Rickie Fowler and the US Open Champion Wyndham Clark both used counter balance mallet style putters when battling out the 2023 US Open Major Championship at Los Angeles Country Club.
If you are struggling with your putting is this a method you should consider?
What should you look for when testing a counter balance or longer putter like Rickie Fowler and Wyndam Clark?
Will a longer putter improve your performance?
In this weeks #tourtrucktuesday video I will walk you through the process of what to consider when getting a putter fitting and what you should be asking yourself when it comes to testing a new style of putting.
The PGA Tour professionals are using longer less traditional styles when it comes to their games so is this something you should look to incorporate into your game.

Excellent video.
Love the vids and the channel mate – any advice on how to get into club fitting. I’m not a PGA pro or anything, just something I’m quite passionate about and would Love to learn more about it. Cheers!
Have you ever done anything on putter grips trot? Reverse overlap vs other? How to do them, benefits and cons, etc
I must admit I'm fascinated by these…………….once again, thank you for all you present us
In the spirit of KBS. Would it be possible to do a review/fitting on their putter new KBS GPS putter shaft v. their CT Tour putter shaft?
Looking very smart Trottie
Problem is most longer grips are too light! You do need a heavy grip or a grip with that huge heavy weight that goes in the top
Didn't Johnny Miller use a putter with a huge weight on top of the grip when he had the yips?
LACC member and the USGA made the 2023 US Open the WORST in the champions history. LACC should NEVER EVER be given any tour. The "average golf" got the short end of the stick; the tee times sucked…feel back for those across the pond.
Trottie… Which irons would you recommend to exchange with for Mizzuno Semi Cod Mx19 irons that were given to me. The P-7TW irons milled grind $2k or P790 P770 I’m a 15-16 handicap shooting low 90s decent iron player. I’m leaning towards P-7TW speeder nx red regular or stiff shaft. Thank you for your time and help. God Bless ⛳️🕺🏽
Also what is the best grip manufacturer? Taylormade ? Or Golf pride ? 🤔
I still use the Spider Blade putter Rose used. It’s still money for me.
Seems to have died at retail. Would like to see options come back. Retailers don’t know how to talk about it so they didn’t sell. It works, that DJ putter looks excellent here. Good video.
Since watching Trottie, I have changed my dream foursome to play a round with……it would be Trottie, Tyrrell Hatton, Sabrina Andolfo, and myself. I’m an obviously sick man!
As a lefty we just have to take the one dusty blade at the back of the store and learn to use it…….
Those huge grips are a pig to fit and remove too…
Congrats Odyssey Versa Jailbird 380!
I actually just purchased a Spider GT after doing a lot of research into length among some other factors. I have mild cerebral palsy, and I find that a longer putter helps me with correct posture after years of swinging a blade (and honestly, forcing a lot of putts well off-line). Thank you for this video and others you've done on the Spiders! #legend
CounterBalance putters are in again I bet we will see a lot more options in 2024 in the retail side
I put a weight in last year and has really helped on the 4 to 6 foot putts – can trust the strike and hit it straighter with more pace, if you are face balanced you gotta try it
I was always told the counterbalance only works if you grip down on the longer putter. The counterweight has to be like an inch above your top hand roughly for it to achieve the "counter" to the weight of the putter head. You demonstrated a grip that was right at the top of the grip and standing up tall. Does that still work or does it defeat the purpose of the "counter" balance? For instance can I just take my 35" putter which I grip near the butt end and just add a weighted grip to it?
If your using the longer grip how long should the putter be ?
