A recent information leak from a credible news source has shed light on the “framework” agreement between the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf.

As part of the agreement, the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf are set to combine together (along with the DP World Tour) for a total of 18 combined-field events in 2025. This recent leak of information has revealed quite a bit about how the structured agreement between the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf will work, including which players will play in these combined events, who will be in charge of the program, and most importantly…who will pay for it all. Needless to say this restructuring between the PGA TOUR, LIV Golf, DP World Tour, and the Saudi PIF fund will be the biggest shake-up in the history of professional golf. And, not all players are happy about it. Many like Rory McIlory and Matt Fitzpatrick have expressed their dislike of the idea of LIV golfers playing on the PGA TOUR and vice versa. So what will all of this look like as we head into 2024? We’re breaking it all down on this week’s episode of The Golf Podcast.

  1. The top players won't all play the 18 . The 12 US ones won't include FedEx x3 or Players but will have spaces for the other 2 tours, amount TBD. 3 of 18 will be in DPWT arena . Say Scottish Irish and European Opens. LIV get 3 maybe 2 in Saudi 1 in say Australia. If your on LIV you have 14 LIV events maybe top players playing 10/14 with bigger squads. 4 majors 3 LIV events plus a selection of others in 18. If you in PGAT you can play Us 12 plus 4 majors FedEx and Players and any other you want . It's freedom to choose and a truck load of cash.

  2. I prefer LIV and majors! I don't want LIV to go! I like a lot of their different courses and countries!

  3. Or they will have a certain amount from each tour based on their tour ranking as opposed to world ranking. So u have say a field of 70-80. Top 30 pga tour and top 20-25 from other 2 tours.

  4. Eventually, I feel that LIV will emerge as the most popular. Teams are gaining traction globally (forget the USA for now) and the format is generating ezcitement. Pretty soon, LIV may not need the PGA Tour anymore.

  5. It’s a good concept but I’m not sure what to think about this merger. I’ve enjoyed watching LIV events but I would much rather watch a PGA event. I like golf without the teams, just one man against the field, but just like anything else it’s all about the money. I just hope we don’t lose some of the better traditions of the game in golf.

  6. Chill guys like cam smith and viktor will probably go back and forth. There will be stubborn dudes causing drama of course.
