  1. Iv watched it back a few times I’d say it’s just on the side on low. The contact is both on AND below the belt. It wasn’t intentional on that shot, however Dubois hasn’t helped himself til this point, throwing plenty low shots prior to this. He should have had a deduction prior to that knockdown anyway. 🤷🏽‍♂️ however the shot in question yeah.. I can see both sides of the argument, I am leaning with slightly low…

Title: Luis Pabon's Controversial Refereeing in Boxing: Examining the Alleged Corrupt Fights

    Introduction:
Boxing has always been a sport marred by controversies, both inside and outside the ring. Referees play a pivotal role in ensuring a fair and impartial outcome, but unfortunately, instances of biased officiating have also plagued the sport. Among the frequently debated figures in boxing, one name that emerges is Luis Pabon, whose refereeing decisions have been subject to suspicion and criticism. This essay aims to shed light on the alleged corrupt fights involving Luis Pabon, both in the past and present, across multiple countries.

    1. Alfredo Angulo vs. Erislandy Lara (June 8, 2013, United States):
One of the earliest controversies surrounding Luis Pabon's refereeing career unfolded during the bout between Alfredo Angulo and Erislandy Lara. Pabon's decision to halt the fight following Angulo's knockdown in the tenth round was met with widespread outrage. Many argued that Pabon stopped the fight prematurely, denying Angulo a chance to recover and potentially turn the tide of the match in his favor.

    2. Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II (November 20, 2010, United States):
Another contentious fight refereed by Luis Pabon was the rematch between Paul Williams and Sergio Martinez. During the first round, Martinez stunned Williams with a devastating left hook, causing him to lose his balance and fall through the ropes. Pabon ruled it a slip rather than a knockdown, sparking controversy. Numerous fans and experts believe that Pabon failed to make an accurate judgment that could have significantly impacted the fight's outcome.

    3. Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Victor Ortiz (September 17, 2011, United States):
One of the most infamous incidents involving Luis Pabon's involvement as a referee occurred during the super welterweight championship match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz. In the fourth round, Ortiz headbutted Mayweather, leading to a point deduction by Pabon. As Ortiz attempted to apologize, Pabon called for the fight to resume, but before Ortiz could fully prepare, Mayweather launched a controversial knockout punch. Critics argue that Pabon inadequately controlled the situation, which allowed for Mayweather to take advantage of an unsuspecting opponent.

    4. Julian Williams vs. Jeison Rosario (January 18, 2020, United States):
In a more recent event, suspicions arose regarding Luis Pabon's refereeing in the fight between Julian Williams and Jeison Rosario. Critics highlight a round-two incident when Pabon deducted a point from Rosario due to a low blow. However, many observers believe that it was a legal body shot, suggesting Pabon's decision contributed to an unfairly distinct outcome.

    Conclusion:
The alleged corrupt fights involving Luis Pabon reflect ongoing concerns regarding impartiality and fair officiating in the sport of boxing. While it is important to differentiate between occasional refereeing errors and intentional bias, the controversies surrounding Pabon have raised questions about his suitability as a referee. Boxing authorities should consistently review and address concerns to protect the integrity and credibility of the sport, ensuring fair play for all athletes involved.
