How do you do a smith machine squat when it's angled down like that? Whenever I go all the way down, my back folds even though I try to remain as upright as possible
I apologize for the mix up! I did slip up making this. As stated in vid, Smith machine is a fixed bar path therefore a more stable movement.

im now like 1 year into lifting, squatting twice a week. I mainly train for hypertrophy. Should/could i switch my barbell squat for a smith machine one and is one more optimal than the other?
I can't do squats or deadlifts because I have arthritis in my lower back. At 'heavier' weights leg press even hurts to do. Any workouts that I should try? For legs I'm currently stuck with ext, curls, Calf raises and wall sits.
One more thing tho : not all smith machines are made the same, some have a straight bar path while some have a slightly curved one, do observe which one you have before using it

Somehow I get pain in my lower outer calf's the days after smith squats. Like I did smith squats and had pain for 3 days.

For aesthetics I only do smith squats Iโm able to go past failure, getting more reps in to really put tension into the targeted muscles.
Lower bar squat is gross
Can this exercise be a hacksquat machine alternative?, I really like the depth that machine allows me to reach but is not available in my current gym
i always do squats on a smith machine but my friends clown me for it but i just feel like i can squat heavier with a proper form on smith machine

You should squat the opposite direction so your hips flex and extend inline with the bar path
Personally, and its propably a form issue, but i get lower back pain when squatting the smith machine but i dont get it while doing traditional squats
But how do I progress from there to free bar? Nothing fixes my hip shift

No work on ankle mobility and core don't use assistance. More stability less your core is getting involved core is meant to stabilize
Do a cable squat over that crap.

I have mobility issues due to my duckfootedness, so a smith machine is the only way I can squat effectively.
Yes, I can use a free bar, but since I'm also new to squatting, my form is horrible due to, once again, my mobility issues.
How do you fix a hip shift. Iโm starting to have this ?
