Anyone under 18 years of age in Minnesota would not be able to marry, under a bill passed by the Senate Wednesday, May 6. Sponsored by Senator Sandy Pappas, DFL-St. Paul, the bill changes current law, which allows a 16 and 17 year-old to marry with parental consent and judicial approval.

In other action, the Senate passed a bill sponsored by Senator Dan Hall that would allow a 16 and 17 year-old to operate some professional lawn-care machinery at a golf course, municipality or resort. The Senate also passed two other measures: SF 3357 (Limmer) Judiciary and Civil Law modifications; and SF 3800 (Koran) Money transfer provisions.
