Rory Mcilroy has NOT held back in todays interview all about the ‘slippery slope’ of gambling fans affecting golf events.. but wait till you hear what Rory has to say all about this. He isn’t the only golfer that has concerns or that has been victim of these issues. Jon Rahm claimed on Tuesday that the Tour will find it “extremely difficult” to stop fans with gambling interests from affecting events, follow Max Homa lashed out at the BWM championship! At the BMW Championship on Saturday, two individuals were ejected after shouting at Max Homa as he putted out on the 17th hole. The calls related to a bet between friends.

McIlroy appears in a relaxed state of mind as he attempts to win the FedEx Cup this weekend for what would be a fourth time here. The 34-year-old regards himself as free from the emotion he felt in 2022, when heavily involved in the PGA Tour’s attempts to withstand the threat from LIV Golf… Tiger Woods was recently added to the PGA Tour’s policy board.

Scottie Scheffler has also made comments on this huge problem who leads the FedEx Cup going into this final event, he actually said in the same interview that he would have no problem with Brooks Koepka receiving a captain’s pick for the US Ryder Cup team.

  1. Do you even follow golf? Jay Monahan said specifically that the PGA Tour need to expand gambling in golf. Please pay attention.

  2. Pro's just gotta deal with it like they do in every other major sport. take a look at what colleges do during basketball season. not every game, but some of them will hand out items to the students sitting behind the basket like towels and inflatable "boom sticks" to wave around while the other team is shooting their free throws. Its all part of the mental game that every athlete faces. Some can handle it and others can't. Maybe spend some more time in a louder environment or intentionally have people in your practice rounds make a little noise instead of playing in dead silence just so that you are used to the noise. Mental toughness becomes a larger factor

  3. I don’t know, Nicklaus had to deal with Palmers army. He said he was so focused that he didn’t hear anything. So it is a sport. We say it in weekend 4 somes, so maybe they should suck it up. But then I grew up with golf being a different type of sport and this was why I went to it. I’ve been disappointed the last 25 years.

  4. Start with the a$$h0les who yell 'go in the hole' on the players downswing on a par 5 tee shot. Tear up their tickets, post their pictures in security, throw them off the course and ban them from all future tournament attendance.

  5. Earplugs or earbuds on the way. Sports not built on fan noise probably ought to consider them ok for competition.

  6. I suspect that bookmakers will police this situation before golf has to. Gambling institutions have been dealing with these types of situations for a long time and are experts in controlling the behavior of those choosing to place bets.

  7. The biggest danger in betting on golf is the possible subversion of a player himself. Say, Rory is a prohibitive favorite in a tournament and a professional gambler has bet heavily on him but someone like Brian Harman is 1 stroke back starting Sunday. Maybe, Harman gets a note under his motel room door to the effect that he needs to gag a few holes so Rory wins, or else something "unpleasant" may happen to Harman's wife. Such a threat may or may not be real and maybe she gets police protection but the thought of "what if" will still be there in his mind. Once gambling on sports starts, odd things may happen as in the Black Sox scandal in the 1919 World Series or the point shaving scandals in college basketball in the early 1960s. To paraphrase Lord Acton's dictum, "Gambling money corrupts and big gambling money corrupts absolutely." Misbehaving fans would be a rather minor concern.

  8. Agreed. What happened to the days of shhh. "Quiet please". Yes come and watch but respect the players. After all it's their job and I for one want them to do their best and enjoy themselves rather than be frustrated by noobs unnecessary vocals. Cheers!

  9. Pro golfers are the softest pros in the sports world. Grab some balls. If they could flop and other players would get a yellow card they'd be flopping all over the course

  10. In my mind, it's similar to cheating at a casino. Now we can all imagine what unfortunate consequences could happen at a casino if the cheater is caught. Now I'm not suggesting that it should all go "Robert De Niro" for the perpetrator, but I can see a situation where betting companies start placing cameras around the course, in an attempt to catch the betting cheats. Or possibly that betting companies refuse to payout in situations where the result is influenced by a third party.

    Anyway, it's just a thought.

  11. For the people commenting that golfers need to be mentally tougher, yadda, yadda, yadda: I’ll play a round with you with some other Pro’s. We will give you strokes, we can play for money. See what you got with your mental toughness. I really don’t think you all know what your talking about. Most of you probably don’t even play golf, some try to play golf and the others just play a couple times with their friends that also don’t know how to play golf and they think its fun to get blasted and get amused by jumping carts / tearing up the course. All of your idols in other sports look up to golfers abilities/mental game when they actually try golf and want to get better at it. They get humbled real quick and start learning the etiquette/etc. and learn the reasons behind why its there. Also they get pissed when fans interfere in sports. A lot of them have grown to become better mentally for their sport. As a fan you don’t know or see that. Also all your sports idols from other sports are extremely respectful/quite when there around Pro golfers. Golf is not other sports, nor should other sports be like golf. If you don’t like golf then exit. Fans of sports are starting to become a nuisance and those fans are weirdly proud of themselves. Its odd that they don’t have self awareness that they look like idiots. Cheers

  12. This sort of misdemeanour is 0 when compared to the ethics of sponsorship and management practices in Golf. Dig deep into some of the sponsorship deals not only the companies and their partners but affiliations and Hypocrisy.

