Texas Rangers Outfielder Josh Smith took a pitch to the face in the bottom of the third inning this past Monday in a regular season game versus the Baltimore Orioles. Smith would leave the game for medical treatment. Fortunately, his injuries were limited to 6 stiches on the face and swelling.

  1. This pitch was only 89 mph. Could have been so much worse with a harder thrower. Glad he’s okay though, good to see him walk off under his own power

  2. I just took a softball to the mouth, line drive off the bat going anywhere between 90-105mph, got me in my upper jaw. Fractured upper jaw, fractured pallete in the roof of my mouth and fractured sinus cavity. Stayed upright after it hit, walked off on my own, walked to the car on my own while buddy drove me to the hospital. Rough couple weeks in baseball/softball man.

  3. How people even follow baseball after watching this video…teammates empty the bench to "fight" the opposite team yet when something like this happens neither the pitcher nor his own coach hurry to assist this injured human being.
