  1. that is a sick backswing and rotation… Very strong face… love how his trail elbow remains in front throughout the swing too. Q: what kind of grip strength does he uses?

  2. Great stuff as always!!!
I have getting into my position the reverse. I start at just with weight on my lead leg, lead hip turned, side bend and then address the ball.

  3. I highly endorse Jonathan's rotational swing lesson on the Skillest application. It's really helped me become more consistent with my irons.

  4. Great follow through as well! Too many of us stop rotating after the strike, which really means we slow down prior to impact. The obsession to "hit the ball" has to be overcome to turn through like he does. I do it great on a practice swing, but put that white pill on the ground and a full follow through requires concentration. However, using the drills taught here have helped me gradually overcome 25 years of the wrong swing.

And best of all, using the rotational swing, even imperfectly, I can play 27 holes without lower back pain, or any pain at all. At 70 years young, a lot of people I used to play with have quit playing due to pain. I can recommend, but I can't make them watch…

  5. Great video and explanation of the fundamentals of the golf swing, thanks JChown

  6. The guy has an unbelievable swing, especially for a 75 yr old. What an absolute legend!
    A lot to learn here

  7. Started my journey for a more rotational swing after 15 years all arms. To create depth and maintain square clubface – it feels like I have to use ridiculous amount of forward press through the whole swing.

  8. Excellent video. The "takeaway" — sorry about the pun — I got from this, was that, if you get the takeaway correct, then everything else falls into place.

  9. Hi John. Dropped 1 off my handicap in yesterday’s medal by guiding my hands in an arc on the takeaway as you suggest (8:55). Made a huge difference to my usual upright club at the top of my backswing. I’m going the work on the rest of your guidance and hopefully my handicap will lower further. Thanks a bunch. Btw great content on your channel.

  10. Thank you- thank you – this take away just made my game improve from pars to birdies.
    Great stuff.

  11. Great rotation, great swing you're right! For waht I can see: One important thing here is to look at his right foot staying on the ground in the downswing and the heel doesn't leave the ground until the impact is done. I beleive he's been training by keeping the toes up until he almost reach impact where he's starting to roll the trail feet and finally lift the heel for the posting. Early extenders (me) we all lift the heel in the downswing way before we hit the ball as we pushing from the right side. Does this make sense?
