Yeah but a 30 handicapper's weaknesses are things like open club face, bad grip, inconsistent swing,…things not likely cured by a ball. HE'S talking about players concerned with flight path, spin, compression…things WAY too inconsequential for someone still shanking it into the woods.
If you’re a 10 – 30 hcp and you’re looking to make drastic improvements to your game, spend any available funds on instruction from a local pro. Stop upgrading your clubs and buying top tier balls.
I literally just got to the point at a 9 handicap where I realized that the ball matters. I'm not great off the tee but my short game is pretty damn good. I use a Callaway Chrome Soft because I seem to control that ball better than any other from 50yds and in. So there's that.
Unless you're sub 10 then it doesn't matter. I'm a 12 with a long drive and 115-125 swing (depending on how controlled i want to be). If I a bunker or tree that TP5X or pro vx is ripped and done for a comp. I'd rarely lose a ball but will hit hazards on my local course so will use anything in a casual round but I'm definitely using a pix or pro v for a comp even if I know I'll ruin 2-3 balls and probably score 32 points
This company man failed to mention the ball difference between pros and Rec players….. balls pros play with have been balance tested and heavily scrutinised before they even make it to their bag. This sounds inconsequential but it’s proven, the three balls in your standard pack will all roll differently, and it’s not a subtle difference over a 6 foot put those differences can be well over a cup. How about instead of pushing for brand or type specific balls push for more quality control by major brands.
I say use whatever you want until you break 100, then at least try to use similar balls, like all soft or all distance, but don’t care about the brand. Once you break 90 think about buying a mid range ball and only using that. Once you break 80 and if you have the cash spring for only playing one premium ball.
One reason amateurs struggle so much with their short game is that golf balls perform very differently around the greens compared to anywhere else on the course. A drive with a call away super soft and an old top flite might only change by 10 yards, but a 10 yard chip with those balls will have to be played completely differently.
100% false. I have played with all types of brands and I hit every single one of them the exact same. The only literal difference in SOME is the bounce/spin on the green. (Which is only affected by being a hard or soft ball) brand literally makes 0 difference. In all honesty the best balls I've ever played with are the shitty pinnacle 2 balls I find in the woods/water bank. Or the Wilson 50/50 for better handles on the greens. Used to use vice, Titleist, TaylorMade, etc. All of them hit the EXACT same as a noodle. The inconsistency higher HC players see is from their stance and grip never being the same. A pro player using bottom shelf, Walmart bagged Wilson balls will shoot the exact same if he used a shitty, overpriced prov1
Spoken like a politician. I simple no would’ve sufficed 😂 I’ve played with many, around, 30 handicappers and ain’t no ball gonna help their game. Just time and lessons, ball comes last.
I try to explain this to my higher handicap friends all the time as well as demonstrate it around the greens or any wedge swing really I tell them to watch how the ball reacts on the greens first I’ll hit a prov1x or tp5x so they can see how quick it sits and how it sounds then hit the same shot with a top flight or something ands it’s immediately apparent how much less spin is on the top rock but some still don’t care they just go with the cheapest, whatever is on sale or whatever they found or snag from the range🤣 there excuse which is kind of a valid one is always that it would cost way to much money the day it’s not a big deal for me because I can play multiple rounds without losing a ball or only replace it when’ it’s nicked or scuffed and they are going through half a dozen or more on the front 9 🤣 I was always told when I was younger that your ball is just as important as the rest of your equipment and just like the rest of that equipment there are pros and cons to different types. I think a lot of amateurs in particular double digit handicappers would be surprised how much optimizing their equipment to their own specs is instead of getting what’s cool or what the pros use when you start to make consistent contact then you can start experimenting with higher spin balls, forged irons and tour headed driver and woods
The only thing I have noticed with golf balls is the spin difference. I prefer a mid tier ball with decent spin. Helps me keep it on the green a little more. All distance balls I have used just roll off or just too much. Just my opinion 🤷

To a degree they are lying. I play of +3 if I use any top of the range it doesn't really offect my game that much to the point it jumps out.
Who cares…..

But my Pro V1s insure that I blade it into the woods CONSISTENTLY!

The answer is no
It makes a huge difference.

To be honest I always play the same urethane cover ball, but my best round to date was with a noodle 😅
yes and no. you have plenty more to worry about but ball can make a difference. sure. placebo effect i guess lmao.
Shocking that the Taylormade rep says it does matter even for a +30er
Hope they’re okay with spending $50 on balls every round

Foreplay is cool but the Taylor made shilling is getting really old

Cap
A 30 handicap could use a tennis ball and see no difference, possibly an improvement.
Pure company man answer
The only time it REALLY makes a difference is when you're using rock flites
I’ve a mate has a putting ball probably a bit softer than the rocks he normally hits always found it strange 😅
quick question which golf ball doesn’t slice 😂😂