  13. This was inevitable with real time gambling. Have a rule that any GPS ordering on the app can’t be on the site of the course or in an area they can bet without effecting an outcome. People wanting to bet instantly can go to a special area with giant TV’s and cool chairs …… what’s next lasers in the putting line

  14. SportsBook or any betting platform should have their own indoor area so players can’t hear them scream. The betting just has to be sanctioned. And there’s police everywhere at American golf tournaments at least. People can easily be removed and rangers need to take things more seriously.

  15. Nothing can be done unless the players have earplugs in or something to that effect. The game is no longer the gentlemen sport it once was. It has been Americanised and they need to man up and go play golf and make the millions and stop crying. The spectators are also finding every tee shot that goes in the ruff that they have also stamped down making the lies better over the tournament and both those factors are allowing them to stand on every tee box am boom it as far as they can hit it without a care in the world .

  16. "Shi^, Rory, YOU don't have to worry about outside influence affecting YOUR game. It's ALL in YOUR head and we are just LOL all over YOU mate. Sit on THAT for awhile at Augusta."

  17. Big difference between fans being rowdy, and intentionally yelling something out to a player to cause them, or want to cause them to make a bad shot/putt. That person needs to be removed. All these events have law enforcement there as well. Just let that happen one time, and be shown on tv. It will stop.

  18. I don't agree that nothing can be done. Maybe have the spectators sign a waiver acknowledging and agreeing to not shout out anything on the course as a player is beginning his shot. Escort those who do off the course and if they refuse to sign the waiver don't let them on the course. Golf used to draw people with common sense and those attending showed respect to the players. I don't know what changed but it needs to be nipped in the bud before it gets worse .

  19. Organized gambling adds nothing to the sport. It makes a lot of money for very few people who run the gaming companies. It does nothing useful for golf yet it brings in a degenerate element that otherwise would not be involved.

The risk to the sport far outweighs any potential benefit. It should be banned, today!

  20. I've been on about a 20 year hiatus from both playing, and watching, golf because it was just too costly for me to play at my level of addiction to the game. I've been bitten by the bug again, but am totally dismayed at the state of the game both on the course, and watching the events on tv. Etiquette is a distant memory to say the least. Getting paired up with a couple of the village idiots on the local muni is the rule and not the exception these days. Then I see those same village idiots now yelling at players at live events because they have their bookie sitting next to them is just beyond the pale. I remember the crowds changing dramatically when Tiger came on the scene, but they weren't taunting other players (because they didn't usually need to).

Golf is most definitely NOT better for having more people play the game and I'll say it loudly. It's a circus to play a round these days, and much tougher to watch on tv when fans are just chirping players like they're at a hockey game. Golf used to have a dignity and pride unique to the game. That will be erased in another decade. It looks like President Camacho rolling in during Idiocracy now.

  21. Sports betting is a problem in any sport. When will the first case of match fixing be found? I believe cricket has it right. By the way it is “the proof of the pudding is in the eating”.

  22. This has only been happening for all of time.

You are representing Gambling Companies! Clearly.

I bet you that I will beat you playing 9 holes at YOUR local Golf club (whichever that is) But my last handicap was 5 and I haven’t been a member anywhere for 5 years, or I haven’t played in 3 years actually. So how can I be sure I could beat you.

What I’m pointing out is that you could be and probably are a handicap of minus blah blah so obviously you are a better player than me BUT then there is reality.

I have proven to myself throughout my life that
If I Need To Dig Deep to WIN something then I will. And that’s just because I’m built mentally and have absolute belief (it’s only because I’ve played that shot before, plenty of times) to give it everything I have and I would.

    But

The difference of a Champion Professional is
    His or Her
Ability that is Better than Average…………..
Not just simply a pro. But it is a Professional’s Job and that’s where they have a challenge that you or I don’t. I’ve played money against golfers that are better than me and beaten them plenty of times and that’s because I can dig deep. But I don’t do that every day like a pro does.

Someone Else Gambling on me is There Problem and it’s the same problem that is with Gambling on Someone Else.

In other Gambling on other sports there are things like:

Horses are given lots of water before they race.

A team will slow down there attack because they are already a specific number ahead.

I could go on and on but you have enough examples of that Gambling will
    Influence Behaviour.

The actual reason for you to gamble is too earn as much as you can on an outcome.

I suggest to the Entire World that You and All of You as Countries and Governments and other Authorities
    Simply Make Gambling Illegal.

    Problem resolved…………

When I learned to play golf it was my sport and I played by way of handicap and being Australian the challenges to getting better and never stopping improving had to this this day Never Stopped (I’m now 55years old) I’m too busy in my life to even play golf, but that alway changes every now and then.
    Gambling is Legal.
For you to Bitch about it means you are representing Gambling Companies and Stirring up something that is OK by your government (and You look like a heavy gambler)

You as a Youtube er try and stir everything and anything so you don’t have any credibility about anything.
In fact you are quite Immature, irresponsible, and as you run out of sensible and credible subjects to comment on you Will/Have simply become worse and worse and will get even worse…… 7:15.

What you are Seeking is debate about even having people at a golf course watching and that is
Evil and you all including Rory (who literally represents the golfers) is Clearly Trying To Stop People From Being On The Golf Course.
    You Evil Bastards.
