In todays video I am going to show you the no.1 reason why I am now consistently hitting my driver 300 yards carry! A couple of weeks ago we shared my fitting with @trottiegolf and he very much opened my eyes as to how, almost complacent I have ben recently with the driver. Like not bad! But just not taking advantage of the potential yardage I could reach if I wanted to! So in todays video I document what I have currently been working on and the drill that has been instrumental in optimising my driver over the last couple of weeks!

  1. That left hip rotates way too much away from the target and does non efficient rotation without gaining string like effect.

  2. I not only lift my left heal (as a right-handed player), I twist my foot slightly a little to allow me to to turn my left knee in and load up on my right leg. I also flare my right foot out a little more to allow the turn. If I don't do these moves, I can't turn and become all arms. Bad arthritis in both shoulders and neck limit my mobility greatly. Does this make sense?

  3. Love the content, gents. Appreciate the fact that you are challenging yourselves versus just talking a good game. Respect.
    👍🙌🙌💯🔥💯

  4. these are the only two things I think about when hitting driver and they have helped me to find some consistency with the big stick!

  5. I will be ignoring this advice because I’ve just had a lesson where I got shown I was swaying about 3 inches outside the line 😳

  6. It has taken me a while (years) to work out that when we talk about weight transfer we are really talking about pressure. I was trying to move my weight over my trail leg which led to a sway rather than focusing on creating downward pressure through my trail foot. No sway but more power and my average drive so far this year is 20+ yards up on all of last year with more to come. This is a really good video, great format seeing you guys working on your game and Andy's swing is looking smooth.

  7. Are you guys speeding up the shot tracer? 280-300 yard carry should stay in the air longer.

  8. Have you any drills or videos about how to correctly rotate the hips.
Feel like I'm getting into a really nice position at the top but the second I transition to the left my hips look like they are rotating but the weight shift is causing me to get steep. Hard to explain without showing the video but it's like my left hip isn't working properly
    Thanks

  9. it seems to me you figured out you were right post golfer (and needed more horizontal force for distance ). I’m not sure if this advice would work for everybody, especially if they were center or left post golfers?

  10. When you pick up your left foot onto your toe, where is the weight in your right foot?
Inside, middle or outside of foot?

  11. Good stuff and good work improving launch conditions.

Thanks for the update. I've been wondering how the driver journey was going. I struggle with mine so much I like seeing that progress is possible 😂

  12. Thanks guys, is interesting. I am trying to work this out as Gears measures Rory to be 1-2 inches closer to target by the time he reaches the top. I don't understand how this gives him room to swing through?

  13. The 302 carry looked like you released earlier and it had good height, but drew left. The other one that hooked harder left and went lower looked like your hands released even a little earlier.

  14. stack-and-tilt was hampering a generation of great golfers. Sounds a little harsh now that I‘ve written it out, but I stay with this message

  15. I am having this same problem with driver as I don’t present much loft and angle of attack is more iron appropriate. Have found though a feeling of right hand palm in transition more towards the sky has helped a lot with this. What do you think about that? Also I have gone to a 14 degree mini driver for now.

  16. Words like “weight”, and “sway” can be misinterpreted by most amateurs. I like the term “pressure”. Your feet will tell you EVERYTHING. Use the pressure from your feet, into the ground, to “apply the brakes”. Your right foot will apply the brakes before you reach the top, and start the transfer into your left side. This then allows you time to apply the brakes with your left foot, and get that slingshot affect from the ground through impact. Watch the long drive guys. People are way too robotic, and static in their golf swing. Power is created through dynamic, and athletic movement of the entire body. If your buddy told you that he would give you $100 if you could throw your 9 iron 100 yards, I promise you that you would turn your body, shift pressure, and create a ton of speed and power naturally. Free yourself up, and make that work in your golf swing. That little white ball scares people STIFF. lol

  17. Love it gents! I also recommend more side bend at impact, this will in height and regerate more speed.

  18. Well, hopefully every golfer watching this video already master perfectly its contacts and swing plane, otherwise it would be funny to advise them to sway the hips in an attempt to strike the ball………….

  19. Best advice i can give is you must keep your head absolutely still at all times

  20. That and you aren’t doing this by trying to kill it. Not lifting feet and getting off balance. What I’m working on in my game keeping my feet under me. I’m a 5.3 right now and I find my biggest struggle in my game is balance

  21. Hi Guys, my driving was massive, but I didn't have the consistency in my accuracy. I went for a lesson with a pro here in Australia . My back swing was exactly what you are describing and for me that was my sort of trigger point for my whole swing. After the lesson, I came away so deflated and confused . It felt that my body was all tide up and that I had no freedom to move. Also my swing speed went down 15 mph and my distance was way down from what I was hitting. That was a year ago , my game has gone to crap, my H/cap has gone through the roof and I really wanted to give the game up, and all because I wanted a nicer looking swing. After watching this video, it has made me realise that I was doing the right thing for me and that I should go back to what I was doing and this is what I'm going to do . Thanks for this video

  22. Hey guys, how do you achieve the low spin? I'm 67 and swing speed in the 93-6 range, cap 3.6 but losing distance, many drives go high with good launch angle but sometimes not staying in the air that long, overspinning I believe. Any tips, thanks.

  23. After seeing this video, I took the feel of "very far from the golf ball" to the range and course. I'd say overall this improves my swing, cures my overswing and over the top down swing.

I have not measure the sway or film from the face angle, but the feeling of right and far from the golf ball on the top helps me find a room to come back to the ball from the inside, where as before I feel like there is no room to come back from inside and ended up swinging it over the top and hit it downwards.

  24. Thanks for another great video. How about just moving your ball position forward? I see it's off your front heel. The big hitters have it more forward than that which should translate to a more positive AOA.

  25. Great great video! I am even more guilty of this gap, think mine is a good few inches more than yours Andy. Who knows the cause, perhaps I recentre too early or even reverse pivot.
Really appreciate how you explain that using video is so important and then the feel needed to get to "normal".
The addition of sportsbox ai ontop of launch monitor data is great! Few of us are as lucky.

  26. I would love to see your launch angle at 14. Great post. I'm curious, do you feel like your head is staying back/behind the ball through impact? Put another way, further back than when you address the ball. Thanks!
