel.
